There are a lot of things that you should consider in getting your ultimate EDC. Two of these are sustainability and functionality. Although not all bags fall under these two categories, we're certain that the Pakt Everyday Backpack 22L is one of those that do.
SUSTAINABILITY: This 22-liter pack is made with a premium 500D recycled nylon exterior, 70D light grey recycled nylon interior, and PFC-free durable water-resistant coating.
FUNCTIONALITY: It has a quick-access front pocket, a half-admin compartment, a minimalist main compartment, and a tech compartment. There is also a hidden AirTag or Tile tracker pocket and a daisy chain system for Clip-in Pouches.
What we love about this pack is how you can use it for work. Its admin and tech compartments are enough to store all your work essentials while still having enough space to bring more stuff in its main compartment. This pack is too slim that it feels like it's an 18- to 20-liter pack, instead of 22. What do you think?

I've had this bag a few months and I really don't like it very much. I actually wrote a user review on the Pakt website as to why I was disappointed with it but they didn't publish it, so here it is so it doesn't go to waste:
"Okay so I've had this bag a couple of months now and I’ve got to say I'm fairly disappointed in it, especially for the price.
The bag does look good, and it feels like they had some nice ideas, but that they just don’t work in practice. My big overall gripe is that the bag slows me down and is not easy to use, plus gives me concerns for the safety of my laptop when packed. For me the best bags make my life more efficient and easier, but for the most part this bag does the opposite. It always feels like the bag is working against me instead of for me. Here’s some reasons why:
Not only does the bag not stand up on its own, it's very hard to even lean against anything to stand it up. It's pretty annoying when you're trying to pack it or trying to rest it against a table in a restaurant. Even when I wedge this bag upright between a table and chair to pack it, it still has a tendency to slip away under the table. The bag being hard to stabilise makes it more difficult to use the rest of the bag’s functions too. Every time I use this bag I need to use two hands to steady it when trying to do almost anything.
    2. The bag puts a worrying about of pressure on the laptop when it’s packed. It’s designed in a way where as soon as you fill the bag, it becomes very difficult to remove a laptop or tablet from the dedicated compartment. But also, and more concerning, is that it’s engineered in way that all the packed weight presses very hard against the middle of the laptop. So much that I now won’t consider packing this bag out for any weekend trips if my laptop or tablet is coming with me - I worry too much about screen damage. I have a $100 North Face bag from ten years ago that is able to evenly distribute the weight without putting any undue pressure on the laptop, so I don’t know why it’s a problem on a modern $250 bag.
    3. The water bottle pockets are hard to use and fit anything inside. It feels like Pakt have tried to please the people who don’t like the look of water bottle pockets, but I think they should have just focused on people who do like them, because they’ve made some half-way measure here that doesn’t work well. You need to carefully use two hands to insert the water bottle while trying to stabilise the bag and taking care that the magnet doesn’t snap shut on you. It’s not simple or easy, and it’s unnecessarily time consuming. Also the water bottle pockets are small, and they are angled in such a way that tall bottles point out diagonally from either side, which doesn’t look good.
    4. I know the zips are YKK but they don't feel good quality, they constantly stick and are not easy to open, especially the front compartment which is very hard to open or close fully due to the tight overhanging lip. It’s a two hand job and requires some wiggling around every time, again while trying to stop the bag falling over. The zipper pulls really get in the way too, you constantly have to move overhanging zipper pulls out of the way that obstruct you from closing a different compartment.
The zipper pulls also feel cheap, The texture is abrasive and doesn’t exude quality. I know it sounds like a tiny thing, but you touch them all the time when you use the bag, and I’m constantly reminded how much I paid for the bag yet how cheap some of it feels.

    5. The straps are stiff and they don’t break in over time. They just don’t feel very premium, but they would be fine if it wasn’t for my other gripes with the bag. The material of the bag feels fine. It attracts lint like a magnet but it feels sturdy enough.

