- Today, we're doing a quick walk-around on the completed Morton Buildings barn and showing you guys what they built. We were actually at Equip Expo the week they finished it, so when we returned home, it was amazing to walk into a finished barn.
We couldn't be more thankful for the work the construction crew performed and for the entire building process with Morton Buildings. The whole process took about 3 weeks from start to finish, which is just incredible to us.

Thank you for the support! And as always, thank you for watching.
Phase 1 complete :) Now for the interior work!!
Hey Brian so is the pull barn for personal use/storage or is it for your business for the trucks mowers trailer
Just a few things -
-The front of my shop I put vinyl siding (faux cedar shake) at the top portion. It was the same that I used when I built my house. It helped tie it all together.
-My doors were 12x12 insulated and Wayne Dalton took almost a year to get them delivered. I hope you ordered them already.
-I had several sheets of white panels left over when I built my shop so I built a 3x8 oil and fuel storage locker. Gets it out of sight and less chance of a fire.
-Seal the concrete floor before you move in. Major pain to do it later.
Great tips!
Congrats on the building and a new home, you've been busy! I'm in the process of putting up a man cave/shop, 60x120x18, we just got the walls and trusses up last week, so much more to go! It's really fun and also hard work making my dream come true!!
Take care and don't work to hard.
Sounds awesome!!
Don't waste your money on a tractor for materials handling in the building. A small tractor would be great for property maintenance but for materials handling you will be much happier with a small forklift. More maneuverable, more compact and much greater lifting power. The controls on a forklift also allow for much greater finesse as compare to a tractor with forks on the loader. Also keep in mind that a forklift that is perfect for inside on the concrete floor is not going to do well on gravel outdoors. A small solid-tire forklift can get stuck easy on gravel. I suspect that eventually you'll have everything paved and the concrete aprons so it will become less of an issue.
Thank you! That’s what I was wondering. We service a forklift commercial company, I guess that’s my in! I’ll have to buy one of their old units lol
@@BriansLawnMaintenanceThere are good deals to be had on older units with a lot of life left in them. Check around for a propane powered unit if you can. Much safer running indoors and they run super clean.
Definitely agree
I love it, won’t be long now. Glad your dream is coming true Brian, Liz,& kiddos.💯👍🏾❤️😍🥰🙏🏾✝️🙏🏾
I think a walk behind high-low would be a great for your building. You get the lift and save on floor space.
Love my Kubota B2650. Have loader, backhoe, forks, tiller, grader box and rear blade. It’s my orange wheelbarrow. Does so much … what it doesn’t do well is lift things usually with the forks smoothly, evenly or level. For me, I rarely do this so I get by. If I was lifting pallets off shelves regularly I’d want something else. Plus, no compact or smaller tractor can lift 1500-2000 lb at full height. Keep in mind weight is often 2-4 ft in front of the SSQA connector which reduces capacity further.
This is excellent! So happy for you, Liz and the Kids 🎉
Get a mini skid like a Mt 100 or Kubota for the shop and future jobs
I'd recommend the apron being at least 24' this way your truck is completely out the dirt/mud
Yeah I was going to do 15’ but we’ll see how things shake out
Put the hot water pipes in the concrete slab before it’s poured.
Man, the place is awesome. I been thinking about one and putting a small apartment in it to live in.
Congratulations Brian!!! It looks sick, when it’s all ready and filled with your stuff, it will feel good!!
Awesome setup! House and barn. Well deserved! You're hard work is paying off.
Goals!! Hoping to build something similar in the next few years.
If you’re doing a gravel driveway lay down, geotextile cloth first that’ll stabilizer ground and you never won’t have potholes
We're budgeted for concrete. I wish I had a temporary up to the barn but we'll probably have about 50' of dirt until we finish the drive for the home.
You can get a stacker forklift that has no seat on it and you walk behind it and won’t take up much space in shop and they are pretty budget friendly
I've seen those, that's not a bad idea and a third the price/footprint.
That property is amazing. The yard, the home and the barn! Im in MI also. I would love to do something like this.
Very nice that the exact size that id like to do one of these day.
Looks awesome Brian!!!
We need a moving video from the storage units to the new barn.
Yes please do a movieing in video brian
I wish we had green grass still. We have moved snow twice at least already. And more is coming down right now.
Looks awesome congratulations you deserve it, can't wait to see everything completed. Bobcat maybe?
Awesome. Has to be so exciting! Good job.
