  • Focusing on the proactive and reactive aspects of the personality's protective system ("Managers" and "Firefighters") this video offers a variety of ways to work with them. The difference between a part's concern and its opinion is differentiated and the often central role of the "figuring it out" part is identified along with suggestions about how to invite it to work in greater alliance with the Self. This video ends with a clip featuring the poignant voice of a young exile.

This thing about the "figure out part" is so true. In many therapies it's just the therapist's and client's analyzing parts that talk to each other and guessing. Or forcing explanations on the client in worst case. I think this is one of the main benefits of IFS to be so clear about this trap! Also, I love your videos! I'm stopping almost every minute to take notes. :)

OK, so I was *not* ready for the little girl at the end. 🥺 that was powerful. These videos are really great. 👌

I loved gaining your insight into my truth....Thank you ! I'm finding my "Parts" and finally giving them the compassion they wanted so badly, so long ago. It's so amazing to discover your own beauty.! I'm learning to love every "Part" of who I am.. Just as God intend...Amen !!

The little girl berating herself at the end of the video was heart breaking. No wonder so many adults have issues that dog them for decades.

Nothing? Compassion can be overwhelmed by nothing at all ever? A part of me wonders... Even so, thank you.

So helpful this morning as I acknowledge my IFS helper part and I have other manager parts sending messages that I need to do better/more with IFS

This is wonderful! I keep wondering though - what happens when managers refuse to step away?

I’m dealing with the same thing. Especially when they show up and I’m at work. My job is fast paced, detail oriented and productivity based. I can’t ‘take a time out’ and talk my part down.
