Awesome! I've been thinking about this as an option - the wooden drawers are way too expensive to get to Sweden - but hadn't seen anyone else actually do it. Great to know that it works, I'm getting a couple to hold my paints and pastels!
Kirsty, I've never said this to another woman, but I love your drawers! lol I normally prefer to keep my supplies easily mobile (backpack kit) or in small tote boxes, but this makes me crave a dedicated room in the house with a desk or two. Thanks so much for sharing. Feeling inspired.
Wow - I am always popping into Officeworks as I live close to one of their stores in NSW, but have never actually noticed these before. Many thanks for pointing them out - I have just found them on their website so will be popping into that shop tomorrow to pick up a few.....
Oh no! I only just saw them in store a couple of weeks ago so that is sad to hear! The closest option is the "portrait" version in the A4 size. Your pencils will lay from front to back rather than side to side like the original landscape drawers in the video, however, they will still fit nicely (it's just a different orientation) This is the link to the "portrait" option instead www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/j-burrows-desktop-file-storage-organiser-5-drawer-white-clear-jb5drawwe
I have 10 wooden drawers and need much more storage space. You’re right that we don’t have the plastic drawers in the US- so disappointing. I like the way you have your shelves with the drawers. I have way too many glass jars : (
Really cool work area! Makes perfect sense. Takes a while to figure out a system and mine is currently far from perfect. Btw, that parrot is really a very nice piece of artwork! I love watching your channel and Patreon grow. You're an inspiration and it's nice to see your success. I know it's a lot of really hard work.
Thankyou, I'm lucky to have a whole spare room for art! 😊 Thankyou, the parrot was actually a coloured pencil piece I did a while back! It definitely is a lot of hard work and there's a lot of hours involved behind the scenes to try and make it happen! But hopefully I can do this full time in the future 😊
hi kirsty! when i clicked the officeworks link, it just led me to the main page. i was just wondering if this is the 'J.Burrows Desktop File Storage Organiser 3 Drawer White' desktop drawer you were showing in the video :)
I just updated the link but yes, that's the right one www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/j-burrows-desktop-file-storage-organiser-3-drawer-white-jb3drawwe 😊
Due to space, my pencils are in various sized jars in 3 spice racks but also in a tall plastic drawer tower. i do have a few pencil wraps if I am drawing outside but they are usually empty. most of the rest of my art supplies are in the tall plastic tower
Brilliant! I live in Flinders Park South Australia and have an Officeworks 5 minutes from home. It’s great to have an Australian Tutor! I’m about to sign up for your Patreon tutorials. Love the way you teach!
I have heard of them (they're a popular student grade pencil in Australia) but they aren't lightfast unfortunately, and that's a big consideration for me 😊
I love your solution to pencil storage. It I’m in the USA and trying to purchase them from Office Works, they won’t take my phone number to purchase. Do you have any suggestions on how to order?
I'm sorry, I'm not really sure how to help with that! You could try and call/email them through their website but I'm not sure if they would ship internationally? I've seen sales for the wooden pastel storage drawers in the US and they are usually pretty cheap (I've seen them go on sale regularly through Amazon US and some major online stores like Dick Blick etc) so it might be worth waiting for some to go on sale somewhere and purchase those insetad? Honestly, the reason I made this video was for the Australians who never have access to the wooden pastel drawers for less than $50+ each (I have never seen them on sale here at all) so these plastic drawers are a different option for us! To be honest, I would love to have the wooden drawers instead because they pull out completely, they take up less space, they look nicer, and they are better quality - so if I could access the wooden drawers on sale like other countries can, I would definitely wait for those 😊
Hey does anyone know what to do with colour pencil tin? Because i stored my colour pencil in my pencil case and I'm thinking to throw away the tin is there anything you could do about it
I don't keep my tins anymore (I kept them for years but never found a use for them because I put all my pencils in drawers like this!) You could give the tins away/sell them! There are actually a lot of people who want spare tins so you could try advertise on places like Facebook marketplace
It's from an Australian store called Officeworks so unfortunately, they don't ship to Germany But you could try your local office supply or craft store for something similar?
Are the drawers removable? I store my supplies on bookshelves, so it’d be nice to take out the drawer and have the pencils nearby on my desk when working
@@KirstyRebeccaFineArt Just wanted to check. Taking out the drawers would be better, but its small enough to easily carry/move, then sit on my desk when using. thanks! ☺️
Sounds good but i have 116 pencil sets + 16 sets of assorted markers, inks, gel pens, and loads more so this would not work for me due to lacknof storage space. Add in 600+ colouring books (been colouring 30+years) so not annoption for me
This is such a good idea, but the most similar thing in the US that looks sturdy is $70 per unit now. :( They're only selling flimsy plastic or particle board.
I know, it's strange that other countries don't have something similar! Usually in Australia we can't find a lot of products that they sell in the US (especially art supplies) so it's weird that we have these, and others don't!
Sorry, I mentioned in the description that you can only get them in Australia from Officeworks, but you may be able to find something similar at an office supply store in your country 😊
Hopefully, the wooden pastel drawers that I mentioned will be on sale in your country at some point! I would rather have them but they are never on sale and super expensive in Australia!
Hi there, I have searched for these drawers in many other countries online, and unfortunately, I haven't found an equivalent. The closest thing I have found is the wooden pastel drawers I talk about in the video sorry!
I’m in like middle school, and my house is really small . I don’t know what to do and should I sell my stationery? I don’t no how to do that tho. I’m thinking of just donating to charity or something but my parent would probs want me to earn money from selling them
Did you want to keep the stationery or are you selling because you don't think there is enough room? When I was younger, I used to set up my art things on the dining room table and pack them up when the table was needed again (for dinner etc) You could also keep them inside a travel bag to make it easier to take with you If you are still wanting to get rid of them, I would suggest asking your parents if they can sell them for you (on Facebook marketplace etc) 😊
@@KirstyRebeccaFineArt thanks for the suggestion :) my house is really cluttered and I want to declutter before my sister moves to uni a lot of the stuff I have is from like when I was five. I just put the lids on their trays and put them in a drawer/cupboard! They are like pastel sticks where they don't technically need a lid but they can be dusty/messy so I always put the lid on that came with them (whether that's the tray lid or just single pan lids 😊
I agree, I ve tried everywhere, but to no avail. One idea is to use corrugated cardboard, cut to size. Then carefully spray them with a couple of coats of varnish, this gives the cardboard some protection and rigidity.
Hi Andy, Sorry I've just updated the description so the link is on there 😊 The drawers are from Officeworks officeworks.com.au *this is an Australian store I haven't found an equivalent online for a US store or UK store but I would suggest trying your local office/stationery supply store. PS: If you live outside Australia, a lot of big art stores (Michael's, Jerry's Artorama, Cheap Joe's etc) have sales and coupons and will have the wooden drawers at a very decent price, so you could look into getting those instead! The UK have specials in some stores on the wooden drawers (mentioned in the video) where you can get them at very reasonable prices! You're lucky you can get most other art supplies in the UK though! It's very hard to get a lot of supplies here in Australia 😊

THAT'S A GREAT IDEA! I'd have to work out the best way to do that though, because they are a shiny plastic so I would imagine the paint would chip off!
