I love this episode. Fred's parents are a welcome change from the type of parents usually seen on the show. Even Angel, Wesley, and Cordelia seem to agree.

Kate is gone (the actress left to go to law and order) however there are comics that pick up as a official season six of the show after the show ends, and Kate reappears there as well as a bunch of other characters who were forgotten about
Fred endured so much trauma on Pylea that I'm glad got fully acknowledged. To be treated like an animal, lesser than, and made to be a slave fractured her and she didn't know how to face the fact that she wasn't just crazy. That she did, in fact, go through all of that rather than hallucinate it.
That confrontation of it all in the train station never fails to make me cry

In Fredless, Fred asks about Angel’s relationship with Buffy, curious because he left so abruptly to meet her at the end of the previous episode. One of the funniest moments in the show is when Cordelia and Wesley put on an overly-dramatic, humorous play that summarizes what Angel and Buffy's off-screen reunion might have been like. When Angel meets Fred's parents a very funny scene. Just comedy overload from Lorne talking about The Godfather 3 film, brilliant writing. Fred of course doesn't really want to leave, and works out what is happening and saves the day. Wesley talking about his past and childhood very telling, and you can see how this has affected him as an adult. All in all a very entertaining episode.
"If you'd seen what they made of me..." I love this episode so much. One of the best openings ever, you can tell Charisma and Alexis were having fun reenacting the Bangel romance. Love that we have at least one Buffyverse character with no parental issues.
"Wesley's the brains of the operation, and Gunn's the muscle, and Cordy's the heart.."
I just love the way Cordy looks up and smiles when Fred says that ❤❤😊😊 Who'd have guessed Cordelia Chase, the snooty, shallow cheerleader, would become the emotional core of a badass superteam?

Being suspicious of Fred's parents is the natural reaction. This, after all, is the Buffy/Angelverse, where everybody (EVERYBODY!) has parental issues. Bringing in two genuinely good parents who immediately want to help is one of the cleverest fakeouts the show can pull.
Lorne isn't made of money! First that monster from Pylea crashed through, which is nobody's fault, sure, then Angel's car wrecked it, which, ok, I'm sure Lorne wasn't too upset about that, probably just glad to be back to LA, but then Gunn's old gang comes in and basically demolished the place for fun, like WTF! It's expensive to keep fixing the place!

I’m in the small minority that doesn’t like Fred. She’s just a cheap parody of Willow. Nothing more. A reductive parody of Willow. She’s annoying and contributes nothing other.
I'll contribute to your being a minority. I see your point -- her brainy-ness is sort of what Willow was, originally, and I suppose Wesley could as easily have served as the brainy know-it-all, as he did until now -- but I don't find her annoying, and splitting the demon knowledge and the brainy stuff into two characters makes sense, a la Giles and Willow. I could have done without most of the love triangle stuff, though.
Don't totally understand your crush on Amy, but yeah she's cute & talented, good with lines. Writers for As3e5: Joss W, D Greenwalt, Mere Smith & Scott Murphy.
