      Thanks! Glad to be back. I use both when I have access, but usually I just have a glute ham raise, so I'll use that to do a modified reverse hyper or just use it as a GHR.

      @@BackwoodsTruther toe drag is really just practice to keep your feet as close to the ground as possible so during your actual start you can get your steps down quicker. Just because you do it doesn’t necessarily mean that your block start is good.

      @@TheInterestingInformer they probably slits those 2 apart, you would not be able to lift weights for effective stimulus if you exhaust your muscle energy on sprinting, and vice versa.

    Should sprinters lift heavy for lower body like the isometric safety bar split squat? Like around 3-5RM for power, or should sprinter lift more moderate, around 6-10RM?

    what about nordic hamstring curls for hamstring strength and reduction of hamstring strains?

      I thought about that too. You're not gonna maximize speed if you get injured more often. I definately think glute-ham raises, especially with bands for example, are better than nordic curls, tho

      @@u.sgrant7526 Doing a mix of both is good for sure. Nordic curls have been proven to reduce injures. Haven’t heard too much about the glute/ham raises but anything with resistance bands will be beneficial no doubt.

    What’s the rep range for sprinters ?

      It depends on the exercise and goal, but I usually do 2-4 reps on power exercises, 2-6 on strength, and 6-12 on accessory work like abs, hip flexors, etc. just make sure if you’re going for power and strength that you do lower reps so the quality of the movement and bar speed stays high. I’d rather do 2x3 than 1x6 on power cleans for example.

    Sprinter 15 or 20 years ago were really built. These guys now have no muscle. What happened? Why did they stop lifting weights?

      They still lift weights. Back then they used drugs to become bigger and stronger

      A lot about science and speed has changed that’s why. They still lift but the programs and routines have changed. I honestly think it’s better now we have a lot of powerful new age sprinters it’s crazy

    Hey Cody, my pb in the 100m is 11.74 200m 24.12. How much rest should I take when I train speed endurance for 200m training in like 150 and 200m repetitions or even 300m. My goal this year is to run 11.50 and sub 24.

      Louis Carrillo I was wondering that too. Newish female lifter here. I watch mark Rippetoe on dropping weights and he says it is very bad and bends the bar.

      It’s literally what all athletes who lift weights do, you can’t do a high pull and carefully put the weight done. Rather slam the weight than injure yourself

    Hey please help, i would like to incorporate hill sprints in my weight training routine. Which option would you recommend? I can't and don't have time to do both in same day either before or after workout. So, for example, If one of my weight training days is Thursday(deadlift day also), do you recommend do Hill Sprints the day AFTER(Friday) or the day before(Wednesday)? love your channel great info.

      I'm not an expert, but if *I* were going to choose, I'd say do the sprints the day after so that your legs are better rested for the deadlift, so you can lift more.

    I’m 14yrs old and my 100m timing is 12.06 and I can squat 2.6 times of my body weight i have done a lot of drills but still I’m slow 😔

      Usually start with eccentric and isometric strength work and massage, then progress to sports movements slowly over time.

    I really would love to get into sprinting. I’ve put a lot of thought into what weightlifting exercises i should do, and i would love to hear what you think on it. Weighted shrimp squats, explosive pistol squats, barbell split squats, push press, dips, and last but not least hex deadlifts. Would you remove/add anything?

    The only reason Usain Bolt ever did squat anything is because some coach told him to. The only ‘resistance’ exercise useful to a sprinter is sprinting up a hill.
