As a houstonian myself, and a long time subscriber, I can only say that I have been waiting for this video for a long time.
LoL must be surreal seeing Mikey travelling in your home town and visiting the places that you have grown up eating or visited. Fun episode for you to watch that’s for sure.
@@SavannahVu1985 For sure
I feel like of the three cities, Houston is known for its food. The diversity of the city allows you so many options and hidden gems.
Exactly, you can basically get anything authentic in Houston in terms of food.
My boyfriend lives in Houston and eats different places every week and he says more than anything the food is amazing!
You passed right by my house going to the salt lick!
It’s a port city! Awesome variety!
Don't forget San Antonio. Amazing restaurants.
when you pass under the freeway on bellaire in chinatown, it stops being chinatown and turns into little saigon. its basically the neighborhood with biggest vietnamese population in the entire US
Second only to California's actual Little Saigon I think
You can’t help but to crave everything he eats
So jelly right now.
You can't even imagine what kind of long term damage such excessive quantity high fatty meat diet does to your body. No amount of fasting and exercise can reverse that.
I want to go on a good road trip with Mikey!!!
@@Bunts05 and yet he’s been doing this for years and still looks fit
$30 for all you can eat is pretty dang good!
"I'm on a no carb diet"
*Eats big bowl of noodles*
*Eats massive sub roll*
No carb left behind.
excuse me sir, pls don't confuse a sub with a baguette
@@afifsulaiman8597 My thoughts exactly.
It just means his diet is mostly consists of carbs not that he had to reduce it LMAO
@@afifsulaiman8597 It's a vietnamese roll, slightly different to a baguette
Houston's Chinatown is unmatched when it comes to Chinatowns in Texas. I grew up going to this area A LOT and I'm so happy you've discovered it
It’s the double flex of Texas. HEB and bucees
Watching this vid before my job interview tomorrow has helped calm my nerves
Where ya gonna work at?
Well good luck, sir!
Don’t sweat it, you got this!
@@digitalclown2008 a new role within my organisation. Same money but much better prospects to progress.
Good luck with your interview tomorrow!
That beef and bone marrow with the baguette looks like the best food of the day. I would eat that in a heartbeat.
we need a full houston food tour!! Lived here for so long and still need new recommendations!

Next time you're in Houston, you have to try "Pho Ve Dem" (open only at night) also on Bellaire. You can smell the broth/soup in the parking lot. "Pho Binh" is another good pho place 2nd to Ve Dem. "Bún Bò Huế Đức Chương Midnite" is a very good place that is not pho related.
Pho Ve Dem = Bad ass pho
2:50 The BBQ is so good the Doctor came to get some.
Wohoo! Another whovian😍
Exterminate all you can eat
Always wondered what he ate, now we know. 😃
I, too, was waiting for "The Doctor" to open the door. I was also going to mention the blue box; I'm glad I surfed through the comments. 😁
@@cj6281 oh my god me too .
I went to the salt lick a few weeks ago for graduation and vacation and it was amazing! The slaw was the best I ever had and I went about 3 rounds before I called it quits! Then afterwards we went to the outside picnic area to enjoy some live music and kick a ball around! Great time there.
I lived off Bellaire 32 years ago! The Vietnamese food back then was a beautiful thing! The Chinese food was a beautiful thing back then as well! I'm in Northern Michigan now, but get back to Houston as often as I can! 💜💜💜🤩
That's so awesome I live in houston currently
I have to go there at least every 2 months lol I eat so much 😅 I thank the heavens when my mom introduced me to our Chinatown as a little girl
It's an enjoyment to watch you eat. The BBQ was so tender and the noodles and bone marrow soup look superb. Don't ever stop making food videos.
My hometown Austin, love your content. As a Viet, Austin has ok Viet places, but Houston is where all the Viets go to chow down. Never been to the Salt lick and now its on list thanks to you, LOL.. 😊
Lol the tardis in the background 2:55 😂
Even "The Doctor" Eats at the Saltlick BBQ!!!!! >GRIN
Yes ! Someone noticed the TARDIS I was hoping they did, I didn’t want to scroll through thousands of comments, so glad this comment popped up early on.
