Tim Weiner wrote a story on the NY Times, WELL KNOWING that as a result of this, the man he wrote about was going to get killed . You can hear the story on Malcolm Gladwell's excellent podcast Revisionist History. The episode is called " The Road to Damascus". I am absolutely appalled by this man. If he doesn't show any remorse, I wish with all my heart that his end be like the end of Ivan Ilyich. You can have all the power you want now. But in your death bed you will have to face your CONCSCIENCE.
I don't need to be a big deal as a person to claim that it is morally inacceptable to cause someone's death KNOWINGLY. Just listen to the podcast by Malcolm Gladwell that I have mentioned above. He asks Tim Weiner about it. Whether he feels remorse or not. He doesn't even pause for a moment! He says: " Life goes on". Can you sound more evil than that? Lack of compassion has always been horrifying to me. And I don't need " credentials" for that.
@@bolivar1789 'Al Pacino' was responsible for the deaths of many people, Tim Weiner didn't seek that information, he was contacted by 4 different sources, he didn't know 'Al Pacino' would be killed, 'Pacino' was offered a hiding place, he refused, Weiner contacted the agency before publishing... it's the CIA that did everything wrong in this case, they are to blame.
"The West will pay dearly for its failure to understand that 'perestroika' is not a denial of Leninism but a radical, creative and effective application of the tactic described by Lenin in 'Left-wing Communism - an Infantile Disorder'. In this document, Lenin wrote that true revolutionaries should not be afraid to discard revolutionary phraseology and adopt right-wing tactics to carry out a revolutionary policy." P.123; The Perestroika Deception; ANATOLIY GOLITSYN; 1990
To say that Nixons china strategy didn't work is totally asinine. One of the great geopolitical moves of all time. Tim's other books are fabulous but he let his personal hatred of Nixon cloud this one.
In 1970 I was 12 years old and everything was wonderful, I had hope, I had dreams and the world finally seemed ready for universal peace...
