You forgot to mention how they absolutely butchered the special bond Jon Snow shared with Ghost, his direwolf, when he just let him go. No heartfelt talk, no hug, he didn't even pet him...
@Волфсангел What makes it worse is the fact that the previous season he spoke to Theon, telling him that he is 'both Greyjoy, and Stark'. and yet they wrote Jon off as if the knowledge of Targaryen blood overtakes everything about him that is Stark. He is Stark, he was born a Stark and raised a Stark. But nope, just Targaryen now.

@Волфсангел Robert Baratheon did nothing wrong. He was even right about the HOAR. Lyanna, Rhaegar and Aerys were the ones responsible for the war, unless Lyanna really was kidnapped. B-but Rhaegar was the Silver Prince so he must have been the Perfect Paragon, as opposed to being someone who was obsessed with Prophecy to the point where he 'forgot' he already had a wife and children.
@Волфсангел oh no, agreed. Nobody was honestly 'good' during the Rebellion, and the repercussions of being the way they were tarnished their own names. Eddard with his named soiled for 'sleeping with another person to get Jon', Rhaegar for being a 'thief', Robert for his hate for anything dragon, etc.

Thank *god* someone mentioned the issue with how the show treated the Direwolves. I've never forgiven the writers for what they did to Grey Wind (Robb's direwolf). In the books, at the Red Wedding, Grey Wind broke out of his 'pen', slaughtered six Frey soldiers to try and get to Robb before eventually being peddled with arrows and dying. He also 'sensed' the Red Wedding and tried to warn Robb (which Caitlyn points out from her POV saying that GW was acting very anxious). THEY ARE GOOD DOGGOS.

I didn't know much about Game of Thrones before seeing this video, and because of that I didn't have much investment in the story. However, I recently decided to start reading the books, and all I can say is what. The. Fuck. The very first chapter, literally the first taste we get of the story after the prolouge, is about Jon Snow getting his dog. That's how the story starts. That pupper was so important to George that he opened the story with it. It gets worse though. I assumed that the dire wolf was just a loyal companion to Jon and nothing more, but it's so much more than that. In the book (I haven't seen the show so I don't know what's been changed) there was a whole litter of dire wolf pups, and at first there appeared to be five. Jon convinced his father, lord Stark, to keep the pups because there were three males and two females, the same number of children Stark had born in wedlock. Jon internationally left himself out, saying he was not a true Stark. Demeaning himself so that the doggos had a chance at life. But then, a sixth pup was found, one that was albino, and unlike the others had already opened its eyes. This was more than just another pup. This was JON'S pup. The albino skin set it apart from the others, and also meant that it had worse chances of surviving on its own. The members of Stark's household looked down on it, but Jon took the dog into his arms, saying "This one belongs to me". Think about that for a second. Just seconds ago, Jon humbled himself so that his siblings of higher birth could have wolves of there own. Then, a special wolf pup appeared, distinct from the others, it's white skin almost mirroring Jon's shameful surname of snow. The book makes it explicitly clear that these two are meant to be together. They have a bond that goes beyond friendship. It was fate that brought them together. Just think about what it must have meant for Jon in that moment. The mere existence of this pup validates him as a child of Ned Stark. It serves as a sign that he is special, and that he survives against all odds. Not to mention that the dire wolf is the symbol of house Stark. This wolf is not just a companion. This wolf IS Jon Snow. In short, I'm literally only one chapter into the first book, and I can already see ways that the showrunners screwed up the characters beyond repair. Jon would never abandon his wolf, Jon would never leave without saying goodbye, and the writers have shown that they didn't even try to understand the source material. What. The. Fuck.
I never read the books, hell I only got into game of thrones thanks to maulers videos. Fuck that is an incredible connection that jon had to ghost, and its absolutely wasted. Thank you for the insight. Truly

One of the things that made Game of Thrones unique was the intense concern of the actors for the writing of their characters. Dinklage complaining about the crypt comes to mind as well.

Don't forget the reason why Jon has ghost in the first place is because he was the albino mute runt of the litter. He was the outcast that shouldn't exist. That connection to ghost is much more significant than direwolves being the sigil of the Starks.
He growled audibly in E3. So they even fucked up that one...
Also Jon occasionally wargs into him in the novels, unintentionally of course, as he hasn't been trained
I don't think Ghost was ever meant to be mute in the show. He also howled after Jon 'died' and growled plenty of other times in earlier seasons.

Ghost's howling is what brought John out of his quarters to check on Lord Commander Mormont many seasons ago.