Every Houstonian when he said Austin has the best food: GASP
He was saying Austin had better food compared to Dallas
Austin is awesome, or at least used to be before all the transplants, but food was not one of its strong points.
@@aliali-ce3yf the food truck festival is good though
@@CrustyPoptart its not bad, but any day of the week, houston has better variety and quality of food - and its almost always affordable
@@aliali-ce3yf for sure! I miss Houstons food. I live in Italy rn and I still miss the food back home
I was born in Houston, moved to Austin for college, and now live in Dallas. Houston has by FAR the best food scene of the three, partly because of the fact that it’s a big port city. It has probably the best Vietnamese in the country and also has unbelievable Chinese, Japanese, Indian, middle eastern, Greek, Cajun, and (obviously) Mexican.
If you want BBQ, Austin is where you go. Austin has a bunch of other really good restaurants, but it’s just not big enough compared to the other two cities to compare overall.
Dallas has an amazing Thai scene-no idea why. It doesn’t have much that stands out to me in general other than that, but I’d say it has better food than Austin overall (besides BBQ) just because of the difference in size and diversity.
For the first time since I subscribed you're actually eating food I have access to! There's so much great food in Houston!
I watch a lot of ur videos and wanted to say i really enjoy them and want to thank you for making them !!!
Ah the bbq was so good that Doctor who parked the tardis to eat there"
Caught that too.
Omg same i got giddy seeing the Tardis
You can always tell when Mikey REALLY likes it!!! You go Mikey!!!
Wow, this brings back memories. I remember going to salt lick after every finals season. ❤️
Every girl deserves to be loved like Mikey loves that bread🥰
The bone marrow, noodle, bread thing looked intense. I was straight up drooling!
Idea for a Texas themed t-Shirt:
„We get it… you smoke meat.“
Where has this been all my life. I can’t believe how much you are able to eat. Thanks for bringing us along.
*The sound from my stomach is louder than the asmr sound lol* 🖤💗
"but my diet" and he just eat ice cream 😂😂😂
Salt Lick smokes the meat prior to throwing it in that display pit. The display pit is for show and caramelization, as well as a fast serving method.
The smoke and cool it down. Their meats are in the fridge overnight
Thank you for sharing the different types of food located in Texas I will be there next week❤
“The most Texas thing ever I’m following behind a smoker” As a Texan this is so normal
Everything you had looked so delicious but I have to say the most satisfying was the sound of the crunch on that baguette, Omg😳 amazing👍👍👍
Pho 54 (or Pho Ga Dong Nai) is legendary! Brenda knows what's up.
Welcome to Houston!!!
Finally I can get some good recommended food from my favorite youtuber and I can just drive and get the food! xD
Amazing I have missed these notifications great work mikey ❤❤❤
Lol I love you're comment about Bellaire, and it's exactly why I told you to move to Houston instead of Dallas
Me getting so excited to see this video since I live in Houston 👀👀😀
Every time I watch Mike Chen it’s like I’m having a chat with a very good friend!
Vietnamese noodles AND Texas BBQ together? Sounds like heaven to me!
That’s how I feel when driving thru Bellaire blvd 😂 also don’t forget to eat as much Latin foods as you can in Houston
cool backstory about salt lick, the mom of the owner is japanese! woo hoo
thats the mudda multi-cultural
We need Mikey on JK News and the both of you to travel to Japan for a food adventure.
Cool fact the bbq isn’t actually cooked on that pit
Most Japanese think they are white ......
One of those creepy fetish marriages?
I very much like and greatly appreciate when you show the menu, it provide more details on what your're eating, I enjoy knowing that, and the prices, so I can get a better feel of the place. I love your videos! Thank you so very much!
Oh dear lord, look at that fireplace with everything cooking.
