      Current projections, no.
      Like the other comment mentioned, several short decades, yes. Actually give it 2 and we will enter an era of that type of tech.
      Currently, we are at the dawn of AI emergence and humanity colliding(alongside other things; relationships, jobs, economy, infrastructure, searching for Meaning, loneliness, and other tech advances etc)
      Expect drastic societal changes in 7 years. 10 at most.

      @@d.minaru7707Agreed, I would say maybe 2 decades before the technology is viable, then several more before they become something readily available and at a low enough cost for even the middle class to hope to afford. Because some people forget, you will have to have some serious surgery for the replacements and that will require either robots or skilled surgeons

    we are ALREADY in a dystopian present as is, and a "cyberpunk" life style simply means "high technology, low life mortality and lively hood altogether" we are already living it.
    everyone keeps talking about "edgerunners" and wanting to become a full cyborg, thinking it's cool and whatnot..
    but remember that even in NightCity normal people existed, and only high mortality mercenaries needed all these enhancement.
    so will you truly change all your bio-body to a full tech body becoming Adam Smasher more than David. just to "look cool"?? you realize you would invest in these things BECAUSE you require them for survival. not just a fashion show.
    yeah i get it .. "in nightcity it's fashion over function" but again... NightCity is a battle zone, and not every single city around is the same. if you read the lore, majority of the cities across the planet became high tech, but only some turned into battle zones.

    • @TheSmokingMustache
      @TheSmokingMustache Год назад +3

      Yea... people don't seem to understand that Cyberpunk is a a dystopia, not a nice place to live. And while a lot of normal people have simple augs, like neural devices and minor prosthetic replacements. You are right, the highly modified individuals spend a LOT of money on it, usually with stolen money/parts, as you said, because they needed it. And a lot of the fashion stuff you see is very similar to our current world where people with lots of disposable income spend money on fancy augs.

    • @TrueInvisible
      @TrueInvisible Год назад +3

      @@TheSmokingMustache frankly enough when you think about it ... the similarities between NightCity [ *A BATTLE ZONE* ] and out ENTIRE planet are scary!
      according to the CyberPunk table top game lore "the source from which the video game was adapted" in 2044 the WHOLE WORLD was built from "amputees" the ACTUAL physician naming for those who replaced their limbs for prosthetics, and turned themselves to cyborgs. the entire world was already super high tech! *BUT NOPE! NOT EVERYONE WAS A CYBORG NOR DID EVERYONE OWN ENOUGH MONEY TO BECOME ON! IN FACT MAJORITY OF THE WORLD LIVED IN POVERTY* forget "low wages" or minimal wage, nah! after the world had unified its currency to "eurodollars" which in itself is a crypto currency! only corporations that deal with weapons, and technology, and "chrome" survived and thrived [no wonder the american corporation Miltec and its nemesis the japanese Arasaka the technology focused corporation both are fighting over NightCity] mind you! when these corporations fight, NONE OF THEIR PEOPLE ARE LOST! ONLY THE [ARMED FORCES] ARE PAID AS COLLATERAL DAMAGE! SHOWING OFF THEIR OWN DEVELOPMENT! and by the way, just like those both, the entire planet IS OWNED BY OTHER CORPORATIONS! that's where the "battle zones" were born! dystopias where the "vigilantes" established their very own gangs and want to take over the entire districts! "battle zones" are places where the "military and police" *DON'T DARE ENTERING UNLESS A DISASTER WAS ABOUT TO HAPPEN* IT'S an unwritten rule!
      while mortals are being used as physical world fodder, in the NET netrunners are building their own worlds and weapons.
      A.I has been developed very well, to the point we can't keep going without it! also NOBODY IS SAFE AT ALL!
      normal citizens "edgerunner episode 1 and 2" are all collateral damage that nobody cares for! in a dystopia where "organic food is a luxury, inflation destroyed the banks they converted to crypto completely, and your survival is not guaranteed" plus ALL THE LEGENDS are in the grave!
      Cyberpunk world IS NOT SOMETHING TO LOOK FORWARD TO LIVING IN!
      our current dystopia as is, is more than enough! with inflation, housing prices, unemployment, "minimal wage" is worthless. and only the multi-billionaires could afford the "chroming" .. being an "edgerunner / merc" is NOT a nice life, nor a COOL life! it's a job that keeps you on your toes nonstop, and you WILL LEAVE at any given moment! [how many times did you snipe enemies in the game without giving it a second thought?!]
      becoming a human weapon.. REQUIRES A VERY GOOD REASON! and your own WILL to replace your own organic body with a machine, not easy! but the circumstances won't give you a choice! i hope i made the point clear! even in our own world, cyborg-ifying yourself is too much costly, and pointless! want to become adam smasher? what for???? let's say you indeed chrome yourself head to toe.. what next?? you aren't residing in a battle zone, and you aren't among a gang, so what's the point? also ... OUR OWN ISPs CAN'T AFFORD YOU WITH A GOOD ENOUGH BANDWIDTH FOR "QUICK HACKS" OR NET RUNNING ... also also .. our own technological advancement is not that far still ... triple that "also" we are facing an economical regression. and crypto is not THAT strong yet!
      in fact reaching "cyberpunk" life style IS NOT A GOAL! but a disaster to avoid!

It's both exciting and scary. (for each piece of technological advancement we get, there's also the dangers of it falling into the wrong hands).

    Being cyberpunk isn't just about having cybernetics. If you just have cybernetics then you've gotten the "cyber" part down. The "punk" in cyberpunk is low-life meets hi-tech and resisting the "system" or corporate colonialism. We prolly are heading to a world that is very similar to Cyberpunk 2077, but majority will still not be cyberpunks.

    • @TheSmokingMustache
      @TheSmokingMustache Год назад +2

      like a lot of technology, you could technically make several bits of the tech, th hurdle is the meshing with humans bodies and the usual cost to produce them, think about 3d printers and how expensive they were and where they are now, its exponential but we aren't there yet.

    • @BrandonGavin_EDC
      @BrandonGavin_EDC Год назад +1

      @@TheSmokingMustache exactly. The cost for mass producing will take a long time to get there alone. Only the Uber rich would have access to anything for a long time.

    • @TheSmokingMustache
      @TheSmokingMustache Год назад +2

      @@BrandonGavin_EDC Absolutely, I'm tracking the prices of metal 3d printers, I've watched them go from millions of dollars to hundreds of thousands, and intend to get one when the price comes down to the level of some CNC equipment but that will probably be another 10 years or more, itll speed up, but additive manufacturing is imo, the key to any future cybernetics that will be widely available. But that will be a long time since what you need is a multi material printer that can integrate different tech and materials in the printing process to get a cleaner mesh between biology and technology. Honestly it's likely we will have lab grown or printed limbs and body parts or stem cell based regrowing tech well before we have true cybernetics due to the bodies ability to heal with the right conditions

    • @BrandonGavin_EDC
      @BrandonGavin_EDC Год назад

      @@TheSmokingMustache probably so, too bad the medical industry is hard to trust anymore. All about profits and I don’t really trust them to make something that works perfectly because there is more money in continually treating the issue. I hope for the peoples sake that need them that it comes to fruition but that the company responsible really wants to help them more than anything.
