    You are a lifesaver. Great tips. I've recently returned to my coloring and have found such peace and joy in creating and learning. I've been keeping my pencil sets in their original tins, but increasingly I've realized I need organization in being able to select and locate my pencils without rummaging through them. Your video is very thorough and succinct. Thank you!

    This is genius! I have a full set of Polychromos and a full set of Prismacolor. I’m actually a rebel and I would like to mix them together in color order. So I want one chart with all of them in color order. Do you know if that exists? Of course I can make it, but that will be a lot of work. I totally love this system though. It works well with my brain. Less things to fuss over and more time to just color!

      I mixed my polychromos with my brutfuner macarons, they were in dire need of more pastels and are an absolute joy to color with now that they have them. I did the same with my Arteza expert and castle art pasteltints (I prefer the bruts but already owned the pasteltints). There really is no shortcut and it's a lot of work, but worth it IMO. I swatched them all off on two color family sheets with some room around the swatches, then started the process of comparing them, writing the pastels in where they would go on the poly chart, and checking them off on their own. Once that is done I reswatched it all onto a sheet large enough to accommodate both sets. Then pulled them all out, sorted them into basic color family piles (yellow, red, etc) so they were easier to work with, and recased them in order. Another way to go about it is to cut up the original two swatch charts and arrange them on a large flat surface (I tend to use the floor) in mosaic fashion. The plus with this is you can rearrange them to your hearts content until you get exactly what you want without having to reswatch over and over, and it's the best way IME to do an initial color family chart if you don't have an existing one to work from. Just be sure to take photos along with way when you get parts of it the way you want, just in case something bad happens. I learned this the hard way when I finished a 120 set, stepped away for a drink, and my cat decided to "help" while I was gone.

    IVY SMALL NUMBER LABELS 1- 200 that are sold on Amazon are the perfect size for this pencil numbering method. I place the number stickers vertically on the end of each pencil instead of horizontally. It’s easier to see the three digit numbers when the pencils are in a case. Each pack has 16 labels of each number. They are the perfect size and shape for all the various colored pencil brands. The bold black numbers are so clear and easy to read. When applied , none of the pencil information is covered up. I place the sticker then go over it with clear tape. Nice video 😊

    Love, love, love your numbered charts! I find it a huge help to my "organization-centered" brain. I have a lot of ATailoredImage Charts already, but love what you have done with them. And I, too, find her color orders to be the ones I am most in agreement with. I have to admit I have made a number of "unsuccessful attempts at using preprinted numbered stickers with the hope of getting them to stick without using scotch tape, but it is just not possible. The adhesives just do not stick to "round" things especially pencils, especially pencils with a glossy paint finish...heck they didn't even want to stick to my Schpirerr Farben barrels which have more of a "matte" finish. I thought about trying to use really fine grit sandpaper on the barrel where the sticker would go but to much room for something to go wrong!🤣 And yep,😞scotch tape will tend to lift over time on anything, but it is the only option.😎 Thanks for your video and your charts!!

    Question: why are you numbering your Prisma yellow-oranges and your orange-yellows after orange instead of between yellow and orange (as it is on the color wheel), and peach is after red but on the color wheel it would be before red and after orange. I have bought swatches in the past like that and really don't understand why people sort them that way, and have ended up not using them.

    • @jazzydoodledesigns
      @jazzydoodledesigns  Год назад

      I bought the swatch chart on Etsy to get the family order because I was too busy and let’s be honest, lazy to make my own. I then just created a chart with a box for my numbers. My system works on any chart as you just add the order number to your chart. Whether a manufacturer chart or a custom chart. You are correct though, I just don’t have the time to redo another chart. Thank you for commenting I will try to adjust that in the future.

    So what you are showing us is 1 set of pencils organized in a color order you liked (NOT necessarily what the manufacturer suggested, actually from the Etsy seller). You did NOT take ALL of the pencils you own, swatch them, and number?

    • @jazzydoodledesigns
      @jazzydoodledesigns  8 месяцев назад

      Each set I own is organized this way. Each set is put in “my” color family order, (this particular set I purchased a swatch chart on Etsy and used her color family order most I do my own) then i place a number on them and create a swatch chart with color name , manufacturer number and my number on it. I then put this chart in a page protector and put in three ring binder, This saves me so much time finding a color I am looking for and later, the ability to return it to its spot quickly. No, I did not do all my pencils in one swatch chart. I do color alongs so most people prefer I use one set per color along.