"Bow down to it and kiss its ring"
Bro please don't shout that outloud in england lol!!!!!😂🤣😅😂🤣😅
Maybe english people would like to have their ring kissed ;)
@@aurelieceaux2883 I’ll kiss your ring

By a long shot. Mike not only shows interesting food, but he's an interesting guy as well.
Salt Lick (the Driftwood location you went to) is single-handedly the thing I miss the most about Texas.
Tbh it's very average bbq. Everything was dry when I went.
@@pnourani Really!?!?! I've been many times, it's never been dry, and while I haven't gone to Franklin's or La Barbecue, I've been to a lot of other classics around Texas (Louie Mueller's, Black's, Pecan Lodge) and had better food at Salt Lick.
Man crazy you're eating all over the world and this was right in my backyard! You make the world feel small! ❤👌🏼
You know it's an Asian plaza when you see a Mercedes Benz E500 as a patrol car! ;) @10:11
Squee, there’s a TARDIS to go along with Mikey! He needs to hop into it & go on even more adventures! 🤣
That baguette dipping in the broth, food heaven.
I always watch your videos while I'm eating so I don't get super hungry haha!
When you come to Houston, you have to get certain food
Pho from Pho Sapa, Pho Duy, or Pho Duy
Banh mi from Nguyen Ngo
Bun bo Hue from Duc Huong
Bun mam from Bun Mam Mien Tay
Banh cuon from Banh Cuon Hoa
Dim sum from Kim Son Fountain Lakes location
Ramen from Tiger Den
Japanese bar food from Toukei
Green Tea Special from J Tea with Banh Trang Trong
LOVE jtea
You forgot Pho Ben on Highway 6 in Sugarland
dont forget pho binh/pho binh by night
fungs kitchen dim sum/dinner (currently closed for now)
hong kong food street (currently closed for now)
king bakery
handam kbbq
@@michelledorris2791 I live out in Katy, so our local Pho spot is Pho Saigon. There's a lot of good spots all over town, but if you go to Bellaire, these are the places the Vietnamese diaspora all go to
@@Blazinasian210 for kbbq, we normally go to the ones in Koreatown off of Gessner across from Memorial City Mall. Lots of great Korean places there
Tin Roof Barbecue in Humble (east of IAH) was where we used to go when we lived in that area. Great ribs and a nice place to eat as well.
Mikey walks right by a TARDIS and doesn't blink.
wish he would've done more buc-ees content. that genuinely seems like an awesome place and i feel like he barely scratched the surface
did you see his other video for bucees specifically?
Love the vids very calming after a hard day appreciate you
You always make me smile
I grew up in Houston and currently stationed in Italy, it was so refreshing to see the Houston skyline!!
EXCITING TO WATCH VIDEO, ALL THE FOOD REALLY LOOKS SO GOOD, THANKS FOR SHARING KEEP UP THE AWESOME JOB
I went there last week, and I really Love it their briskit yummy
We just arrived in Houston ourselves! We're definitely going to check out the pho place!
Pho Dien is pretty good too!
The three top places from Vietnamese people for pho is Pho Sapa, Pho Duy, and Pho Dien. They all taste a little different. Pho Duy used to have the best smell, but they changed cooks. Pho Sapa was amazing until recently. Pho Dien is good, but out of the three, least favorite meatballs
Go to Banh Mi Nguyen Ngo for the best banh mi sandwiches. It's been an institution for over 15+ years
For Dim Sum, go to Kim Son at Fountain Lakes in Sugarland/Stafford
For ramen, go to tiger den. Hidden spot for Japanese bar food would say Toukei
For Korean food, really like Soju Bar in Koreatown off Gessner close to Memorial City Mall
try pho saigon their banh mis are on another level (not traditional banh mi it’s elevated 😃)
I enjoy watching your videos😍
Please upload more often❤️
You know the food is good when Mikey eats it fast as lightening
Omg I’d love to go on a food tour with you one day Mikey 😍🤤 that Buc-ees gas station/ store is fantastic, that pastrami sandwich made my eyes light up 🤩
There’s a Buc-ees near the Texas Motor Speedway. I’ll have to see if they have the pastrami sandwich! 🤓😜
Craving for that food is an understatement 🤤
This looks great
Everything just looked so GOOD!! Why is it I click on your videos when I am starving!!?? 🤣
That pastrami sandwich would have put me into a food coma! The BBQ looked good. But that Pho and marrow soup! With the fresh bread! OMG! Almost pushed me over the edge! My piece of cheese is just not cutting it! 😢
Hey Mike,
If you're craving Vietnamese Sandwiches in Houston, I recommend Don's Cafe. You would have passed by it to get to Pho 54 on Bellaire. It's a cash only Vietnamese sandwich place, and the food is always great.
