I just tested this, and it is working without having data. It just says offline maps, and everything works on the screen like it did before with maps.
Is the road posted speed feature works as well with offline maps?
@@vicdogra1841 Yes
Does not work on mine. Says you can't use offline maps without a data plan. Downloaded maps have been deleted.
@@vicdogra1841 not on mine. Says a data plan is required even though I'm connected to wifi.
Do not work with me 2022 Yukon Denali. It requires data plan in order to download offline maps
This is really useful for areas that you don’t have service in like mountains.
More people should see this!!
Super frustrating how you spend so much on a new vehicle and can’t get a simple application without paying a stupid amount of money. Every other brand on the market has a navigation system that is free with the vehicle.
This is verified to work with an extra few steps. They updated recently I guess. What I did was download the maps to my phone on my Google maps account. (Same google account as the truck. This is key) Then connect your truck to your home WiFi or your phone’s hotspot. Give the truck a few minutes to download. Not sure the capacity but it holds my Dallas Map and my Hometown map. About 140MB total. It doesn’t give you a count on how long it will take. I had the truck on for 10 minutes.
Once it has Downloaded you’ll have the maps indefinitely. Update the maps for new roads by connecting your WiFi Or Hotspot every few months. This does work though.
It delete itself once your data plan expires. GM doesn’t let you save map on porpoise to force you buy data plan. I use car play iPhone
I have downloaded my offline maps MANY times, but within a couple days of downloading my 2022 Refreshed Sierra Denali starts bugging me again that I need offline maps....when I got look, the maps I downloaded a day or two ago are gone? It's been very frustrating...I have all the data plans, etc., so not sure what the issue is...
How much downloadable space is in GM infotainment system?
Can you do the navigation offline?
Can you search places on the offline map?
My data trial just expired on my refreshed 22 Silverado. I can confirm that Google straight up deletes your offline map data.
WOW that's horrible...
I can attest to that. 😡
I just tested this, and it is working without having data. It just says offline maps, and everything works on the screen like it did before with maps.
I lost all of my google stuff when my trial expired. I had hell making the stereo function at all after that, i couldn't even connect to wifi to sign in to mychevy or google. After a few days, i was able to connect to wifi and sign in to google, but maps does not work. Also, I lost the wireless android auto capability when trial expired. I use an iphone primarily, but also have an android that I like to use after work hours. Sucks that it doesnt work anymore.
@@2024CorvetteE-Ray really. It works for you but not for me. Interesting.
How about a 1 yr update? Did it delete the "out of date" maps or do they still work. Just bought a 22 sierra elevation used from a dealer and recieved a 1 month plan so I can dl maps on their data plan instead of using my cellphone as a hotspot.
what is the storage size for the infotainment system? just to know the offline maps limit!
That's what I want to know!
2nd gen ZR2 owner here. So bummed they have ruined an otherwise great infotainment system with forced Google integration. I won’t be getting a new GM vehicle.
Same, this is some shady ish.
Do you need OnStar to use offline Google maps? Also, 111 degrees?! 🥵
3 options:
1- need data plan for the truck
2- connected to some sort of a WiFi
3- use your phone as a hot spot and connect the truck to it.
How do you get the maps on the full screen without the clock showing?? Do you have to purchase the GMC access plan for that to work?
Just press the maps button on the left
@@2024CorvetteE-Ray any time I click on the maps app while connected to my phone, it only goes half screen with the clock showing on the other half. If I’m not connected to phone and click on maps, it does go full screen but on the bottom it says subscription required
@@jlennon1114 Nope. You don't need to pay, it's just displaying maps. Even if you are not using it. But it's slowing that way, because you are in your phone settings on the truck. But clicks the maps icon on that left, and regardless of it phone behind connected it will show maps.
@@2024CorvetteE-Ray the maps app will not go full screen on my truck at all while showing streets. The only time it goes full screen is if I am not connected to my phone and it is just a blank white screen when I click on maps on the left, it does not display any streets at all, just a blank white screen and on the bottom it says subscription plan required. For the first 1-2 months I had the truck, it worked perfectly fine. Then it started doing this, I’m guessing because it had a 30-60 day free subscription for it or something. All I know is the maps will not function at all on the full screen. Only will work with the clock/music on the other half.
That's strange...very strange. Do you have an IG? Mine is @22GMCDuramax tag me, I'll show you more there.
You can’t download offline maps when u don’t have data plan with onstar unfortunately.
Hahaha, I did download the offline map. After the data plan expired, so did the offline map. Good One
Please advise on how to bypass this matter. How do download an offline map without data? ..........
You can still connect to WiFi.
Just got a 2022 suburban. Google maps thinks I’m in Michigan, I’m in Texas.
😂😂😂
I can’t find a remedy. Someone mentioned enable location allowing or something like that. That’s been done.
