midi only sends a signal to the computer, it doesnt send the e-drums sound, its used so that you can "trigger" the sound samples from a VSTi (virtual studio instrument) and play via the e-drums. To get just the sound of your edrums (like you'd hear in your headphones plugged into the edrums) you'd need an audio cable from the edrum audio out module to the computers audio input. I hope this helps :)
I don't get it sorry. 1.) This does mean The VSTi is bypassing the module of the edrums? 2.) If i am to listen the sound in my headphone, where should i connect the headohone, to my pc or to the module? 3.) Where will I connect the speaker?
So I gather I could use Kontact to MIDI map the drum sounds to multitrack like a separate track for Bass Drum ,Snare, Hi hat, E.T.C as I have that same MIDI USB link for my Arbiter 102 XD Electronic Drum Kit, Yes?
Wow just happened to find this video while looking how to do this and you have the same set up!!!!! Thank you soooo much....I had to plug my midi cable out to the out on my drums to make it work though lol Problem is how to get more volume in my kick etc...Do I need to change the sensitivity in the pads?
Hey, the midi-usb only records the midi signal, to hear sound from it you also need some drum software to be "triggered" by it. As for software, any software that records midi should work well, Reaper and Ableton Life are good ones, some people like Cubase and even Garage band on a mac would work
Hello! I'm using the same cable, but I have a problem using my drum kit. When I hit my snare, it sounds like a rim shot, and it doesn't matter what drum set I use for Ezdrummer or Superior Drummer, It always sound the same... Can you help me? I'm using a Medeli dd505D drum kit
I just checked, apparently you cant change the midi notes in EZdrummer you can only do it with Superior Drummer from that software, but most other drum software you can change the midi trigger
I have the same drum and same interface it works perfectly fine on bandlab. Just that Roland module they say out and I try OUT with OUT it failed to work. So I try OUT and IN it works 😊
if you want to trigger VST instruments with midi you will need to have purchased or downloaded those VST instruments separately yes. But some programs come with included VST instruments like GarageBand on a Mac for example is free and you can trigger its midi with these drums.
The sound in the video is from my music programs output, its the sound from the VSTi being triggered by the drums, not from the drums themself. I'm not sure what part number the cable is, its just a standard midi-usb
The simplest solution to latency is to download a free piece of software called ASIO4ALL (google it) and that makes any computer very low latency while playing
Nice Video....Got a question...I don't have the NI Studio drummer software..i only have Audacity for now and a midi cable....Can i still record cover from my TD4 kp ..?
If i was to get a MIDI to USB cable and I recorded straight out into Audacity, no VST or anything, just straight drum module into Audacity, would each individual piece record onto an individual track? Like the bass has its own track, the snare has its own track...etc. If you're unsure, could you possibly give this a quick try?
Hey, I dont believe that Audacity has midi tracks, so if you were to try and record with one in Audacity nothing would happen. If you used a different piece of software like garage band or ableton live then the midi notes would be recorded but there would be no sound to them. The sound comes from the VST instrument. You could however edit the midi notes individually, but only if you use software that supports midi
+kerodean Thanks for the video. I play through headphones, will I still be able to hear the new drum sounds if I connect my headphones to the drum module, or do I have to get my audio from my PC now?
+Albert You'll need to keep headphones plugged into the computer to hear the new drum sounds. Plugging them into the module would just be the same old module sounds
+kerodean Yeah if you want to record the audio from the drums instead of the midi you'll need an audio cable. The TD4KP has a stereo 6.3mm or 1/4inch jack and if you don't have anyway to plug that into a computer it should be a cable with a 3.4mm jack on the other end.
+kerodean Hi, could you help me? I have a problem installing the Rolland drivers in my laptop. I've bought the same cable you're using but it seems I have to install the drum drivers so the sound can pass to my laptop.
You only need the cable, the drum sounds are triggered by the midi notes (send from the drums as midi information) to the computer and the VST turns those midi notes into drum sounds.
***** Yes I believe that is possible, the drum pads are basically keys of a keyboard that have different note values. I'm not sure they will retain the velocity or not though.
I realize this is probably very simple, but I'm new to electric drumming. I plan on purchasing a starter kit, either the TD-1KV or the Yamaha 400K. They both have MIDI out. Will I be able to do this using my Macbook Pro? I want to be able to get higher quality sounds than the preset kits. Is that was software like EZ Drummer is for? I'm just really new to this and don't want to buy the wrong setup. Thanks for the help.