Thank *god* someone mentioned the issue with how the show treated the Direwolves. I've never forgiven the writers for what they did to Grey Wind (Robb's direwolf). Another whole year, to film 6 episodes. This is what they came up with
Dang. I can't get over that detail.
Truly

When I did, I took a very long walk around London in a daze, not quite knowing how to digest the news. Now, finally, people are going, “Oh, now we understand why this season hit you hard.”
One of the things that made Game of Thrones unique was the intense concern of the actors for the writing of their characters. Dinklage complaining about the crypt comes to mind as well.
Dinklage on Tyrions crypt idea was also telling. His inability to "act" like he was telling the truth that Weiss and Benioff are the "greatest writers" was delicious

Me: bawls 😭💔
Just as the fans did... They, the most brilliant and most talented group of actors and actresses I’ve ever seen in my fucking life.... who gave a decade of their lives to these characters, dedicated themselves to the fans who had fallen so in love and/or in hate with them, and for some, sacrificed their entire childhood to become the heart and soul of the masterpiece of show we loved and cared about so much- they deserved SO MUCH MORE.
I find myself saddened for them, and the crew, creative teams, etc the most. We are them and they are we, utterly devastated with the outcome and desperate for some sort of closure. We are the ones who have been cheated, who have lost... to such an extent that it almost seems deliberate... and purposeful. The flamboyantly horrid writing of this last season is a knife in the heart for so many of us. While D&D now have everything they want. It literally makes me ill when I think on it. This is such a travesty.
RIP Game of Thrones. You died in vain.
RIP got season 1-4
Poor actors
The way this video is edited is basically the earlier seasons getting pissed off at the last seasons
"What are we, HUMAN?"
Damn that hurts
Remember Jon saying to Theon "You are a Stark and a Greyjoy" ?
Him totally ditching his Stark side by discarding Ghost is a total bull. Nice writing btw
Brace yourselves
The worst ending in a tv/cable/streaming online service series is coming
"Lost" is sitting in the background saying "yes, yes, do it, do it! make me better!"
@@trumpwonhereistheevidenced4390 lost ending wasnt really bad just.....meh. I don t remember really feeling dissapointed more like relief it was over.
@@diegokaqui60 that whole last season was pretty disappointing in my opinion
@@MollyFC yeah it was but dissapointing isn t bad. Bad is making my eyes bleed and mauler making unbridle rage videos.
Absolutely! Definitely going to be beyond a SSSSHHHHIIIITTT
SHOW.....guaranteed shit show
This is horrible, I can't believe they've done this to the ending of this series.... insane🤦♀️
its just so satisfying hearing someone articulate not only the thoughts i had, but thoughts i didnt realize i had. also with pure british bant.
23:00 "How did you reload so fast"
To be fair, that very shot shows that at least three ships have a weapon like that so the proper question is "are they all such increduble shooters? And why do they all aim at the same dragon?"
Jon Snow's dialogue this season is like a bug in a Mass Effect game that gets stuck on only one dialogue tree for the rest of the game:
UR MA KWEEN!
AH DUN WAHN ETT!
AH WUV EW!
Don’t forgot “SHE’S YOUR KWEEN”
*Screams at Dragon*
Poor Jon should have just given Dany the D and take one for the team, so many lives may have been spared from Mad Queen Dany in the long run.
Did the *Lord of Light* bring him back to Yell at a Dragon - while Arya sneaks around it? I’d hate if that’s the case or if he was brought back to take Winterfell 🤷🏽♂️ idk
*[Screams stop internally]*
But mauler, were your expectations SUBVERTED?
I swear this word is becoming more and more of a trigger word for me.
@@on_spikes6867 My girlfriend couldn't be more annoyed when I say it lol
Yes
What did it cost?
Everything
Coming back to watch this gem. 💎
I feel Mauler’s empathy for Ghost. I have a five year old husky named Dexter, and he’s like my child. I would die for him. I would never just give him away… ever.
I had a half husky, half German Shepherd with that name. Had to put him down a few years ago. Beautiful dog.
I appreciate you articulating the absolutely caustic horseshit that was the treatment of Ghost and the dragons.
I JUST REALIZED THAT THE PLOT THREAD OF TYRION REVEALING CERSEI'S BABY TO EURON WENT NOWHERE.
Add it to the pile
so far the only thing that was consistent was cleganebowl and that was mostly a fan service and honestly im not satisfied how it went down more so glad that it even happened
They interviewed the director of that episode and he said "euron wasn't really paying attention"
@@eibbor171 Meh...what about the Hound's entire arc of becoming a pacifist in that village. He didn't seem to give a fuck about his brother then lol
Of course it didn't. What did you think this was? A decent show?
bran is gaslighting his way to the top. palpatine would be proud.
"I made it all up," "To kill the last one who could stop me," "And now I'm all powerful."
When it turns out Bran warged Dany to make her crazy in ep 5

I will as soon as I finish the first. Barely found this channel and this is a GOLDMINE.
At least 18 for me
I'm guilty
Jon so carelessly ditching Ghost broke my heart! I'm glad you kept stressing how stupid that was haha
So excited for Game of Thrones: S08E05: An Unbridled Rage
Jannis and 6
I wish I could see his live reaction to the final episode that they have tonight. Now that would truly be an *unbridled rage*
Cleganebowl was a fucking draw.

