I've recently cosplayed Oola from Star Wars, and she has a lot of skin on show. But what I did was get a morph suit in the green I wanted, I nipped in the seams where I wanted to fit my body well and added contouring with eyeshadow (that didn't work very well but I like that watered acrylic paint trick). Added fake nails to the hands and sewed Oola's outfit to the morph suit!! Also a good trick to make any body paint look even is using eyeshadow to powder. (That was a lot of tips I'm sorry).
Anya: *mentions how her full body paint took 3 hours* Me: *sweats thinking about how I want to cosplay Polly from Monster Prom who wears a tank top and short shorts and makes me have even more skin that needs painting*
Ruby Louise If you google homestuck.com you can find the webcomic!! If it starts with “a young man stand in his bedroom...” it’s the right thing lol. It’s kinda hard to explain what homestuck is about,,,, but there are 4, 13 year old kids who play a video game and kinda end the world??? And they come across a new species called trolls. The comic is about 8000 pages.... but it’s a rlly great story so it’s worth it.
Love the idea of doing gloves/sleeves or tights. Wouldnt have thought of that. I'm all for convenience. Hate having to take off a lot or fix costume after to using bathrooms, so gloves would be a great option, instead of reapplying paint.
Here’s a tip for your body suit sew small darts into the sleeves of your body suite right at the elbow where it creases it will stop the fabric creasing as much as look better
I feel happy ... cause a few hours ago I was thinking about you and face and body paint and how you just do your face but I was wondering what fabrics you use xD and this pops up !!! Thankss
You could also always make armsocks out of tights that already exist, and cut the feet into hands yourself. That should be pretty cheap, and you could buy a white pair and dye them whatever colour you'd need so you can match it!
Gosh, I wish I’d had this video when I was cosplaying Aayla Secura. I used blue Mehron Paradise body paint, and i applied it horribly using a brush...it was streaky and terrible, and I was uncomfortable with my appearance at the con all day. The paint also didn’t match my Lekku headpiece...and my hairline showed at the edges...ugh. My mom had tried to talk me into just getting a blue body suit so I wouldn’t have to paint my arms and chest, but I insisted it wouldn’t look good. Then I went to the con, and a purple Twi’lek was wearing purple arm socks-she looked fantastic and seamless. Needless to say, I’m grateful that you made this video!! I want to move on from looking like an amateur cosplayer 😂
a kinda funny story involving body paint/armsocks, i was cosplaying mina ashido from bnha. the convention i went to stamped your wrist when you entered, but i was wearing armsocks, so my wrist was covered, so we ended up stamping my neck, and yeah thats it, i just thought it was funny haha
I have a bunch of TAG bodypaint, its useful, but is so so SO much of a pain to use on larger areas!!! This video really helped in exposing me to better (and not water-based) bodypaints!! Thank you!
I’m kinda torn,, I really wanna cosplay Mina to a convention, but I live in Australia, and if I wear arm socks/ body suit, there is defiantly going to be sweat marks cause the cons in summer,, but I also don’t wanna paint my whole body and then the paint gets sweat off
I know it's been a while, but i have a solution to this in case it was still a dilemma. There's spots on your body where you're more likely to sweat than others. If you get a bodysuit, you can put stuff there to soak up the sweat like panty liners and other products made to absorb liquid. I don't really have a solution if you went with body paint tho ^_^' Hope this helps!
Aaaah this is perfect! I’m going to my first con as Mina (Bnha) and bought snazroo (idk how that is spelled XD) and I wasn’t sure how I was gonna keep it set for so long!
@@tropicalswirl9479 I'm biased against painting arms just because of how time consuming and overall inconvenient I've found it to be, so I definitely recommend a bodysuit or armsocks.
Thank you so much for making this video! I've been looking for months to find a good paint I can use, and especially a way to seal it afterwards- Thanks again!!
i wanted to cosplay someone who takes a full face/neck of facepaint, the pallet i have is the revolution SFX metallic face paint pallet, and i’ve never used it before, but i’m so scared it’s going to come off on my clothes lol. thank you for the tips!! so helpful :)
I just got my lapis cosplay and am already working on styling the if and testing out the face paint but personally I heard mehron is great. My brother has used it for his hometuck cosplays. The only thing is I couldn't find one of the cream sticks in the light blue color I wanted on Amazon. So I went with there light blue paradise water activated face and body paint. I recently tried it on and it worked well. I'm not sure how it will work with sweating though. I will look more into that and test out more things with it. If it doesn't end up working I plan on getting a cream light blue mehron stick before a con. I also saw some reviews on light blue tights saying that they perfectly matched someone's light blue mehron face paint for a cosplay and that they used the tights as arm socks and they worked perfectly so I plan on buying two pairs of those (one to use as arm socks and the other to use and tights) but I have never cosplayed a character where I needed face paint/armsocks/tights. Can anyone tell me if the way I'm going about this is good or any reccomendations?
Do you happen to have a tutorial on how to full on make the skin gloves because that's just absolutely brilliant! I'm looking up ways to effectively cosplay Persephone from Lore Olympus and while I would love to do full on body paint the smudge thing really bothers me given she wears a lot of white or off white pink ish things and that's an absolute challenge within it's self . I've also never made a body suit skin suit thing before and it all just seems super easy and I guess if it's just for a photoshoot it can get the proper editing to remove seam lines and maybe a few extra wrinkles where applicable. Either way tutorials would be amazing! And this was very helpful thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much for making this. I was using a water based paint and it didn't look how I wanted and didn't build. I'll def give your suggestions a try. I did an arm sock type thing for my weeping angel and matched the leggings on the feet with the ones on the arms. I had trouble matching the color of the leggings with the paint also.
Omg my first cosplay ever was Haggar from Voltron and I didn't know that I'd sweat through the snazaroo fast because I thought if I'd set it, it would be resistant to that!! If I ever do another cosplay with an odd color of skin like that, I'll be sure to come back to this video!!
Hi! I love your cosplays and videos, and this was so helpful! I do have one question though, I'm going to start cosplaying homestuck trolls, but everytime I use body paint my skin reacts horribly, are the body paints you use good for sensitive skin, or do you have any brands you'd reccomend for sensitive skin?
I have very sensitive skin and I use Mehron paradise water activated paints. They are super gentle on my skin and I've had no problems. The only bit that I have issues with is washing them off after they've been sealed but I just use coconut oil to loosen everything up and then follow up with my normal face soap and it comes off with minimal irritation 😅. So yeah, that's an option

Thank you so much! I honestly don't think bodypaint is all that necessary for most of the Welcome Home cast, so if you don't want to go through the trouble of painting yourself, I think you'll be fine. 😊
So this spray that you used prevents that the paint smeared on accident? Im a boy and have really less knowledge to make up stuff, had once body paints but sufferd from that problem, well to be short, my next cosplay will have black/gray skin color, most of my skin will be exposed... 😅
Once you have your main skin color applied, do you use different shades for contouring and highlighting of that same kind of makeup? or do you switch to regular make up?
I feel like armsocks would get too hot for me... but on the other hand I already have experience with staining props with my painted hands so maybe I should take that risk

I wouldn't use Snazaroo, it streaks really easily.

Gorilla Glue, it's great.
Can I ask how your paint method works against sweat? I’m looking to cosplay as Gamora for this Halloween and I’m worried about my face sweat.
I haven't had any problems with sweat, but mind you I've only been wearing the Ben Nye paint on my face, not the rest of my body.
