I can imagine just a casual just joining ranked on the first day of season 9 and just get matched up with a game filled with contenders and pro players.
That was me ngl. The first games it was HARD. Like, besides my teammates just... not using their braincells which uhh okay, the other team had PERFECT aim ;-;

All this reset did was put diamond players in gold. Gold-plat is stomp or get stomped.

@@charliefield1514 this was mainly for the start of the season. I’m diamond 4 peak, currently diamond 5. But the people I’d vs when I placed gold 3 was gold players lol.
i was placed in low plat when i was diamond 1 peak, bcs of my 2/8 placements

We can't sit down with blizzard and say "silvers shouldn't be in diamond lobbies" or "low masters should be in top 500 lobbies" without blizzard saying "skill issue, L+ratio, git gud" and that's such an issue
Shrodinger's placements: simultaneously the most important games in deciding your stuck rank, and after "reset" still matches unranked T500 with eachother
yeah i found the issue with the rank reset was that there was no ACTUAL rank reset as i was still playing against people of the same rank and even some higher ranks, yet my predicted rank dropped all the way down to gold 2 or something, i still managed to climb from plat 4 to diamond but like cmon man
Yeah it took me almost 100 games to get to my season 8 rank and I only placed 3 tiers lower and had an above 55% winrate the entire time.
Yuppers, I got reset to Plat and constantly get games with "master role challengers" "grandmaster role challengers".
I just checked out this season. Was averaging 16k damage per ten on zarya and went no where..
The system is so bad. You get punished for playing on your main account. This needs to be adressed, I've completely lost all motivation to play ranked.

Having very brand new golds on my team AND ACTUAL CONTENDER AND PRO PLAYERS ON THE ENEMY TEAM. I can't think of a game that's worse than this
Was between D1-M3 almost all seasons during OW2. Then the change came, placed D5 and climbed to D4 midway towards D3. Then I went on a massive 12 game losing streak when I was still in the 'volatile' phase and now I'm at P1 and need 2-3 wins against 1 loss if I want to climb. Not fun.
Same here. Was D1-M4, and after the reset I can't get anywhere past D4.

THERE WAS NO RANK RESET
All they did was add placements again, you never got a new rank and if anything, it just threw you down a rank or two.
Honestly so disappointed, I would have climbed if my teammates werent rage quitting, afking, feeding, etc etc.
I had a guy throw a tantrum and leave the game after we lost first point, all because I was playing lucio (with rein) instead of pocketing him. Plat players are children and make it near impossible to rank up.
I'm Masters last season on DPS and Tank but now struggling to escape out of Diamond. I don't know why but it feels like there are so many "unwinnable" games as a solo q player this season. Not saying that my teammates are always the problem but you get what I say, feels so frustrating when you are the only one doing something on the team.
The enemy team is usually stacking and they'll target the one doing something. ask me how I know

In the last system I could go 5-3 and go up 2 divisions but if I go 5-3 now I’m only up 50% and still in the same division
5-3 and go up 2 division is not ok since S3 people got boosted but they went a bit too hard on s9
The fact that your first placement was you being matched by teammates that are related to hoodini with their disappearing act and just being literal garbage vs your second placement where your teammates were actually there revealed how unfair this nonsense is. Hell yeee
i just dont understand why my placements are literally all against gm1-2s, go 6-4 and get placed diamond to play against more gm1-2s with -30 for a loss and +20 for a win
OW1 they fixed the problem where you lost more than you gained and now they're right back to it. It takes like 3 games to make up for one loss. Its been miserable.
yea ranking up is next to impossible right now. it's a constant loop of winning a game losing a game winning 2 losing 3 etc
Facts and then win streak only gives 2% extra boost, while losing streak gives like -10%

I was master 5 dps in s8. EVERY SINGLE of my placements i played in high gm - top 500 lobbies, i went 9 - 1 in my placements and placed in plat 2

Same every game i played was high masters/low grandmaster to high grandmasters/ top 500 even top 100 players and went 10-0 yet i got diamond 5
Found your videos a couple of weeks ago, absolutely love them and they got me back into an Overwatch addiction so you can decide wether that’s a good thing or not.
It did the reverse for me, made me remember how salty I got from Overwatch competitive and placements and made me happy that I no longer play the game. Still love the vids though.

