Gosh I was on edge the whole time. And my anxiety was greatly enhanced by the player turning swivelling and checking their 6, as it made it seem like the mutants could sneak up out of nowhere. The Game Archivist, an excellent job once more ❤
This game does sometimes represent. The horrors it working on oil platform Well, minus the monster. The most Dangerous thing is just heavy fog and heavy snow.I used to work on an alaskan oil rig.
@user-tw3mm6ru1s It's been five years since I worked on the rig but the pay was worth it Like. Most High Intense jobs it can be dangerous Like I said the only dangerous part on rig I worked on was just heavy fog and heavy snow.
One of the things that sticks with me, is the question of if the "Shape" is even a conscious being or not. Is it just going on automatic or is it planning anything? Is there a thought or instinct? How did it even get on Earth, or was it here this whole time?
A lot of skill and talent went into this, it's just a shame that it was wasted on functionally the same generic Lovecraftian slop we've seen a million times.
Working on an oil rig, something cray cray happens and your character falls of the rig, you wake up and your crew mates are monsters and you have to keep the rig afloat and try to find a way out
Another Lovecraft-inspired game that does not really manage to convey the primal fear of the unknown and the uncanny that he tried to impart in his readers. I'm starting to wonder if games, having to be interactive, can even do that...
@@nanzistnt2573 Only if you're set on mimicking Lovecraft to a tee. I've read more stuff that outdid Lovecraft on that front than stuff of his that actually met those expectations. Once I knew what he was really getting at, it was hard to look at his stuff with any positivity. Maybe just me, though.
Eh, I think the “terror” here has to come from a general sense of empathy. The character building was beautiful and heart wrenching. The sense of urgency and hopelessness was pretty untouchable in comparison to a lot of other games (hell even some movies.) I think maybe you’re looking for mind-bending dread in a game that didn’t really aim to convey that in the first place. Not going to lie, this game made me cry. The voice acting and cut-scenes were too sorrowful.
Nothing visual will ever be able to properly convey lovecraftian horror, considering 99% of it is based on things being uncomprehensible to the human mind.
The wrench getting caught mid air by a ghost was a nice pallet cleanser lol. Thanks for the play through, this was haunting.
The voice acting in this game is a genuine delight to listen to.
😅sexy

Really enjoyed this. Very tense. Great voice acting, and great play through.
3:08:48 well that ruined the mood lol
Did they really have to fast forward the end credits?

@@timelord5603 good to know
i have been waiting for this game since january and it DID NOT DISSAPOINT! Amazing video btw
Respect to your game play and the lack of commentary
2:15:55 I like how Caz just calls Brodie a prick. And Brodie just understands how Caz feels.
And am I the only one that noticed the majority of these monsters hate Caz?
the most horrifying thing about this game is knowing it can only end in one way

Omg english is not my first language but it’s the first time when I don’t understand what they’re talking. What is this accent 😅?
Scottish 😂
@@QuintessentiallyBritishthanks ❤
Perfect responds Caz 👌 2:15:55
So basically Dead Space on the oil rig, minus shooting part and kinda closed end since protagonist didn't make it.
Well played, Archivist.
This reminds me of a tv show called "The Rig".
Great show. Waiting on the 2nd season.
What's it exactly, and ik it's about a rig, but I need specifics
Another cracking walkthrough. Simply terrifying!!!!
1:14:23 Bro you missed the part where Davros called when he is at the life boats
Wow I did not expect to get so scared at 1:40:38😭😭😭
Good game! Good playthrough, TGA! 🕹
does anyone else have a problem with the game freezing? 47:44
I wonder what accent do the characters have. It kinda sounds like Scottish or so.
An interesting game but in the end I couldn't know what is that giant thing
thanks for the vid but i really wish you would look at the monsters more. cant see anything :(
Hi, I recommend about " Bride in the cave" . Can you play it?
Artistcaleb would have loved this game 😿
I would have enjoyed his commentary 😿🪻🌹🪻🌹
Still Wakes The Deep 2 Full Game (2024)
What an awesome f*****g game! I want to truly thank you for making this game in the true language that makes the United States what it is today!
scots??
Hello, the Game Archivist! An amazing game named 'Stellar Blade' has been released on PS5. You should archive it soon.
A lot of skill and talent went into this, it's just a shame that it was wasted on functionally the same generic Lovecraftian slop we've seen a million times.

so what's the plot?
Working on an oil rig, something cray cray happens and your character falls of the rig, you wake up and your crew mates are monsters and you have to keep the rig afloat and try to find a way out
Seems pretty obvious...
if only there were some way you could find out....
Bro getting past trotts took me like 100 attempts even with this guide wtf was wrong with that part of the game

Well Lovecraftian horror as a horror style is a pretty low bar if you ask me.
Honestly, dude, I think you're giving Lovecraft a little too much credit.