Houston for Viet/Chinese food, Dallas for Japanese/Korean! Austin is texmex haha
The beef rib is the crown jewel of the Salt Lick, try it next time!! It's excluded from the "all you can eat" and don't forget the entire table must do the family style all you can eat...great content!
Wow great selection of 2 different cuisines Texas BBQ and Vietnamese Pho and ending with Sugarcane Juice !!
Everything is delicious, woahhh how to sleep now 🤣
More Houston Vietnamese food please!
I love all the food choices in Houston! Great city❤
Another Awesome video..BBQ is one of my favorites..Looked so good and All You Can Eat is one of my favorite sayings ...lol...Take Care..
That rice flour baguette is what makes Houston Vietnamese food so good! I was never able to find it in New York, Boston or Philly. I even flew to Hanoi one time and their banh mi is nowhere near Houston's! Try Les Givrals in midtown!
did you...did you slander *banh mi?* you *dare?* /j
Nguyen Ngo is definitely the best banh mi place in all of Houston
You should do HEB or Central Market next
Enjoyed it As Usual. Also watched View and Chew!!! Loved it!!!!!!
Eating ribs outdoors underneath some trees is an excellent lunch.
Heya Mikey, out of curiosity.... When you hear a love song, does it make you think of a girl, or food?
Food, for sure
Brenda or Jessie...
Probably food - more satisfying
Honestly, I think we have come to an Era where food and freedom to do what you want are way more desirable than a partner or spouse. Love dies once a relationship is confirmed but the pastrami sandwich and BBQ pieces will be equally good even after 10 years.
I LOVE Salt Lick’s cole slaw. I don’t mind mayonnaise slaw, but the vinegar and sesame seeds in their slaw is absolutely delicious.
Just returned from Houston past Saturday. Such a great place to visit and stay!
Thank you for the video!
Been waiting for you Mikey!!!!
My man went to Dallas and thought they had better Asian food than Houston. Check out Houston in depth and the night market you’ll be impressed and want to move down here!
Dallas has better Korean food. Houston has better Chinese and Vietnamese.
Finally you’re in Houston I was waiting for the day youd visit
This comment section is so wholesome food is where the heart is I guess!
Love Barbecue but I never had all you can eat Barbecue and it look so delicious 🤤 I want some so bad
When you come back to Houston and want the best chicken and waffles you have to go to breakfast club. Another favorite of mine is la lucha. They have an amazing chicken and waffles as well as the best burger!!!
12 pm german time atm… came home from work …. So let’s grab a beer and watch this
The original Salt Lick is Barbecue in a category by itself. It is genuine Texas Barbecue and it is different from all the others. It is still my favorite!
Chen: “ But my diet!” After ordering a crunchy oh so good warm baguette to dip in the beef soup, and got satisfied!! 😋. Me: “What diet??” 😉😝🤣
Is that the freaking TARDIS??? The Doctor must really love that all you can eat BBQ place
Doctor? Doctor who?
I love how you say you are trying to cut carbs and then eat the noodles and then dip that warm crusty bread in the broth. It made me want to do the same thing, lol
2:55 the famous bigger on the inside phone box??!!! RUN, MIKEY, RUN, FOR YOUR SAFE, OUT OF THAT PLACE, OUT OF THAT STATE, RUN!!