Get a small warhouse forklift. Tractors need weights to kift uo high and are pain to move around inside
Good looking building. I live about 15 miles from Morton, Illinois, the headquarters for Morton Buildings, and mow one business there.
Small world!
Congratulations
Awesome looking buiding i never understand why they are always so tall, such a pain to heat
Nice barn build Brian looking good
You have to put in drains to catch ice and snow melt and to wash your vehicles in the winter. Spend the money you will be happier later on.
BEAUTIFUL👍👍
Looking good
Dang bro!! Looks great!
Keep rolling on
Rocking the big sky hat. Love it. I miss Montana. It’s being taken over by California moving in.
Man I can only imagine. Real estate prices there were nuts!
@@BriansLawnMaintenance i bet. I used to live in Bozeman. I would say something’s but not sure who and where watch’s your channel. In a nutshell the rich granolas live in big sky. And Bozeman has quite a few also.
very nice, kudos 2 you man!
Looking good!
Great video, you should consider putting in radiant floor heating you'll like it alot.
We have. I passed. $40k. Too expensive for me lol
Badass… love it🙌
Dude Brian, congrats man. This is badass! 👊🏼
Thanks a ton!
Nice building Brain! Keep up the hard work.
Looking good 👍
Crown hi-lo
A nearly used propane forklift, they left a lot of weight, then pick up a big compact utility tractor later
hey brain its looking great where did you get you plans for the building done
The barn came with its own construction plans through Morton. The home was a custom design from TK Design in South Lyon MI.
Let's go Brian🎉🎉
looks amazing!
Super nice building!
Thank you
@brianslawnmaintenance looks amazing!!!
Congrats!
Hopefully you got leaf guards installed.
Looks Great.
Gutters yes, not sure if they have leaf guards though. Might be something to look into!
Definitely a forklift is what you need
Looking good :)
Sweet
Nice👍
That is so sick. Hey are you still using yardbook?
Yep, all day every day.
Is there going to be room to turn around with trailers or are you going to have to back up your driveway?
We'll have to turn around in the driveway/apron area. Unfortunately just not wide enough for a turn around spot.
Looks great, although I thought you were building the barn for your business equipment? If you are putting your camper in there you are down 50% of that space which would be tight considering how much business equipment you own.
Camper temporarily, we may store it off-site for $75 a month and like you said, open up that lane again, 100%.
Oh that makes alot more sense@@BriansLawnMaintenance
@@BriansLawnMaintenancepark the camper behind the barn and either make a simple pole shelter / carport, a tent style like the ones that span 2 shipping containers or one of those big cover / jacket types to protect it from the elements. You've got the land. Seems a waste to pay for storage elsewhere. Invest that money into a shelter for it. Just my 5 cents 😊
When i have one built im having them guys do it do the travel two indiana
Sure do!
Go with a forklift. A tractor with forks is just too long, and may not have the height/weight lift capacity.
Get a cheap used beat up forklift that works. This way you can lift 4,000lb and it can fire in tight spots. You won’t have to take everything out to use it to put something in
Good idea
Great looking building. I look forward to when i get the funds built up to build my future dream metal building. Oh did you find out what the wind rating is on them? What they can withstand in high winds?
You’ll get there man!
Not sure on the wind rating sorry!
Do Morton buildings usually not include a poured concrete floor in the price?
Very few, if any, do. They do have subs for the work typically but we’re trenching utilities, and my concrete guy for the house was able to provide that work.
How much dirt did u have to bring in. Looks like a bunch.
A gob. I couldn’t even tell you.
What did morton charge you for that set up?
I’ll have a full price break down video in about another month as things wrap up entirely on the build.
Used forklift 100%. We have a small new Holland tractor with forks. They are sort of ok sometimes, but suck overall. Poor visibility, hard to maneuver with the steering in the front, just general lack of functionality and control versus a fork lift. You can get a decent old used fork on market place for not a lot of money.
That's good feedback, thanks brother.
👍
Hey man are you going to be putting gas fuel tanks for your shop
If I’m allowed! But honestly I’m not super concerned about that atm.
Nice building! BTW... I would not want to be you when it comes time for a new roof on that house. :-)
Hopefully won’t have to deal with that for 20+ years lol
@@BriansLawnMaintenance That's a good thing. Start an escrow now because in 20 years that roof will cost $100K.
Used forklift tractors take up too much room when stuff is parked in there
Good call
Thanks joe biden
This is 🔥 homie …Hard work pays …Happy to see your wins 💪🏽💯🫡
I appreciate it!
