Not going to lie, I actually found it hard watching that happen to a Ted Hankey Dart.
i did the same when i made a slight scallop with my straight barrel dart using the drill.
I have some bulls bullets and I’m so tempted to do this on the smooth bit at the rear
Maybe a tap would help with the cooling or even spit? I recently had a problem with a harrows clic dart shaft thread. It was loose and somehow damaged. I solved it by using moist tissue paper around the thread so it screwed tighter into the shaft. Add glasses for added safety.
like a post said before, genius! got a couple sets sitting gathering dust as the grooves weren't comfortable / in the right place for me. defo gonna give this a go
It's worth a try for a few quid, making grooves bigger works really well, I wouldn't advise trying to take a smooth dart and make it grippy though, glad you enjoyed the video 👍
You can use different size/ thickness washers too
Might have to try this on my Bristow style darts. They need more grip!
Safety glasses, my friend.
I did buy some but they looked silly for the video 😂
@@TheDartsReferee trust me from experience, not as silly as an eye patch! 😁
My first thought when I saw this, horrendously dangerous. As little as the fragments may seem, one in the eye and that's it.
@@Slothells lol get real mary
80-97% tungsten quality darts are precisely machined things, if you just cut some grooves deeper with a drill you won't get all three the exact same and within 0.05g of a difference most likely. Having said that you could use this method to get painting off of grooves more easily, and maybe if you just do a slight "sharpening" by cutting a few grooves ever so slightly deeper-wider you can somewhat do measurements meanwhile and still get it close... But I'd rather advise anyone to go to a professional with it. There's a few custom made darts manufacturer, the one whose name is exactly that (custom made darts)for example is really professional, they will get the darts modified with the most complex grip pattern you can come up with and still maintain a matching weight for all three barrels. They can modify barrels, or manufacture any design you might have, or help you design your own and then manufacture them.
Good work on your videos, keep them coming!
and the drill machine get filed too...
how to check if the darts weight are still match efficient?
Small tip... You cold mark the lines where you like the grooves to be and roll some masking tape on that line. That way you will not damage the drill head with your file.
Done this to my £16 chiz darts they r the grippiest darts I have by a clear home run. Fantastic idea. I'm doing it to all my darts 😂
Nice one, fortunately I work with CNC machinery so I have my own massive dart tinkering machine. Would love to see DIY point replacement thou
That sounds difficult! No idea how I'd do that easily and make it available for everyone to do at home
For what it's worth, I've replaced points at home by clamping the point in a metal vice, putting a strong large washer on a long 2BA bolt and screwing that into the dart body, then whacking the washer away from the vice with a big adjustable spanner loosely fitted round the threads of the bolt. Worked on 4 out of the 5 sets I've tried, some of them are REALLY tight! Though maybe not as tight as me, I could have bought a point replacement tool :/
Hi there is there a simple way to convert steel tip to soft tip at home thanks
Thats awsome. I will try it for sure.
Good luck, let me know how it goes
Can you do this to create nano grip on the dart?
Could you do this with the nose aswell or would it be too hard?
I see it coming...
Jack creates the Adrian Lewis World Champion Dart 2021 😎
Great stuff and don't forget your garden. Wifes getting angry, you know.....
She's fine 😂 she understands haha
What files did you use? Name or link be handy
nice idea!
Where can I get them
Not to the Hankey's my friend....lol
Bat rap but on darts
Where is the link?
Could you use the same technique to add grip to points?
Yeah should work fine, Id just be really careful you don't weaken the point too much
I tried it and it snapped
Surely this will alter the weight of the dart too? Good idea though.
Yeah a little bit but if you wanted them altered anyway, you'd expect that beforehand
@@TheDartsReferee yeah much better to have exact weighted darts, buy the ones you want people!! 🤣
You should sell them for a few bucks
Great Vid mate love your Channel
Ps.could you make a Vid of the top 5 most weird moments when you where the Ref
Yeah okay! I'll get my thinking cap on
And this is how Jack made his darts. Hours of filing

Just realised you play for moreton hall. Played you boys in the super 6’s lol. I play for the bushel Newmarket.
Oh really 😂 how random!
nice
Great until all the darts weigh completely different
like it
How much weight did you lose by doing this?
I'd say less than a gram for all those rings, i can't notice it holding it
