when you guys first came out, I was so excited by the potential and direction vice seemed to be headed for. now, it's a shame. you guys have let obvious biases get in the way of objective reporting and seem to be quickly losing sight of the type of content that made you so popular in the first place.

Generally, satire is topical. Telling a fucking Timothy Dalton fan you are Timothy Dalton for no reason and continuing a correspondence with them which doesn't even end in a reveal of the facts, that is not satire. It's just weird. The purpose of satire is to expose/ridicule stupidity using humor, especially within the context of a play, novel or film.

But in person you would of never guessed of our "alternative" life on the web. In person, we are completely different people. I am nice, friendly, and helpful. I think he's a decent looking, white man who has at least average income job. Internet trolling can be a totally innocent way to have fun as long as you're not hurting anyone. I once found a teenager on the internet who said that they were a shapeshifter, so I spent the next 3 days messaging them with the worst grammar possible trying to play along. They fell for it. It was awesome.

One thing I find really interesting about this... it doesn't seem that it ever occurs to him that the people who respond might also be trolling.
Posting pictures of dead animals isn't trolling. Trolling is slyly baiting someone into a reaction or argument without them realising you're a troll. It's an art form, you don't just post provocative pictures. What this guy's doing is closer to flaming than anything.
Trolling is when you purposely say outrageous or dumb things in order to get a reaction. Its basically a game of how many people can you piss off lol its really fun

I've been on the internet since the 90's and have done my fair share of trolling, but this video is stupid and people who think of trolling as some kind of lifestyle tend to be embittered shut-ins. I'm pretty much trolling right now... but also serious.
I really don't see how what he does is immoral. He doesn't have a negative effect on society. He doesn't harm anyone. He does things that are entertaining to him and at the very worst, he brings a moment of upset to a few random people who choose to involve themselves in what he posts.

I remember when me and my friend ran a thread on 4chan where we'd post victims of domestic abuse, mostly women since we loved to make people think that whining about something on the internet will change anything. Those are very disturbed people. There's no point in trying to understand them or in thinking that you're going to influence them in anyway. The best you can do is turn the conversation into something that other people can learn or benefit from despite the troll in the conversation. These people are making the world a worse place.
