Yellowstone COYOTE VS BISON

While in Yellowstone we stumbled upon a remarkable scene. A coyote had just killed a bison calf. The herd kept chasing off the coyote and this game of cat and mouse lasted for over six hours. If the herd was that defensive of a carcass, and the cow was so recently freshened she still had afterbirth hanging out her back end, I'm thinking the calf was born dead and the coyote was just looking for an easy meal

I don't get it. The adult bison were charging and hindering a lone coyote, who only wanted to get at a seemingly dead buffalo calf, which apparently was killed by one or more of the adult bison stomping it to death, unless the coyote was actually the one who killed the calf.

It was dead upon birth looks like, stillborn. The Moma Bison was trying to revive it, wanted it to get up.