That should work no problem, I posted a few comparison videos of the different drum VSTs you can check those out to see which one you like the sound of the best. I think mac supports midi in the same way so it should be no problem.
Hi. Will it work this way with pro tools first? Do you know if pro tools first comes with drum applications to be able to do this? Thank you and great video
I'm not sure if Pro tools comes with any drum vsts but it should work with any midi receiving application. The drums send midi signals into the computer and trigger the sounds from the software you load. So it should work
i have connected my midi-usb with my yamaha dd65 and my computer detects that the device been connected. but how to record to my pc as i play my drum.suggest me any user friendly software bro..!!pls .. thanks in advance :)
I dont hear any latency issues. R u direct monitoring in Ableton somehow...or on a super fast PC? Several ms of delay could be expected I would think. Nice setup...hope to get the same thing going within a few months!
I don't even know if you reply to comments(because of how old this video is) but I'm fairly new to electronic drums. I have a Simmons SD1000 kit. Can I use just any program to alter the sounds or does it have to be a certain one? I like the sounds of the program you're using and would be pretty happy if I could use those with my kit.(wouldn't mind paying for it, also).
+Jesus Crust I dont believe you can edit the sounds in the drum kits module unless you have special software. In this video I show how you can connect the drums to the computer as a 'midi instrument' so it sends midi notes into the computer and in a DAW (digital audio workstation) like ableton it can then use the MIDI to trigger a VST (virtual studio instrument) to make sounds from the computer. To do this, you need a midi>usb cable like in the video, a DAW, and a VST
Hi, i have alesis dm7X. i have to connect my module with Usb Cable into laptop with EzDrummer Demo. Driver drum are installed on pc but doesn't send any signal but in Setting>Input device , there are a "Alesis Dm7x". I have to try to install Asio4All but does not change anything. The assignment number in EzDrummer are same in midi setting of module. (Ex. snare are #42 , in module snare are #42). Module are setting off in "LOC" (local mode) and on in "GM" mode. Any advice?
my computer's sound card does not support midi so I use a midi interface. will my daw recognize my e drums if I connect them via usb to computer? thanks
i can open up studio drummer fine and get sound from MIDI and my set, but the sound wont go to my headphones or amp at all? only playing throw the computer speaker.
great tutorial thanbks for this .. but i have another problem now, when i play snare for example, it's the same with tom... i set everything up but snare and tom .. they sound both either tom or snare ... what can i do ? :(((
+vato gomareli might be the cables crossing, I had that problem sometimes if I hit hard on the drums. The only thing I found was to raise some of the pads a little higher or further apart than usual
Hi friend... Have you tried using roland td 4kp with any ios drum modeling software like garageband, alesis dm10, sample tank??? Any help would be much appreciated... Thanx in advance
Does the changed sound come out of the Roland sound module? Like could I use a laptop to change the sounds and they'll go to the output of the Roland to my mixer?
eii man why my roland td4s is not connecting we have same kit and same midi cable why its not working i already bought another just to try if the cable is the problem or the kit because i visit the roland support theres no driver for roland td4 when i saw youre video i saw that it works for td4 that why i bought another midi cable
If you're not looking to record but just want to get the sounds from a drum VST mapped to your kit, can you just run the VST from your Mac/PC and use something like a usb-midi interface to connect directly to your kit, or will you still need to run a host program like Logic Pro, Garage Band, etc?
Hello. I Buy an Roland Pad-80 Octapad. I connect it with my Studio drummer and try to play Differents Sounds on each kist, but it Play online the same sound on all options. What is my mistake? Can u help me?
Hey Pumz, that certainly sounds like it could work, but just make sure that the netbook can handle the software and you might want to install ASIO4ALL to reduce audio latency or even buy an external sound card to make sure there is minimal audio latency, so that you can play more naturally. Hope that helps :)
Lipstick Drumstick Do you have a cable to connect them to your computer? The midi thats built into your drum module needs to be sent into the computer to be able to trigger the computers software.
I do. I got it all working yesterday but have a major latency issue. And a sound issue. Through my amp its cool, but in my headphones its awful and I never play without them.
+kerodean Thanks! One quick follow up question. How is the latency with just using the midi to USB cable without an audio interface? Is there any noticeable delay?
