I think without that halo Le clerc could of had a serious injury. I was a halo hater up until that moment, but it really did its job well and potentially saved a young promising F1 stars life. You could see the damage it sustained when they did some close of shots of the wrecked cars.

Missed the only interesting battle: Ericcson vs Hartley Hartley using my favourite strategy of inviting an overtake in turn 1 grabbing drs n taking the sauber out for chips. Used to do that soo much on f1 games. Never failed.
They need to make so if the car in the back is at a 0.3 or 0.2 difference and uses drs the car in the front can also activate drs so we see some side by side battles
This race got me a little worried about DRS for next year, in some circuits it's already powerful enough... for those circuits they should reduce the duration of it's activation (like "for 5s despite the DRS area going for 10s")
I just pulled up Hartley's onboard... hadn't seen that angle yet... HOLY SHIT you are 100% correct, the way Alonso's car was rotating, there's no way Leclerc's melon wouldn't have been hit by something without the halo. The other angles don't show Alonso's rotation like that.
i think the halo on the sharlls' sauber was cracked (the carbon part of the halo), but still pretty sad to see TWO of the drivers you're wanted to see race where out in t1
If anyone still has any doubt that the halo did indeed save Leclerc from a head injury or worse, search for the frame by frame of the crash. It shows extremely clearly the front right tyre of Alonso hitting the halo. Had the halo not been there, it would have hit Leclerc in the head. I saw it on reddit, but if you search around I'm sure you'll find it.

Even with a very small rear wing and DRS he was only 10km/h faster. Trust me, that's nothing. Especially on the Kemmel straight.
