Aside from the update maps, are there any other improvements? Such as graphics, route speed, voice, etc? Debating if I should get one for my CR-V that has the same navi system.
I found it worthwhile to update the map; the metro area I live at has had lots of development so new maps, roads, and Points of Interest are really helpful, and it also improved routing because the GPS recognized new roads to route through. Price was nominal: I paid $99 for the new Navigation map DVD at honda.com (which normally sells for $149) and then sold the old DVD on ebay for $55 so for about net $50 I got new maps and better routing which makes my life easier every day, I think it was money well spent.
Is it the same really crappy navigation system but new maps? I'm hoping it would put in a new version of software but I don't have much hope. The navigation system for my 2005 accord is so bad that it is not really worth using.
03 Accord is a solid car! Kudos for still rocking it! I don't know if a place that offers download :( But check ebay for a recent 1-2 year old map DVD which you can get for much lower price vs. buying a new 2020 version. When I updated my map DVD I sold the older map DVD on ebay. I hope this helps
If you are looking to connect your phone to the car, there is no built in wired or Bluetooth system to help do this :( But the good news is there are plenty of inexpensive add-ons that would help you do this. I personally have used 'GoGroove Flexsmart X2' for a few years. It goes in the DC power source and provides wireless connectivity to your phone to stream audio, take phone calls, has very clear sound, and has built in USB and wired AUX ports. For $30 on amazon it is very nice device... and also highly rated by consumer reports. I hope this helps.
I don't have the old DVD anymore; sold it on ebay. You can probably buy one from ebay, or get latest maps DVD from Honda. The description of this video has step by step instruction on how to order new DVD from Honda.
Hi buddy.. this is wat I exactly wanted to know. Thanks for the details. How abt selecting the location and other screens, are they updated too or still the same? Cz, I'm not comfortable with the selecting/finding destinations, may be it's too old. Btw, I too have 2007 EXL. Also, I live in canada. If I buy the Dvd here, how many US states are covered, any idea?
I am glad this helped you! :) The new map had new way points, points of interest, locations, restaurants, etc through which the GPS was able to select routes faster and with more accuracy - and I liked that. The system prompts/screens in the GPS unit itself to use the GPS functionality stayed the same. Which is fine with me. Typically, if it is a North American map then it would cover all of Canada & U.S. However, I am in US so not sure what the Canadian Maps DVD would cover.
Makes sense that a Honda DVD would work. But I would recommend to reach out to Honda USA or Honda Europe (email or phone) and see what they recommend. They may have an alternate option.
Hi! I have a problem where it displays the yellow text at the end, but there is no "OK" button to continue to the navigation. What could be the problem? Honda Accord Tourer 2006, the disk: 2017-2018 v3.C0 Europe-East.
@@FlyBeee Because, I am from Hungary, in Europe. So, the navigation it's a East Europe map. What can I do? Should i wait if the "OK" button loads? Can I send a picture of it?
Does the stereo operation use the touchscreen at all? I'm looking at buying a 2006 Accord with Navigation, but I don't really want/need the navigation - I'm wondering if it would be an annoyance.
Yes, the Audio sound controls, Radio channel settings etc are all done on the touchscreen. But thats probably because touchscreen is available. I am sure that a car w/o touchscreen would have alternate ways to set these. Definitely get the 2006 Accord it is one of the best Accords made. The 2008+ model year accords have extremely uncomfortable driver seat , I driver one :(
In the settings menu there is an option to select / change language. Were you able to find it? Be sure the vehicle is stopped and parked when reviewing menu options. Many options display only when vehicle is parked.
can anyone tell me what the little center control button is for the nav system? i have an 03 but the little selector button thing that can control the cursor on the display is gone and i cant seem to find a replacement for it
The center control button controls the navigation map. Mine was misplaced when i made the video, but got the replacement from local Honda dealer parts shop. It was like $10 and it installed easy with just push of a thumb. Call your honda parts shop and tell them what you are looking for.
I have a 2011 honda accord. Navigation system works half the time. Now, it won't load maps at all. Error is "DVD disc reading error" What should I do? What is the fix?
Have you cleaned the lens of the maps dvd player? It is as simple as playing the special lens cleaner DVD. Not sure if it would fix for sure but for $10 it may be worth a try. I found one on amazon that has high reviews. amzn.to/39IFkrj
All right, I just got an Accord Tourer with NAV but from year 2003, I am from Spain. Are you sure I can update it the same way for Spain and Europe? Where I can purchase it? Thank youuuu
Congratulations on your new purchase! Navigation update process is the same, just be sure your Navigation unit (likely in the trunk) works well. You can buy a brand new Nav DVD from Honda directly or a couple years old one from ebay - as long as it is original DVD (not pirated). When I updated maps in my accord I sold the old maps DVD on ebay.
@@FlyBeee Thank you so much. But I do believe that this unit is NOT original, it comes with SD card; I guess much easier then to update it. DVD is not in the trunk, I have the Tourer version and definitely is not there.
@@franciscopeirat8395 It looks like you have an entirely different version of the Accord compared to what we have in the US. Have you discussed this with your local Honda dealer in Spain to see what they suggest on how to update navigation map?

My radio works. If you are looking for a navigation disc please check out ebay for older versions of map or order new / latest maps directly from Honda through your HondaOwners account or through the navigation link in the description of video. I hope this helps!
I do know this generation Accord has known problems with back light going out for the radio/climate readout on the regular unit w/o navigation. There was a recall with replacement during that time.
Ordering page didn't ask for the VIN, but thats probably because I ordered the Navigation DVD directly from my Honda account (owners.honda.com) which had the car already listed. All I had to do was click on the link: 'Order Navi update' and it showed the correct part # I needed. The DVD stays in the car. However you can sell your old one. I sold my 2007 original DVD (10 yr old) on ebay and someone paid $55 to buy it! Others had listed theirs for even more price!
If you are not ordering through the ownersDOThondaDOTcom account then VIN # is likely a way for honda to identify the exact vehicle year/mode/trim you have so they can send the correct map dvd.
Only the 2013 and up models need a VIN number to update a map disc. 2016 and up use a Garmin system with 5 free map updates (1 map update per year for 5 years).
If you are in US then Yes, this disk would work. I would recommend to visit honda owner website (ownersDOThondaDOTcom,) make an account , enter vin number for your car. The website will tell you exactly the DVD map disk which would work for your car. Honda often has sale / promotion direct to consumer so you can take benefit of it. When I purchased last year the map DVD was on sale for 33% off! - direct from Honda :)
From Honda's website: The link is: HondaNavi.Navigation.com and the description of video shows the steps to order it. It goes on sales in Q1 so should be on sale. Good luck!
Visit: owners.honda.com , make an account, login, enter VIN # to add your Honda vehicle. Once added you will see a link in blue color 'Order Maps'. Click on it, it will take you to the page where you order the map DVD. Good luck