+Kyle Swaters if you have ASIO4ALL installed or a dedicated external sound card then the latency is very low and its monitored from the computers audio output. Because its such a low latency its very playable and doesnt effect the feel.
Hitting the pads do not trigger midi. So I went and bought a regular midi cord. One end in the brain and one end in the back of mbox with pro tools express. That works with ezdrummer. I cannot get the midi to usb cord to work. All the videos say just plug it in and it will work, but it don't.
Yes, same shit. Already loosing my mind. I have a synthesizer working perfect on MIDI-USB-Laptop but when I use same cable to connect my drums instead - I just have nothing coming to my laptop. Looking for help and suggestions.
You need to make sure the software you're triggering can see the midi-usb device, it should automatically install generic drivers and be seen by the software, if not then you might need to find somewhere to download them.
KeroDean I can even trigger software using my synthesizer and midi-usb device/cable. Every key on keyboard triggers actual sound in program. But when I'm trying to do it with my drums - nothing happens. And yes, my software recognises cable and installing generic driver when I plug USB in.
Hey I have a problem, i have same usb/midi cable as you, but when I connect it to a PC it recognizes all my pads, but doesn't let me play more than one pad at the time or do do a roll. Ps i have asio4all installed
I have a set of ddrum dd1 drums and only a usb port to pc cable it doesnt work so I am guessing maybe I need the midi usb cable. Do you think I am correct?
Looks like you can plug it into the computer without the need for a midi cable. Have you installed the drivers for it? Check the ddrum website, there might be something you need to download for it to work. Also depending on the DAW you use check that its listening to the correct midi channel/input
dude i need some serious help. I have studio one with what looks like a demo version of the kontakt player. what exactly is this kontakt player supposed to do and how do i set it up with my TD-9? The only thing that's being recognized by studio one is my foot controller for my hi hat
HI there, Thanks a lot for your video. I would like to know which drum are you using in the video, is it a Roland TD-1 kit? If so, how did you do to have this midi plug in interface? Thanks a lot
Hi, can you basically replace the module by connecting the kit to the pc by midi? Also, i see that some kits dont have the midi in and out, the description says that they have usb-midi interface, what's the difference? Thanks
+Heisenberg You still need the module so the midi information can be sent to the computer. In this setup, the audio you listen to is coming directly from the computer instead of the module though. Some cheaper kits dont have a midi out but instead a usb out, and in that case you can just connect it via usb.
+kerodean Thank you for answering, what i want to do is outline the limitations of the module, and have a module of a 2k+ kit in my pc, i think that if i connect by usb instead of Midi in and out i will not be getting audio, but anyways both the kits in my whatch list have midi in and out.
I am getting false triggering on NI drumlab. really only happens on my hi hats they trigger snare and tom sounds randomly! on the feedback that your supposed to get from the daw the false triggering doesn't even show a key played on the keyboard. Super frustrating! can you do a tutorial for drum lab? my set up is a td11 roland. I'm willing to make a video to show you what I'm talking about
Andres Gomez I occasionally got false hits too, what I found was it mostly to be a hardware issue. Spacing the pads further apart and loosening or hightening the pads helps too.
Hey, do you think is possible to connect to a max msp to get the midi input ? i'm still working 3 hours whit a patch, and nothing happened... can someone know ?
So how exactly does this work do I plug in my headphones to the computer or the module and also how do I play along to my favorite songs using that software
+Imad Coulibaly Yes, you listen to the computers output. You can play along to songs that you play on the computer although if your ASIO soundcard cant handle 2 at once, you'll need to import the music into the DAW (digital audio workstation software)
kerodean i've tried to put the Kontakt folder with the .dll files into every vst folder in my cubase installation folder, and it still does not show up :(
Hi, Im using a Roland TD-3 with a MIDI-USB cable like yours, Im having a Hard time with that setup because when I hit two pads at the same time in SD2 I get a delayed false note (Specifically a vel64 ch1 delayed note) Do you have the same issue? I hope that the bug comes from the Midi.Usb and not from the module itself. Thanks for your video.
I sometimes had that problem, I found raising the cymbal height helped or tightening or loosening the cymbal nuts I think the vibration can trigger the other pads sometimes if they're too tight.
