Funnily enough some of the higher speeds actually do make some situations easier, such as Corpse of Minos's punches moving way faster which, subsequently, makes it easier to parry them consistently and deal huge damage faster. It also makes getting the time bonuses faster.
It’s the quake nightmare effect. Faster enemies do not necessarily equate to tougher enemies. Quake nightmare made the argument that since the enemies attack faster now, it must be harder than the hard difficulty. But almost 30 years later there’s still many who argue that the faster enemies actually make it easier in some situations. Obviously brutal is harder than violent, but some of the enemies do get a lot easier to kill because of the speed buff. Of course, Maurice is one of them. The street cleaner is easier too, since him just aiming up isn’t too much of a problem when you don’t have to wait as long to do a coin instakill. Someone mentioned corpse of King Minos’ faster punches being easier to cleanse off health, and that’s true as well. The sword’s machine shooting even when it doesn’t have a weapon means that you can parry it every single time, and don’t have to wait for it to get a weapon. Some of them are obviously harder, Cerberus and the sentry being obvious examples.
No mention of Flesh Prison? How the eyeballs are faster and more of them are Malicious faces? I don’t know about Panopticon since I haven’t tried it, but definitely noticed when doing P-1 the difficulty change for Prison.
there are 3 mini-maurices on panopticon and its probably faster at changing its attack modes(not sure on that one, cos u give zero fucks about it while trying to get p rank on p2)
swordmachine can attack you without his sword as well, insurr is faster too mino's corpse can combo you minos's prime 4 attacks combo, his last attack is a lot faster how can he be so wrong twice
I love that difficulty in ultrakill isnt just "enemies have more health and do more damage ", yes someone made the same comment but i have more to add: Ultrakill seems to be designed to teach you something new, 1-1 literally just writes on the screen the basics, the minos corpse makes you really want to learn parry times, the huge hit from parrying the punch seemd to be made to make people get addicted to the idea of parries with the damsge you deal, that ludt level with the long platforms and tower you have to climb seem like they want you to learn how to climb and fight, v2 is just a skill check, you can't parry and his fast movement doesnt allow you to really stick that close to reliably heal, its the game telling you "dodge, move faster, keep track of your enemy". V2 fight 2 seems to be the same message, basically a test of skill again. The prime souls i think are v2 with the added lesson of "what if an enemy will always be close ? Move and change directions, learn patters, and once again, go faster. Oh you did it? Maybe try the harder difficulties". Guttermen and guttertank to me also just taught another type of dodging, both seems to be management enemies, you need to get close but they will mess you up eith their melee damage, if you did the prime souls you kind of apply that distance management well
Just small correction and add-ups -Virtue can still be enraged by 3 attacks in lower diffs -Maurice's balls number is increased and have slight spread in firing
Also, the THR-1000 Defense System has all attacks active at the start of the fight now. Minos now has 15 Stamina in Phase 1 and still infinite in Phase 2. Sisyphus now has 10 Stamina in Phase 1 and 20 in Phase 2 and no longer uses his 2 Stamina taunt. “You can’t escape”’s stomp also creates double shockwaves similar to Cerberus. V2 (both fights) can now dash and slide spam
Never once did I see a double shockwave from the “You Can’t Escape” That usually happens when he combos in his airborne stomp after his You Can’t Escape
I don’t see V2’s first fight being benefited at all by them being able to blast or punch V1 with their Knuckleblaster. I feel like a melee attack for a boss of their speediness just wouldn’t work and would be unnecessary. V2’s second fight also likely wouldn’t benefit if they were able to use the Whiplash on V1. A mechanic that affects the player’s movement like how the whiplash does against regular enemies would be annoying to fight.
V2 likely just doesn’t get the opportunity to use their arms in battle. V1 is likely just too speedy to land a punch on. And if you think about it, V1’s light-weight design compared to V2’s heavier design means that whiplashing them would probably just reel in V1 to V2, which would obviously not be good.
So, a quick tip for Sisyphus in brutal mode is just parry and dashing during phase 2. The delay explosion are easily avoidable with a dash and it seems your healing is lowered in this mode, so parrying is your only way to heal (besides the green variation of the railgun). While doing this, just spam some coins and railcoin
I just fought Sisyphus and I found in phase two just revving up the chainsaw is also a good way to kill him, it’s simplicity makes it easier to focus on parrying and dodging and you get a bunch of health from melee chainsaw
Great vid it helped me understand some of the brutal changes a bit more in depth ty! Also one small thing you forgot: leviathan tail swing is much faster
my bad i didn't know they listed these in another video lol you can still read this if you want to some corrections and additions: -the virtue also attacks faster -streetcleaners are also faster -malfaces shoot out twice or thrice the projectiles they normally shoot -swordsmachine can (at least on 0-2 and 0-3) basically do an unparriable normal attack but with a different sound effect (kind of like a dash) -v2 (2) also gets enraged for about 5-10 seconds if you coin-fist it -soldiers can roll and they attack faster
My biggest gripe is that V2 didn't get any new tools on the higher difficulty. Given how much this game is inspired by DMC (among other things obviously) I figured Hakita would take after DMC4 Dante and make the boss more mechanically difficult by giving him access to more of his movelist as the difficulties increased. Hell, even DMC5 Dante, who has access to the same pool of weapons no matter the difficulty, does more advanced things with said weapons on the higher ones. Was looking forward to every boss having something new (most of them do) but strangely V2 was left out.