Tyrion: "I don't imagine thinking about that subject will leave you any happier then before"
What a perfect line to describe thinking about Game of Thrones after watching season 8. Doesn't matter how good it used to be. Thinking about it won't make you any happier. It's almost like D&D know season 8 is garbage and can't help make points about it in the character dialogue.
31:35 His exasperated "Are you fucking with my soul?!" still cracks me up every time
This is so much more entertaining and enjoyable than the actual GoT episode.
Came here to post this lol. The best part of S8 has been these Mauler reviews which have been 100x better than the actual show.
That very last moment absolutely slayed me...
*hoot hoot*
"...there's a fucking owl."
*hoot hoot*
"...shut the fuck up."
It was a collared dove lmao.
@@SerKGrimm very cool that you recognized that specifically! Do you work with birds?
@@netizenbane Haha. No. I'm just English and it's an incredibly common bird here.
I absolutely love the constant reminders of Jon giving up Ghost. I am not over it either.
I’d listen to a 3 hour rant on the betrayal of Ghost Doggo. Literally unforgivable. 💔
Jon Snow, err, "Aegon Targaryen" (but not Jaehaerys for some reason??) IS CANCELLED.
I don't even watch it and he had me feeling bad for it lol
That said it sounds like such a train wreck I should start those can be entertaining.
"You deserved so much better than this."
Said to this entire season.
Said to the entire show after season 4.
Let's be honest, they deserved better post-season 4 episode 9
RIP My Sunday
'Tismic fuckery' im stealing that. Thank you.
The expert use of character clips in line with the opinions presented.
Tywin for rage and insults, Ned for WTF exasperation, and even Jorah for "this is so ridiculous I'm sad." Tony Stark for I'm smarter than this stupidity, as well... There are others, too. Clips, lol!
LMAO
A review has more character consistency than this season!
lololololololololol
and Danys stupid face, leaning in towards Sansa! 😊
🤣
"His Sundae" that caught me off guard. XD
Same XD
I legitimately thought when he said "My Sundae/Sunday" the joke was about how the fakeouts were wasting his time (on a Sunday), took a bit to realize the intended pun.
Me sundae
Also my effing sunday
Can we take a moment and ask why, if you were standing 2ft from "your sundae" would you let your sundae swim in the wrong direction or be captured without a fight? Do you not love your icecream? Do we even know if she can swim considering shes was a slave girl from birth? Its almost like she needs to die so greyworm can be pissed off and order his men to slaughter people or... Something... Wait, Ohhhhhhhh.
In modern terms, Bron would walk right into Buckingham Palace, go straight to the correct room (presumably because guards told him where to go?), all while carrying a sniper rifle or bazooka.
Well, there was one guy that snuck into Buckingham Palace into the Queen's private chamber in the 80s, I believe and had a little chat with the Queen. The scene is still stupid though.
@@akrybion Really? lol
@@jmo2475 Here you go: ruclips.net/video/oNzdeBorJmQ/видео.html
@@akrybion Thanks man! that is hilarious lol.
A sniper rifle or bazooka made to be extra powerful and quick-reloading for the king. Well, quick reloading as long as you have that lever. Or not, whatever.
Ya know what...the ice king touched her..and in the first scene they ever showed him in he turned a live baby into one of the dead in 1 touch..why didn't "the perfect assassin " turn when touched!?!?!?
"Now get back to browsing Amazon's chair collection"
😂😂😂😂 i wasnt ready for that one, nearly spit my coffee
"Is it common to marry your aunt in the North?" Jon's Stark grandpa, Ned's daddy, married his first cousin, the daughter of his uncle. She even had the name Stark before they married. Also, two generations before that two Stark women were married to their Stark uncles to manage a succession crisis. So yeah, it is common to marry your family in the North.
True. Just look at Bradford.
There is Uncle who marry his half niece.
@@sophiawilson8696 oh really? After reading his comment we would never have known.. Unless you recapped what he said in a '6 year old learning letters format. Thank you, for your insight!
Cersei's mother and father were first cousins who were both named Lannister.
Actually Lyarras Grandfather was Rickards Great grandfather so Ned is technically his own father's second cousin. I'm not sure there is a word for the relationship between Lyarra and Rickard. Lyarra and Rickards father were cousins so she would be his second aunt (I don't think that is the correct word but I hope it's understandable what I meant)
14:14 I just imagine Bron arriving at Winterfell with nothing but that huge crossbow.
"Excuse me, good soldier. Could you point me to Tyrion and Jaime Lannister? I'd ... like them to sign my crossbow."
"Well yes, of course, my good sir. Right this way, please!"
Arya couldn’t get into Winterfell when she went back for the first time. I believe the guards said “Fuck off!” But Braun walks in and finds Jaime and Tyrion in 2 seconds. Winterfell really does need better guards to quote Arya.
I’d forgive Jon allllll those “Yuh are muh queen” for one little “Yuh are muh dawg” to Ghost. 🙌 🐕