KeroDean no, I just plug the snare drum and the floor tom an stil have that ghost note... for what you are saying I feel that the problem is in my module :-(
KeroDean I almos found what it is, I have an issue with my midi-usb cable, still not shure if is the cable or the module itself, but i keep getting wron midi data, When I hear the module itself there is no ghost note, but when I hear Superior drummer at the same time I get ghost notes. A friend did built a VST midi filter that partially corrects the incoming midi data. Thank you
i have a simmons sd1000 how do i make it sound like this quality will it only sound like that with headphones or will it sound like that if its plugged into an amp or speakers. sorry im new with this
Aaron Zuber you need a digital audio workstation like ableton to run a VST. for studio drummer you need kontakt player. I believe it works on the free player
Hello, my friend, by chance you will not have the roland td8 library? I've been looking for it for years and I can not find it anywhere. I have been told that it passes via midi to the laptop but I really do not know. By chance you do not have I have others ... if you are interested in exchanging greetings :)
kerodean Hi thanks for replying, I have been informed that the sounds are obtained by connecting the td8 to the pc. But I re-do not know how it is done. I am not very understood in that why I look for help could you help me ?? Greetings and thanks from chile :)
hi i just bought a midi to usb cable today. when i plug usb into my pc only a red light illuminates. after i plug midi out and midi in into my drums module nothing happens. i can see that my pc recognizes it as a midi cable but i cant take records it would be great if someone helps me.
I need help too, i connected the same type of cable that you have (midi to usb) and in my program nothing happens, if i choose the MIDI input i can see my edrum but even after that there is no sound coming out of the edrum on my laptop... i'm really lost here, do i need an external soundcard or what? my laptop is a basic laptop not a high level gamer laptop.
hey, i was thinking about buying that exact cable and i was wondering if it was any good? or if its flimsy.. did it last long? any issues with latency and so on? thanks!
Hey! May be you can help me. I have Studio One 2 as a recording device, then I have Addictive Drums as plug in. I connect my edrums through midiusb and I connect headphones just to audio port in computer. But how can I listen to the backtrack at the same time if I want to record the song? I m puzzled =)
hi can you connect the mps 600 via midi in/out or USB midi to the computrer and trigger addictive drums? does using USB midi interface fight with your normal external audio interface like an M-audio firewire1814?
I used Native Instruments Kontakt for the drum software but its not free, however there's a free drum software that's very good called SSD free stevenslatedrums.com/ssd5/#SSD5FREE
Ok, I've he cable but I dont know what to download now, is there any free software/program that's simple and where I can record covers with my Usb mic and my dtx500. That means that I want something where I can record my drumkit, my mic and where I can open mp3s.
do you have latency issues? i tried connecting mine to my laptop (USB to USB) and used Addictive Drums Standalone as my software and it has latency (1/2 second). How do i solve this? Thanks.

Please subscribe :)
you making this video literally made me want to buy an e-drum kit. God bless you. Thank you for your instruction
+Busy Works Beats .TV You're welcome, enjoy your new kit!
i have the same programe as you but i have a problem when i play i have latency could you tell me please how to fix it?
You haven't explained how you actually get it to work!?
If only it were that easy!
Getting a full acoustic drum kit sound out of those low end edrums, that's the way to do it. Good demo tutorial.
Thanks man! That output port + input solved it for me
midi only sends a signal to the computer, it doesnt send the e-drums sound, its used so that you can "trigger" the sound samples from a VSTi (virtual studio instrument) and play via the e-drums.
Did you follow the steps in the view? If that failed I'd suggest checking out the kontakt website for help setting that up
Great video, simple and straight to the point. Keep rocking!
That plugin sounds great
The program is Ableton live and the VST is Native instruments "Studio drummer"
Cool can I get it for free?
@@Lorteskovl Both are paid software
So I gather I could use Kontact to MIDI map the drum sounds to multitrack like a separate track for Bass Drum ,Snare, Hi hat, E.T.C as I have that same MIDI USB link for my Arbiter 102 XD Electronic Drum Kit, Yes?

I'm using a Medeli dd505D drum kit
It sounds like you need to make the snare trigger a snare instead of a rim
Fisically? or changing the midi map?
