I had a slop issue like this in one of my cars. I didn't have any washers that would fit so I improvised. I had a catalogue for office supplies and the front cover was one of those clear thin plastic acetate sheets. I made washers out of that using a needle to make a hole and then a hole punch to cut it out. Worked perfectly and didn't bind.
@@TAMIYALegends It was a drawing pin not a needle. I like the irony that both the drawing pins and the hole punch were bought from the catalogue itself lol. Just a tiny bit of slop but made a rattle, you might be good once you get your servo in mate. If not...catalogues.
@@TAMIYALegends Also I'm loving what you are doing here, you've got such a good eye for aesthetics. I reckon white springs would be perfect. Looking forward to how they turn out, I've heard PS works fine too cos of the flex it has. Just go lightly with each dusting of paint.
Of all your projects this one is really giving me back flashbacks to my youth. I thinks it's because I never had the money to afford a top end race car out of the box, I got a lower end car and then gradually upgraded it over time whenever I had the money. I love the way it has a purposeful look and can't wait to see it on the track. Awesome work buddy 👍
Wow, it's looking really good mate!! Personally I'd leave the springs as they are, I think they look pretty good as is, but each to their own. I can't wait to see it finished and running, should be really good. Awesome video as always, one of the few highlights in an otherwise crappy week for me ;)
Looking quite a bit racier Glenn! I'm doing a build of one of these using a 0-500g digital balance to minimize weight as much as possible, which will be running a long can 380 size brushless, small capacity 3S Lipo, and that carbon battery strap that you didn't consider an upgrade? Well, it is lighter and it reduces your C of G, so I think it is actually worthwhile bud! p.s. I've also had quite a bit of success running sensorless 380 size brushless motors (around 3000kv) on pod axle Tamiya classics, Hornet, Grasshopper, and even the Lunchbox! Using a Blackfoot/MB motor pinion gear and the 380 motor mount from the 'hopper you can mount and run a 380 brushless easily. The Lunchie motor gets pretty warm, but I've had no running issues, the lunchbox still pulls wheelies well even with the front of the gearbox running on a central pivot (a la DT-01) so it doesn't clack-clack, and is way less prone to unexpected rollovers and being upset on the bumpy stuff with the much lighter 380 size hanging on the axle. It most definitely reduces the 'Tail wagging the Dog' that all the pod axles suffer from. Perhaps you could try this out in a future project/video. I absolutely love the difference it made to my low maintenance Tamiya Classics! Happy RC'ing!
Yes the streeing kit does work as it's stronger. And my clod buster ( hulk version ) has green springs and I used normal green paint and it's still on it after 10yrs
My friend painted the spring on his Falcon pink to match the colour scheme he wanted. The paint is still on the springs after 35 years! (he also painted the shock bodies black)
On the steering I would use some thin shims to take the slack out. Something like m3 x 0.1mm shims or m4 x 0.1mm shims. RC bearings in the U.K. do suitable shims.
Loving this one Glenn. Just brought a plasma edge gun metal grey. Just spent double the the value in hop ups! But it’s part of the fun. My b6.2 will leave it for dust still. Lol
Yeah, I knew you would find that steering upgrade to be of value! The original setup was terrible, and when I did mine last year I could feel it immediately, the steering got way tighter and more responsive, basically a whole different driving experience! I'll be looking forward to next episode, I need to learn about the highspeed gearset. I'll be "gearing up" mine next year just by replacing the wheels with 8th scale road wheels, I just need to find some adapters that fit. I love this video series, you know that already!
I can't remember which steering set I have on my TT02 but I did have 3 washers under the bridge to take out that slop. I had some brass bushings that were the right size allow me to take the slop of the bellcranks. I had them on top while still using the stock Tamiya screws. As always love the videos. Getting parts for my plasma edge kit currently.
Great video my friend, i love performance series. Because being a racer ,its close to my current thinking an race program thoughts . Also will the days of thunder truck be coming back for anything else. I loved that.
Never thought about spring colours..... but those white ones should look great with the upgrades. Shame about the steering upgrade, I had something similar on my M06 with Yeah Racing upgrade..... washers and threadlock as you say. 😀 Can't wait for next update. Happy RCing too. 🤛
Love your video am doing the same but making it into dt02 ms I wouldn’t spray the spring there is a upgrade set of springs in white jar med and sod set I’ve got them for my build numbers are 53974 front and 53975 rear the also fit aeration dampers.
Loving this series! My jazrider steering bridge was tight so I measured the brass bush then linished the bottom of the bridge until I had a couple thou of clearance and it was mint then!
Hey Glenn I was looking to do something similar with my tt02b i was looking at using the df03 wing mounts to lower and have a more shallow wing angle. I'm pretty sure they have the same type fitting.
So awesome to see. Anyway Glen, my TT-02R clone is coming along beautifully! I’ve installed the 3° rear hubs and a TT-01 one-way diff and the car is just smooth as glass. Interestingly, if using the TT-01 one way unit on a TT-02, you can’t use the 1280 diff bearings on them; you must use the supplied flanged bearing and washers in their place, making sure to offset the one-way to the right (3 washers left of ring gear, 1 on the right). Definitely worth the money but at $40, it’s not an investment everyone will make.
Hey Glenn, great to see this project taking shape. In terms of the motor, not sure if you’ve decided yet, are you going to run stock class at the track, which I presume would be blinky 13.5?
I'm rebuilding one I bought used...If you have a chance watch my short video on what happens when you don't use bearings. I'm excited to see how your upgrades work on your TT02B.
Yeah 100% it would be unfortunately no indoor track even remotely close to me and we are right in the middle of winter! So I’m just doing it the best way I can 🤷🏼♂️
Love this project. And you are the nicest guy in RC on RUclips!
Wow that’s very kind of you Richard 😊😊😊
Never had any interest in the TT02B until this series… just picked up the MS version !
A waffer thin washer / shim with some light oil will sort out that play 😁. Really enjoying this Glenn 👍.
Excellent thanks Sean 😊👊🏻
Really taking shape there Glenn.
Really enjoying this series Glenn, top stuff! 👍😎
Thanks Rob 😊👋🏻