As a masters player in the past 3-4 seasons.. this rank reset SUCKS. All it did was put me in plat and now I’m a hard stuck diamond 4 player so this makes me feel better seeing the rank 1 tank is stuck the same distance away from his normal rank like I am. This needs to be fixed. I’m stuck playing with players who actually have never been better than plat or maybe low diamond when I’m a masters player. It’s ridiculous. They don’t understand teamwork and don’t play at a fast enough speed to keep up with calls or to follow up on anything and then they make me look bad cuz I’m expecting, and used to, people to come up with me and work together to secure kills….
The higher quality, longer videos are great. Keep up the good work

I went 8 and 2 and got placed silver 3 on dps past seasons I've been diamond and I've touched low masters
same lol. I was gm4 in season 8 but now im stuck in high diamond with every game being either expected or verstatile💀

i think the worse thing about this ranking is that the loses heavily outweigh the wins. i also hate that if u have friends ranked higher than u, theres a chance u get 0% (as the lower rank, but not the higher rank) after a win.. it happened to a me like 3 times (friend was plat tank).. I've been hardstuck silver2 support even after 121 wins

But my comp games this season... Holy fk. You lose 5-6 games in a row, playing 40:6 etc. it's insane. Literally stopped playing. My team is constantly waaaay worse.

he has 6 losses and 4 wins in master gm and top 500 lobbies. he was put in those lobbies because they know he is at that level, it does not completely reset your rank it just lets your rank change rapidly for the first 10 games

I’ve been high diamond low masters as a solo Q support. This season I was diamond for awhile and then I just kept falling to gold 2 as of now… lobby’s feel the same too…
yup I just did the replacements on all my roles and I actually ranked up on all of them from gold/plat to all roles at diamond and I never touched it again. I knew this would happen
had gm2/1 lobbies at the reset ended up diamond and I'm actually stuck diamond now lol

This season has been impossible for me to rank upp. I can win like 4-5 games in a row but 2-3 losses (even when im still performoing goof) it takes me down so much. The last system was honestly better.
All the smurfs fuck with the expected and consolations. Plus after a certain number of matches you start gaining like plus 13-15 per win, while each loss is -17 to -25. I went on a 10 win streak and was still only gaining around 20. Crazy dumb
I can confidently speak for everyone and say we all love the thumbnail kraan
well we are over halfway through the season and my comp games still feel way more fast paced and difficult even though my rank stayed the same
The system has to be still trolling
Your final rank depends on your first game. If your a diamond player, and your first game you get places into gold, there's a very little chance that you get back upto diamond
I knew the system was screwed up when it took me 50 games to climb from high silver to high gold. No matter how well I did in my new placements I was still placed in gold. I then went and made a smurf account and placed in high plat with a similar amount of wins.

Interesting, I also have a similar experience. Im like GM2-4 most seasons.
But I played with some lower rated players and friends during the placements. (Because wide group range is now open). I placed Diamond5 and I struggle getting back up. I have a 60-70% winrate but im still in Diamond2 after 80 games.
On the other side my MMR seems to be still higher rated because I am mostly the lowest ranked player in the lobby. For example: Matchmaking Range is (Dianond - Grandmaster.
I still play against Masters/Grandmaster players while im stuck in Diamond2. It feels a bit wrong and I think u got a point in this video.
I have a 67% wr this season with 78 games and have only gone up 2 ranks since i lost most of my placements
yeah. i love playing 20+ hours with 60+% winrate and only going up a rank or two. what a great system