Changingthe midi map
And how can I change it? Because I use Reaper and EZdrummer... I've tried so many things, and any worked
I just checked, apparently you cant change the midi notes in EZdrummer you can only do it with Superior Drummer from that software, but most other drum software you can change the midi trigger
I believe it is yes, there are a few other similar ones, just google "open source DAW"
I have the same drum and same interface it works perfectly fine on bandlab. Just that Roland module they say out and I try OUT with OUT it failed to work. So I try OUT and IN it works 😊
Thanks for sharing! Yes I think for me both worked, or I just tried each port until it worked haha
Do you have to buy any of the software of just the drums and a computer?
if you want to trigger VST instruments with midi you will need to have purchased or downloaded those VST instruments separately yes.
There is only a MIDI OUT on the TD-4KP but you can connect the MIDI IN on the cable to that MIDI OUT and the usb to the computer
You mean midi in to out? As I got the same drum and device to band lab is not working.
Apparently you did not get any annoying latency, is that right? how low was the latency, if you remember?
The simplest solution to latency is to download a free piece of software called ASIO4ALL (google it) and that makes any computer very low latency while playing
Nice Video....Got a question...I don't have the NI Studio drummer software..i only have Audacity for now and a midi cable....Can i still record cover from my TD4 kp ..?
+LOOW VERIN You can record the TD4KPs audio out into Audacity if you want to record the audio of the drums module.
No, I thought you meant the audio. An open source software called Ardour does record midi and audio
I ser that your tom2 is mapped to a ride cymbal. I am having the same issue and i dont how to re-map it to its proper drum
I find if you adjust the cymbal pads so they're higher, it usually lessens the crosstalk :)

+kerodean Thanks for the video. I play through headphones, will I still be able to hear the new drum sounds if I connect my headphones to the drum module, or do I have to get my audio from my PC now?

I have that cable
it is broken
That was an emotional roller coaster.
is it a haiku?
LOL
Yeah. I got that very same one fresh out the box but it doesnt work either
What are we listening to the sound through? The computer speakers or speakers in the room? And what part number is that cable?
Could I use an old MacBook from 2007 to get ezdrummer 2 to my Roland with good latency

I dont hear any latency issues. R u direct monitoring in Ableton somehow...or on a super fast PC? Several ms of delay could be expected I would think.
Nice setup...hope to get the same thing going within a few months!
not super fast, you only need a fast audio card, ASIO4ALL is a free way to get it
Is your soundcard on board? Do you notice increased latency because of that? Would you recommend getting an external usb interface?
Any setting from the TD-4PK MODULE? or just plug N play? Thank you
Its plug and play mostly, but depending on the drum software theres usually presets for Roland TD kits, I usually find the TD11 preset works best

Is There Any Cheaper Software I Can Get? Studio Drummer Is Way Too Expensive For Me =(
Thanks for this video! It helped me out.
Does the changed sound come out of the Roland sound module? Like could I use a laptop to change the sounds and they'll go to the output of the Roland to my mixer?

i already bought another just to try if the cable is the problem or the kit because i visit the roland support theres no driver for roland td4 when i saw youre
video i saw that it works for td4 that why i bought another midi cable
What computer and music software are you using?
hi I am having SPD 20. I need to connect to competer. what is the soft ware require plz suggest me
If you're not looking to record but just want to get the sounds from a drum VST mapped to your kit, can you just run the VST from your Mac/PC and use something like a usb-midi interface to connect directly to your kit, or will you still need to run a host program like Logic Pro, Garage Band, etc?
Yeah...u would run the VST in "standalone mode" and not as a plugin. Make sure the VST has that capability...but most do these days.
So let me get this straight, the audio will come out from the phones( or audio interface ) to the mixer ????
audio comes from the computers audio out if you're using asio4all
Have you had any problems with drop outs , latency , etc.... Cause I'd really like to use that live
MAN!! you are my hero!!! thanks a lot!

***** Essentially yes, you are recording the midi notes from the drums that then trigger the sounds in the software.
Hey Pumz, that certainly sounds like it could work, but just make sure that the netbook can handle the software and you might want to install ASIO4ALL to reduce audio latency or even buy an external sound card to make sure there is minimal audio latency, so that you can play more naturally. Hope that helps :)
If I have the midi already in my module all I would need is the usb cable correct?
If your module has a USB output, it needs a way to send the midi to the computer
how do i know if it is in or out? it has a USB connector, and claims to have a midi built in it.
