GOSH! Emma did her thing here! I never look at this scene with dry eyes. Even Laura cried. I wonder if she broke character doing so? I’m glad they kept it if she did; It’s a brilliant touch to such an emotional scene. 😢

Since Mary hardly ever got told off for being a nasty bully to Edith this was satisfying to watch, even though she still rolled her eyes after it. Funny how Mary didn’t give a fig about Edith, even showing off a new hairstyle when poor Micheal’s death was confirmed when you’d think she’d be empathetic to what Edith was going through after Matthew’s death. Then when she might become a Marchioness, suddenly Mary is very interested in Edith’s life just so she can ruin it.

The Granthams acted very nice on Mrs. Patmores behalf. But the case also shows the double standards of those decades: The Granthams can laugh her *** of at the story. Nobody would call the Grand Hotel Liverpool a "house of bad reputation" or disparage her in any way because Lady Mary and Tony Gillingham spent a week there under false names. But poor Mrs. Patmore, who has probably never done anything inappropriate in her life, is practically branded as a brothel madam by the sensationalist press (and by Mr. Carson of course 🤣).

Remember it was Edith who snitched to the Turkish Ambassador about the Pamuk death in Season 1. That was foul for a family member and could have ruined the entire Crawley family on account of simply being jealous over a guy. Edith's insecurities always get the best of her including the levels to which she lied about her bad decisions. Maybe Mary was a bitch but Edith was a coward. Now her karma has come back.

At 0:17 someone should have asked his lordship why he was being such an idiot, and that it's about time he grew up.

I love that everyone sings the praises of their own compassion for Mrs. Drewe and are understanding of Lady Edith’s struggles. But the moment Mr. Drewe grabs his wife to stop her you can see him struggling back tears. He so did not want this to happen to his wife or to the girl. He is so torn since he wants to have things remain the way they should’ve but he just can’t anymore.

I know it may be to a fault sometimes, but I love how forgiving and gracious Anna is with the people who caused her suffering, even unintentionally. You can see how angry John is at the situation, but he knows his wife is right.
