Just thought I'd mention that the brand new Alcest album, Les Chants de l'Aurore, was released today. It is exquisite!

17:30 those harsh vocals kicking in are so cathartic

Great to see another Alcest fan on your channel! This is one of my favorite albums from them, along with their Spiritual Instinct that you have.

Alcest is one of those bands, that I can listen to, but I don't feel like, I have to have a record in my collection.

That was a good listen, not over the top with harsh vocals.

Jim is there any way you'll be getting into more extreme black metal in the future?

    Hi Jim,
    Side two.
1st song. A wall of sound but very different from what Devin Townsend produces. I quite like it except the whisper growling.
2nd song (I think). Clean vocals 😊 but us it French? Not bad at all.
3rd song. It’s more about creating an atmosphere then a real song with lyrics but not bad except the bloody vocal noises.
4th song. Not that interesting this song. Not enough happening here.
All in all I like this album quite a bit. I hate the whispering growling but they’re only very short.
I found, well you did, another post rock band that you might like and I do remember you played them once.
Elephant tree with the album Habits.

shoegaze meets black metal. what's not to like? Alcest ticks alot of boxes for me.

This type of music used to be called Blackgaze though I don't know if that term's gone out of fashion these days. Definite elements of both genres and very listenable as a result.

Welp, I gave it a full listen, but this one definitely isn't for me. I got a bit excited about the final track when I thought it was going to turn into a dirge, but it didn't quite go there. I don't think I've heard a single band yet with the "shoegaze" label so maybe that just isn't the genre for me.