Lipstick Drumstick did you download asio4all? It should help with latency, you'll have to make sure your DAW is set to use asio
Can I use my phone to play along to music instead of an iPod? And what kinda cable to I need for that
+Samuel Kajah Your audio will be coming from the computer. So you could load the music you want to play along to into the DAW.
Would this work with any combination of DAW and VST (for example: Reaper and Superior Drummer)?
+MSH.Drums Sure, it will work as long as the midi is set up correctly
+kerodean Thanks! One quick follow up question. How is the latency with just using the midi to USB cable without an audio interface? Is there any noticeable delay?
MSH.Drums If you use Asio4all its such a small delay its not noticable.
After you have all of this hooked up, how do monitor the drum sounds in real time during recording?
+Kyle Swaters if you have ASIO4ALL installed or a dedicated external sound card then the latency is very low and its monitored from the computers audio output. Because its such a low latency its very playable and doesnt effect the feel.
Hitting the pads do not trigger midi. So I went and bought a regular midi cord. One end in the brain and one end in the back of mbox with pro tools express. That works with ezdrummer. I cannot get the midi to usb cord to work. All the videos say just plug it in and it will work, but it don't.
Maybe your computer didn't install the driver, mine had to install some generic driver to work if I recall
Generic MIDI-USB cables can be fickle...Amazon is filled with mixed reviews on several of them IIRC.
And yes, my software recognises cable and installing generic driver when I plug USB in.
what is the best software name?
Thanks I think I got it figured out. I needed to dl some software for it.
dude i need some serious help. I have studio one with what looks like a demo version of the kontakt player. what exactly is this kontakt player supposed to do and how do i set it up with my TD-9? The only thing that's being recognized by studio one is my foot controller for my hi hat
HI there,
Thanks a lot for your video.
I would like to know which drum are you using in the video, is it a Roland TD-1 kit?
If so, how did you do to have this midi plug in interface?
Thanks a lot
The midi plug is available from any music store or eBay
+kerodean I would like to know which drum are you using in the video, is it a Roland TD-1 kit?
+kpichat Roland TD4KP.
What's the cable you're using from the drums to the computer
Just a cheap one like this amzn.to/39uXFVo
So how exactly does this work do I plug in my headphones to the computer or the module and also how do I play along to my favorite songs using that software
+Imad Coulibaly Yes, you listen to the computers output. You can play along to songs that you play on the computer although if your ASIO soundcard cant handle 2 at once, you'll need to import the music into the DAW (digital audio workstation software)
Hey man, i finally got my edrums, but a doubt came out, why do i need a DAW? Also, are you using the free version of Kontakt 5 Player?
Good point, you dont need a saw, just some way to process the midi via software. Standalone Kontakt player would work fine.
Yep, i think that maybe the daw has more use if you need some aditional input or to record yourself playing along with a music?
Cheers,
Should i have roland td4 driver if i want to connect it via midi to usb cable?
+Ardito Goller I dont know what that is, but all you need is the cable
Its work dude! Thanks for your help :D
I've added Kontakt to Cubase, but I can't seem to find it in the vst instruments section of cubase :( can you help?
+Andreas Darmer is it a VST 3? Because sometimes they go in a different folder or aren't supported on some daws
kerodean i've tried to put the Kontakt folder with the .dll files into every vst folder in my cubase installation folder, and it still does not show up :(
Hi, Im using a Roland TD-3 with a MIDI-USB cable like yours, Im having a Hard time with that setup because when I hit two pads at the same time in SD2 I get a delayed false note (Specifically a vel64 ch1 delayed note) Do you have the same issue? I hope that the bug comes from the Midi.Usb and not from the module itself. Thanks for your video.
I sometimes had that problem, I found raising the cymbal height helped or tightening or loosening the cymbal nuts I think the vibration can trigger the other pads sometimes if they're too tight.
KeroDean no, I just plug the snare drum and the floor tom an stil have that ghost note... for what you are saying I feel that the problem is in my module :-(
***** I've had ghost notes on my old yamaha drum kit too, I read somewhere that is maybe because I hit the pads too hard but I'm not sure
Thank you
***** Man i have the same problem where i can find this filter?
Hey bro i really like this! i wanna know the name of you drum usb!
