I don't think someone could actually be bothered to add a jam (or 'varenie') on daily basis, but I guess it is can be considered as a traditional way to drink your tea. And in general tea culture is pretty strong here, at least imo. It is also 5:08 am and half of my brain is still asleep why am I even..

In addition, the artists at doujin events aren't generally paid well, the money mostly goes towards breaking even, thats why the costs are much lower than if you were to attend a convention in the States, for example. Artists in the States are looking to make a profit (they will be lucky if they break even though, depending on the table and print costs) because the costs to print and create merchandise are so expensive. In Asia, costs to print are much lower, so the artists don't charge much to sell their goods either. Every artist makes their work with love being the first point! I know you received a lot of backlash which sucks, but we're all content creators so I hope you can respect the work regardless of where the money is going since we all support the official series in different ways ~*~*

In Russia and the eastern Slavic countries we don't drink tea with jam in it that often, only if we've run out of sugar or crave some extra sweetness and flavor in our tea 😌 but it's soooo cute that the owners of the café pointed out such a little thing about our culture and decided to serve tea like this ❤️
