I have always traveled by myself, including my recent three weeks in the UK five months ago, halfway around the world from my house. When I travel alone, I always meet a lot of nice, friendly people. When you travel with someone, people don't approach you as much. But alone, I get to talk to a lot of locals and they tell me a lot about their lives, and they are fascinating.
Not bad for a 71-year-old, eh?

I actually prefer travelling alone, probably because I have social anxiety and am very much an introvert and don't like talking, so its actually easier for me to be by myself. Also I have some health issues so I find I like travelling alone so I can go at my own pace and do what I want without worrying that someone else will get annoyed with me or not be understanding 😫
I love being alone and especially traveling solo. The only time I ever felt a gap was if I was having some incredible experience usually at an art gallery or museum and there was no one to turn to to share my thoughts.

Patricia, I love all your content; you are a true artist. On solo travel I have done group, friends and solo; they all have pluses and minuses. What’s great about solo is just doing whatever you want, be out all day, eat where/when you want, and nap when you want! Also I found as a solo I interact with locals more. Love the videos of Dubrovnik, it’s now on my list.

I am towards the start of a grand 3 1/2 months of solo travel. Currently on a transpacific cruise from USA to Sydney. Cruising is perfect for solo travellers. There is actually loads of other solo travellers onboard and in terms of getting back to my room at night, it’s the safest things imaginable!

I will admit that covid stopped me from traveling. the last time I was able to take a leisure trip was pre- covid. the first trip I've taken since covid was to the same place to bury family. Life is too short.
That most recent trip taught me that I prefer traveling alone, but I'm grateful for my partner being there when I needed him the most. Know yourself, understand what you can handle and know when to ask for help.

I used to travel and do so much alone before I got married. Now my husband passed just recently and I fear I lost that part of myself…I will have to get there again, it won’t be easy after 21 years of having my best friend.

I visited to Dubrovnik in Yugoslavia ( a united country that time in 1964) alone - at 19. It was a wonderful experience.