Console is pain this season, I was masters 2 dps last season and Iv placed in diamond 1 but iv been stuck diamond 1 since the start of the season, due to a lot of gm players dropping down to low masters/diamond.
I believe your placements where based off your QP MMR, which for most people would be THE SAME RANK
Shout out to when I got 3% from a win then -39% on a loss following that win.

i think the rank system is just a headache for most players. people dont realize unless youre playing 25 hours a week you will have no business being higher than master 3.
that being said, your rank is your rank. if you lose more than you win, you dont belong in your rank.
if the system gives you less % when you win and takes away more when you lose, you dont belong in your rank.
healing, damage, kills dont matter if you arent winning games. the direction your rank moves is ACCURATE 100% of the time.
I won also 8 of my placement matches and got ranked in Diamond 1. Ifinished the previous season on Masters 4....
I missed 2 seasons of OW. Would next season be a good time to return?
I actually went 8-2 solo Que dps in placements and they put me in plat 2 and I was usually low masters to high diamond before every season making more progress but this season doesn’t make sense

I created a new account after a suspension and I was chilling then I did placements and placed diamond 2 so that got me curious and I made another account and sweated my qp games after going 50-7 I was predicted masters 5 after my first 2 placements, if you want to get into master, win 50 qp games

It didn't reset everyones ranks just compressed every single player into Gold, Plat and Diamond at the start of the season
I'm Plat 5 tank and I keep getting 1 player on the team who is isn't even ranked or very low bronze.
i have 3 accounts and they all got placed around my old rank no matter how bad my placements were.
i went 7-3 on one account and lost almost every game on the other but still i got placed almost the same rank wich was around diamond 3.
But after that it started getting funny.
i went on massive loss streaks on every account till i was low plat.
i got matched with the worst players possible until i lost a ton of games.
no matter what i did and how well i did it was almost like the game was decided before it even started
i was losing almost two days straight and after that suddenly my games went back to normal and i got ppl with at least 1 braincell on my team and i was able to get my old rank.
it felt like it was forcing me on a loss streak everytime i finished my placements
this happend on all accounts and i was close to losing my sanity :D
Personally, if I'm winning games in diamond and masters, i feel like the rank system should be giving you more percentage.
But it doesn't...

its true, i fucked up my placements as well ive been masters 2 the entire fucking season (yea if i was better i could be slightly slightly higer rank) and just loss streaked, im about to hop over to my other lower ranked account thats unplaced tbh. This isnt even a new issue though. The account thats currently stuck in masters 2 used to be my unplaced account, i ranked up way higher than my main on that account, main being stuck in gm3-2 and that account being literally top 200.

My son is a Masters player. He won 52 games at 94% on my acct and it's still Bronze. Once you place you cannot get out.
I won 9 out of 10 games and got plat 4 on tank but on support won 4 out of 10 and still got plat 4

My original acct has never been over Silver 5. I started a new one and got Platinum 3 in placement.
I got to -50 due to ppl disconnecting 2-3 mins into the match (winnable or not. Even if we had a guaranteed win)
i think u should have a shadow elo and that elo is ur old elo but if u complete ur placements u get a new elo as if it was a new account with no prior rank in ur shadow elo's rank cause it seems like they did this but then i dont think they reset the elo and made a shadow elo they just made ur elo get affected like ur in placements
My main had like 70 % WR and took like 100 games to go up like 300 SR. System is dog.
best bit is, it's almost always uphill battle/consolation, lol

There clearly is an issue with the ranked system and how it places and adds rank as I’m hard stuck in plat when I’m a GM player but on my ult account I’m in GM after 30 games
It is so annoying playing as either tank or dps where my peak is diamond 5 and see masters gm top 500 role challenger on the enemy team. Like ik they aren't smurfing I just wanna play against people in my rank not 3 ranks above me

Im surprised none of the big streamers are talking about how artificially hardstuck the top level players are. Theres only 14 days of this season and gm5 is still t500 and barely the top 20 on any role are actually above gm1