i wish for that and for v2's phase 2 (4-4) to be actually moving around, like brutal he moves a little to avoid but on ultrakill must die he just gets good at dodging when sliding but can't jump
I bet V2 will have the entire V1 weapon equipment and will be able to use the knuckleblastrr and whiplash in the respective levels in the ultrakill must die difficulty

An additional change for 1st Gabriel fight (I think), when using the heavy sword attack where he throws a projectile at the end, if it moves for long enough, he can catch it and throw it again
Maybe this was just me being bad but pretty sure another Minos change is that he will do his aerial uppercut even when you're not in the air, often right after you dodge one of his other attacks. This is very much a big deal because it's untelegraphed and so fast that it feels near impossible to react to.
maybe this is just me, but the second V2 fight, it feels like he dashes *way* more, plus im half sure that he'll dodge stuff like the streetcleaners do normally.
Gabe 1 doesn’t actually dash more before throwing his spear at you, BUT he can dash horizontally in Brutal, which makes the attack significantly more unpredictable and dangerous.

Btw. Swordmachine now can kick your face after throwing his sword
Also to note: CoKM's parasites can shoot mid-punch now, and V2 (2) slides around on the pyramid while descending
V1 not only has a speed increase, he actively dashes now
V2 (1-4) can also now shoot your coins if you're not fast enough
An additional change for 1st Gabriel fight (I think), when using the heavy sword attack where he throws a projectile at the end, if it moves for long enough, he can catch it and throw it again
7:36 i thought it was always conductable or i coincidentally get killed when i use electric weapons in there
is this a change or a tip
V2 (1) actually has another change, it's either his health was increased or he has gained more resistance to coins.
No one probably noticed that the Leviathan's sweep attack is now faster and does it twice.
Minos shoots more snakes in phase 2? Nice it just made him easier
Not at all when he starts 2 attacks before you can party it
@@TaxEvasion1452 what do you think im some kind of sniper? Nuh uh i suck so I use them as heals
V2 also seems to dodge around and avoid attacks a lot more, or maybe that's just a side-effect of the speed increase.
In pinos it also became nearly impossible to heal off him with anything except parries which is why he shoots more snakes in phase 2
As far as I know, 4-4 v2 is permanently enraged after being punched by the knuckleblaster (until next phase)
Just tested this, V2 is not permently enraged after you punch him with the knuckleblaser it just lasts about 5 seconds.
Oh by the way, One of the changes in the swordsmachine is that he can still shoot/thorw is sword while enraged
Maybe this was just me being bad but pretty sure another Minos change is that he will do his aerial uppercut even when you're not in the air, often right after you dodge one of his other attacks. This is very much a big deal because it's untelegraphed and so fast that it feels near impossible to react to.
1:12 cool, now the firestarter isnt useless at all
It wasn't useless to begin with, in those sections where the game likes sending an entire army your way it can be amazing
@@valgorup8127 i personally never use it,but yeah
I only use the firestarter when there's an insurrectionist i don't know why
God damn Gabriel have like 3x his base hp now in act 1
Robotic vergil never missed his health day
Don't forget shorter taunt cool down for gabes
maybe this is just me, but the second V2 fight, it feels like he dashes *way* more, plus im half sure that he'll dodge stuff like the streetcleaners do normally.
I hope V2 will have the red weapon variants (or alternates) on the highest difficulty
Also (I might be wrong) TCOKM's black hole doesn't disappear when he enters the second phase
That also happens on violent.
minotaur also now swipes you off of its back making you unable to (kind of) cheese the fight
Minos prime also has adjusted combos in second phase that remove his parryable moves other than the snake.
Quick note on v2 (2)
I noticed that now if you throw a coin while he Is not attacking, he will counter ricoshot you
I'll keep the street cleaner comments to myself for now, but anyway how much is muscle memory messing you guys up on some of the new ai rework?
Nahh that Earthmover's static laser wall is just evil
Mindflayers now aim their lasers at you
Doesn’t the swords machine have a alternate melee attack when it does not have its sword
gabe can also do his spear lunge from the side. oh yeah, and v2 can dash away from things like whiplash
minos shooting more snakes is actually good as heaing in phase 2 is usually a pain due to his attacks becoming unparriable
minos also really really loves doing a die attack right after he did the first die attack on brutal. It happened to me a lot but im not sure.
V2(2) can also do dash around like you. Especially annoying in phase 2
idk if it was just because i was getting my ass kicked but phase two minos "JUDGEMENT" attack seemed to instakill me.
My man misses so much information that even the comments are the thing that help him
The sword machine will now atack you without it's sword in phase 2
Oh thanks I was thinking I just forgot about that and I start swearing at Gabriel completely in rage
Noticed that NONE of the bullets from morbesus go in a straight line if thst wasn't obv
Forgot to mention:
Swordmachine now can attack even without a sword
Gabe 1 doesn’t actually dash more before throwing his spear at you, BUT he can dash horizontally in Brutal, which makes the attack significantly more unpredictable and dangerous.
