It's amazing how little they know about their own home. The boy visiting Robert was the best bit of this episode. Robert was very polite when he had an opportunity not to be.
It was rather strange that they had very little knowledge of their home considering how proud they are of their home, history, etc. Mary, in particular, usually talks about forever living at the Abbey and preserving it for her children.
I mean...some of the things these people are asking, though. If I lived there, I wouldn't care why the shields are blank. 😂 I think if I were planning to give a tour of a place, though, whether I lived there or not, I would try to learn as much as I could about it. Granted that's a lot easier now than then.
