I passed citizenship interview recently. I had 3 traffic tickets in 5 years. I didn’t declared in n-400 form (which i should have) however I brought it up in the interview. Officer asked how many, what was the fine for each and did i pay. My answer was 3, $100 or less and yes i paid. He said something like “don’t worry, they are minor violations, I don’t need to mention in the form” and he moved on the next questions.

You and were the lucky ones lol. It really depends on the officer. Some goes by the book what I noticed.

@@glow1815 He was a nice man. I told him that i wanted to change my answers in question #XYZ (not exactly sure on the question number now, i think its 23) even before he got to that question. Originally i answered No to question related to citations. I told him that i in fact had traffic violations. So perhaps he found me very honest :D
I would conclude by saying, if you have few minor traffic violations ( less than a couple hundred fine each) you should not be in trouble for this. if you fail the interview, there may be other reasons

Wow you're so right about the traffic ticket I've had ticket drove without driver license back in 1995 or 96. I paid my bail. After that I had few more but most for speeding over the years. I went to traffic classes only 2 times. And few tickets here and there like every 2 or 3 yrs. But 5 years before I applied for my Citizenship I had none. Whose were the reason I was scared to apply for citizenship for many years. Because I thought I might get deported. I just decided to just apply anyways, and like you said it depends on the officer as well. My officer she was layed back and nice. She even looked up my current employer address for me lol. I obtained all of my documents from the county were I was cited in case they ask me for it. They never did in fact most of my traffic cases were dismissed, dropped or no longer in the system. when I spoke to the county .

So one doesn’t have to list a parking ticket as a citation but this person happened to and got denied?

What if it has been more than 10 years since you got a ticket last. Do you mention it?