The drums are Roland TD-4KPs the midi-usb cable is generic
Nah, I used a Focusrite 2i2 but you could use a built in card if you download ASIO4ALL that makes audio latency low enough to rock on :)
i have a simmons sd1000 how do i make it sound like this quality will it only sound like that with headphones or will it sound like that if its plugged into an amp or speakers. sorry im new with this
+Travis Ellis using this method, the audio will come from the computers output, so you could plus the pc > amp if you wanted.
+kerodean any idea on how much id soend making my electric kit sound like that
are the drums sounds coming from the drums on tye program or the actual drum kit
+MyAssStings from the computer
wait so you cant use any of the drum presets from the actual drums?
MyAssStings no, in this setup you're using the physicals drums as a way to trigger the sounds on the computer only
Did you you only use the free kontakt player and Studio Drummer from native instruments?
+Aaron Zuber Its not the free player, but the free player I think should work the same. It is studio drummer but its not free.
Did you use the player with it though or do you only need the studio drummer?
Do you need the full version of kontakt?
Or something like ableton
Aaron Zuber you need a digital audio workstation like ableton to run a VST. for studio drummer you need kontakt player. I believe it works on the free player
Hello, my friend, by chance you will not have the roland td8 library? I've been looking for it for years and I can not find it anywhere. I have been told that it passes via midi to the laptop but I really do not know. By chance you do not have I have others ... if you are interested in exchanging greetings :)
+bastian carrizo zepeda no I'm sorry I don't have it. The only thing that passes through midi is the midi signals.
kerodean Hi thanks for replying, I have been informed that the sounds are obtained by connecting the td8 to the pc. But I re-do not know how it is done. I am not very understood in that why I look for help could you help me ?? Greetings and thanks from chile :)
hi i just bought a midi to usb cable today. when i plug usb into my pc only a red light illuminates. after i plug midi out and midi in into my drums module nothing happens. i can see that my pc recognizes it as a midi cable but i cant take records it would be great if someone helps me.
hey great video! I just want to know how you filmed this while playing the drums??? thanks!
Used camera to film the drums and screen capture to capture the screen then put the audio together from the daw.
WHAT are the softwares you are using and would this work with a yamaha dtx 520k kit (which has that midi out entrance)
+la2ypig Abletone Live + Kontakt (the vst he's using.) and a kontakt library. This should work on any e-drum kit.
hey, i was thinking about buying that exact cable and i was wondering if it was any good? or if its flimsy.. did it last long? any issues with latency and so on? thanks!
Lee Morris Its pretty sturdy actually, felt very solid, didn't notice much if any latency at all
Thanks man!
Hey! May be you can help me. I have Studio One 2 as a recording device, then I have Addictive Drums as plug in. I connect my edrums through midiusb and I connect headphones just to audio port in computer. But how can I listen to the backtrack at the same time if I want to record the song? I m puzzled =)
Import the backing track into the DAW that way you should be able to hear the backing track and the drum VSTs
hi can you connect the mps 600 via midi in/out or USB midi to the computrer and trigger addictive drums? does using USB midi interface fight with your normal external audio interface like an M-audio firewire1814?
Yes I believe it works in conjunction with a usb audio interface
what software are you using? is it compatible for windows? is it free or need to purchase it?
I used Native Instruments Kontakt for the drum software but its not free, however there's a free drum software that's very good called SSD free stevenslatedrums.com/ssd5/#SSD5FREE
what is this drum program you're using? thanks for the tutorial
Ok, I've he cable but I dont know what to download now, is there any free software/program that's simple and where I can record covers with my Usb mic and my dtx500. That means that I want something where I can record my drumkit, my mic and where I can open mp3s.
Hey, I'm just now starting to use MIDI and i was wondering where I could get that drum library you have. Thanks! :)
do you have latency issues? i tried connecting mine to my laptop (USB to USB) and used Addictive Drums Standalone as my software and it has latency (1/2 second). How do i solve this? Thanks.
Download ASIO4ALL its a free download that will reduce latency on any computer
Can i record it using using this usb midi interface + ezdrummer + DAW? without using a audio interface?
as long as you have ASIO4ALL installed, that will reduce the latency to a managable level
Thank you sir, i will do that.
i followed the steps and my kit sounds good only problem i can't get my cymbals choke any help someone ?
can I connect my dtx500 to macbook with this midi-usb cable ?
+space cowboy yes should work fine
Thanks I thought so but since it's all new to me I wasn't sure , so I'll just go from my audio interface to the mixer
