Awesome table Andy, I love the fact that you did everything with hand tools and built it as it would have been done in that time. I haven’t seen Ep 6 yet but I hope you got an on screen credit. You got Skills…
I enjoyed the hand tool work. I know you historically do a lot of hand plane and chisel work. To have the hand saw and bit and brace commitment in a shop with a massive bandsaw and a foot operated mortiser is impressive. I absolutely love seeing your little guy wanting to help. My five year old is there with me. Precious moments . -Ben
FYI everybody - I’m reposting a shorter version of this build without commentary because the Episode it’s featured in airs tonight at 8 p.m. check out the description for more details. Enjoy some vintage AR woodworking!!
Great job on the table, it had to be really satisfying to do it with hand tools. It is amazing how well some of those old wood planes work. I have jointer just like that one, need to break it out and use it more than I do.
Combining two of my favorite things... The Chosen and Woodworking... beautiful table, now my wife will want one. Seems like fun, but I'm using power tools, haha.
I love the Chosen series. Its a more realistic version of the gospel of Jesus. I can't wait to see it. I'm still on season 2 episode 3 so if you spoil anything I will get to eventually.
Another friend of mine pretty well summed it up when he states "to learn you must do"... Keep at it and it'll eventually come to you. That is, unless you have two left feet like mine, LoL!
Great build! Quick question. What determines you using your western chisels vs your japanese chisels during a project? I'm just getting into traditional woodworking and can't decide on which style higher quality chisels I want to buy first.
I would say don’t start off with “high quality chisels” to start. Get the cheap ones and learn how to beat them up and then sharpen. I promise you will learn way more by using the chisels than just admiring a set of expensive ones.
Yeah I agree with the above comment. My first set of chisels were a low budget set of blue handle Irwin’s that I still use today. I have expensive Lie Nielsen chisels but it takes a lot of experience to really notice the differences. The biggest being that the high quality chisels will hold an edge longer because their made from better steel. The biggest hurdle you’re facing with hand tools is learning how to sharpen, once you figure that out then you can start to fully understand the tool
I appreciate you Andy. May I ask you... When time is money, how do you sell a product that could have been easily made with power tools over the time it takes to hand drill mortes'?
@@AndyRawls I have watched some of it and it’s not biblically accurate at all. It’s just a bunch of perceived life story by Hollywood and a lot of it is made up.
@@bigscreenbird8198 the show is not intended to be a replacement for scripture, it’s a narrative telling the story of Jesus. I would encourage you to watch this video: ruclips.net/video/S1E-gFGKVWw/видео.html. Dallas Jenkins, the executive producer and one of the writers, clearly addresses the very criticism you’ve expressed. I’ll also add that Hollywood has nothing to do with this TV series, Hollywood wouldn’t touch this script with a 100’ pole. It’s in their best interest to keep shows like this off the radar. What’s amazing about this show is it’s completely funded by the viewers, no big Hollywood studio money needed. It’s the largest crowd funded TV series of all time. When you stand back and really think about that you can’t deny there’s something bigger going on here!
@@AndyRawls well all that said that’s good. I used “Hollywood” as a colloquially term but I see your point. If I’m being totally honest I am and agnostic atheist and also hold the belief that Jesus was just a prophet and not a divine being. Yes, I understand you believe but would you be willing to answer questions on why you believe what you do? I’m nobody on RUclips and would even just talk with you in private and not record anything. Love ur craftsmanship.
works beautifully
Fantastic work sir. Going back now and watching the original 2 videos.
Absolutely beautiful!! You are a true craftsman my friend!!!
That table is quite a hand-crafted project, Andy. And you do it well.
This was awesome. Like timber frame meets fine furniture. Great little trick using the water spray to make the carving easier like green wood
I think he said it's half rubbing alcohol/half water mixture.
Great work, Andy. You are a master.
Bill

Incredible work. I’ve gotta know, how did you attach the top to the base?
cool

You charge accordingly. People who know the value and have the money will pay for it.
What is hide glue?
Do you know what episode the table was used in?
It says at the very end that it is featured in episode 6, albeit with an end card partially in the way.
The show airs tonight at 8:00 pm central. Link is in the description👍
@@AndyRawls thanks!
