That 85 Bears defense was the real deal, Only allowing 10 points the entire time, an early field goal in the Super Bowl, and then just a garbage time touchdown. Offense did just enough because they knew score enough points and allow the defense to do their job.
@@ElYahvecinLang Exactly this is why the 85 Bears will always be the greatest NFL defense ever. It wasn’t a dynasty but remember 2000 Baltimore and the 2002 Bucs only won one Super Bowl and they are up there with the 85 Bears. 85 Bears is number 1 because we will never see a defense like that ever again in football. A single season or just pure dominance and a team that was truly hungry for blood. How many starting QB’s got hurt against that defense.
Thank you for doing these. I absolutely love them. This makes me wonder how the Dolphins would have faired against the bears in the SB considering they were the only team to beat them in the regular season.
It probably would have been a more competitive Superbowl if Miami played them. Then again the dolphins defense wasn't all that great. Would have loved to see Marino win one. But I believe that it was the Bear's year to win it all, what a team they had back then 🤔
I doubt that a Bears/Dolphins Super Bowl would've been a blowout like this game was. I think the Fins would've won mainly due to matchups between their offense and the Bears' 46 defense.
The Jets and Giants both hosting wild card games on the same weekend in the same stadium. Obviously they had to play the games on separate days and due to a coin toss-the Jets got the late afternoon Saturday game while the Giants got the early Sunday game.
@@ElYahvecinLang No it’s true on the coin toss. The wild card games back then were held on the same day before the playoffs expanded in 1990. But with the Giants and Jets playing in the same building they had to be played on separate days. It’s different from the Marlins having playoff games scheduled around the Miami Dolphins home schedule which happened in 1997 and 2003 respectively. I wonder how Walter Payton felt about Ditka being more concerned about William Perry scoring a touchdown rather than having one of the greatest RB's get a TD in the SB?
I love Walter. Grew up in Chicago during that era. Cried hard when he died. He acted like a spoiled brat about that whole thing. Ditka loved the man, and it was Ditka who made sure that Payton got that record for consecutive 100 yard games at the time. Publicly, Walter always stressed team over statistics. People who were close to him knew that privately, that wasn't altogether true.
I'm late commented on this. I'm a bears fan myself. I was 7 when they won. Watched the game with my dad, who passed just last year. After the game, I asked how come Walter didn't get a TD. He just said I guess it wasn't in the game plan. That being said. I know the Pat's defense were keying on him, but you have to a least give the greatest RB imo more chances to get one

Marino's stats were so far beyond any QB back then that he was playing a different game. But NE played spoiler and guaranteed us another awful SB.
Great work again.Another good playoff video👍

The 10 points the Bears gave up in 3 games were a fg after a gift fumble and a TD after the score was already 44-3