It's looking good so far Glenn 👌 can't wait to see a running vid of it 👍. Keep up the awesome vids Glenn 👍

for the slop on the steering you could install the foam ball end protectors or some o rings to keep it from jiggling.
Oh yeah that’s an idea 😊👊🏻
Looking really good so far!👌👍
Thank you 😊

Really, really enjoying this series of videos. This car is going to be awesome!!! You're knocking it out of the park yet again!!😃👍👍
Thank you 😊
Looking great, excited to see it finished and running!
Thanks buddy 😊👊🏻
yup she's gettin there..... love it 😉
Thanks buddy 😊👊🏻
G'day Glenn i've been hanging to see more on the build. It's going to be a weapon mate 👍👍
Thanks buddy 😊
Very cool mate. I can tell this is gonna be the best TT02B, bar none!
Haha I don’t know about that lol 😂 but I know it’s pretty darn cool though 😎

Yeah at some point I’ve got to fit the lights and sound system to it 🙊🙊🙊
Hello Tamiya it's Robert I have some great business for you has you know, this year and this channel is fantastic too.

@@TAMIYALegends no problem I love watching all your videos and find them easy to watch and give me ideas to keep it up.
I think what you will find, is that when the servo is attached, it will be much more rigid. It sure does look pretty good on the BLING factor. lol
Thanks buddy 😊😊😊
Loving this series!
My jazrider steering bridge was tight so I measured the brass bush then linished the bottom of the bridge until I had a couple thou of clearance and it was mint then!

Glen I noticed there is a bit of bump steer. You will want to eliminate that to race it
Hey 👋🏻
And ideas on how I’d do that on this model buddy?
Looks awesome 👍👍
Thanks David 😊👊🏻
It’s coming on great I think that will be seriously quick on the track
Yeah I can’t wait to get it on an actual track 😊😊😊
Hey Glenn I was looking to do something similar with my tt02b i was looking at using the df03 wing mounts to lower and have a more shallow wing angle. I'm pretty sure they have the same type fitting.
Yeah that’s definitely an option, I’ve actually gone with the new TD4 long mounts. Actually that’s next Wednesdays video 😎👊🏻
I found the Jaz steering to be slightly sloppy. Great video as always Glenn. Great to start to work day!
Thanks Paul 😊👊🏻
Coming along sweet👌👌😎
Yeah I’m enjoying this one 😊

Yeah still haven’t bought the actual race combo yet 🧐🤷🏼♂️
I'm rebuilding one I bought used...If you have a chance watch my short video on what happens when you don't use bearings. I'm excited to see how your upgrades work on your TT02B.
Glenn, my man where is the "Tamiya Legends" feature of the "45th 934 turbo rsr coupé" pleeeeze make an episode of it :)
Wouldn't it be wise running it before adding the performance upgrades to have something to compare against?
Yeah 100% it would be unfortunately no indoor track even remotely close to me and we are right in the middle of winter! So I’m just doing it the best way I can 🤷🏼♂️
@@TAMIYALegends Yeah good point. Good video series anyway. 👍🏻
Glenn I make my own adjustable links. Just buy 3mm threaded rod from Amazon and cut to length. Then use standard ball ends
Excellent idea Lee 😊👊🏻
Glenn what is the difference in the new shocks to old?
They just seem to have made they look different, main difference is the shock tops are now finned instead of smooth 🤷🏼♂️
Glenn are you supporting the Canadian Truckers?
Nice
Thank you 😊
Do they sell a carbon chassis for this car??
Not that I know of, I believe there is one for the standard TT02 but not sure if that’ll work on the B version 🤔🤷🏼♂️
Slow going this project lol, are you painting the body set soon?
Some like this kind of thing, some don’t 🤷🏼♂️
Yeah body Set is next Wednesdays video 👊🏻
why 3 hole pistons in the front?
My thinking was it would make them slightly softer 🤷🏼♂️
Would you not want the back of the car softer than the front? If your talking performance?
@@markbruton-young9228
Quite possibly Mark, I’m just learning as I go with this tbh 😅
Personally I would run the same 2 hole pistons all around with harder oil in the front.
Love gold springs don't do it. Lol