If I’d have paid $100 for this bag, I think I’d likely have been fairly satisfied for what I got, but for a retail price of $250, I really don’t think it is worth such a high price point. I’m willing to pay a lot for a bag that is engineered well with premium materials and makes my life easier, but for me this isn’t it. Especially when one of the main reasons I got this bag was for weekend work travel, but with the stress it puts on the laptop and tablet, I now won’t use it for that. This is now a light EDC coffee shop bag for me, used to take my laptop and headphones somewhere when I don’t need to pack much else."

I couldn't be further from this brand's target audience, but I still have thoughts. :)
This bag is hyper casual in an unrelenting kind of way. If you never have to wear anything except t-shirts and flip flops, I think the style is kinda neat...I checked to see if the bag was manufactured in the US (and therefore possibly explaining the price point) and it is not...I think the rest of my commentary can be summed up by asking what constitutes an everyday backpack and wondering why some of the citified preferences.- e.g. "true" quick access, the ability to self stand, some nod to urban style - were omitted.
As always, thanks for the content.

@@Nomads.Nation My question was more of a rhetorical "hmm" for Pakt. :) I basically was wondering why an everyday bag at this price point wouldn't aim to be a bit more inclusive of the current urban (citified") commute & carry folks' preferences.

      @Nomads.Nation  2 месяца назад

@@ratheruninspired ah got it, I think that (in Pakt's defense) that there is already a handful of brands making premium "citified" style bags, so they are trying to bring something different to the table... which I think looks great! Just tough to rationalize at its price point

Both this backpack and their EDC 15L are priced too high in their lineup. IMO, take about $75 or so off each of their prices and they would be worth about that. I have the 15L, and do find it is a bit tight times-then again it is supposed to be a cross between a sling and a backpacks. All this 22L looks like is a marginal upgrade, that also may not hit the mark for what it could or should be. If I want to hit the 22L mark (or something in that range)-quite truly right now I am eagerly awaiting your Fyro!

With the bold white lettering, if it was placed in a more discreet spot like on the top under the grab handle or in the center of the bottom of the bag so it wasn’t so in your face. This pack is more like a 18L. But in this video this backpack is way to overpacked as you can see when you open the laptop compartment. I knew this would not work on a luggage pass through before you got to that part but it was good to show the audience this important point. But yes definitely overpriced. Keep up the good work. Cheers.

Also felt like the review was a bit compromised because it’s in a competing liter capacity.
When you said that a grey interior can get dirty even though it’s a better color choice than a dark lining.
The way the luggage passthrough was being demoed, no one puts it on that way… with your hand going through the passthrough first.
The way you shoved the book away saying it won’t fit.
The way you didn’t try to swivel the backpack around to attempt to get the key out of that semi quick-access pocket (you do the same in your short, even though there too one risks dropping stuff from the hatch.
It was a bit compromised, but maybe I’m biased, because just like the commenter above, I felt you were being pushy.
Also, I feel like you’re getting a better appreciation for certain aspects of building a bag. And so you appreciate certain fabrics and materials better (calling the external fabric a hair magnet, but calling the interior material nice).
I’m looking forward to your bag. But I feel that almost any bag that will be in the same capacity as your bag, you’ll unconsciously compare it to Fyro..
Props for not suggesting Fyro as an alternative. That would have earned an eye roll from me :-D

Seriously appreciate your feedback and support for so long! It's tough to draw a line between self-promotion and providing value, and it's a relationship we are always cautious of. Having said that, one of the unique selling points of our brand is our top-notch newsletter, and the fact that we are building a backpack and showing a deeper behind the scenes look (also via our newsletter). And the response is insane - normally email open rates are around 40%, but ours are as high as 70%! This is because the value we provide in our emails is super high quality, and I'm really fucking proud of them to be frank. If I were pushing Fyro sales in every video I TOTALLY would get where you are coming from (and yes, I know that getting people on our email list will end up resulting in sales) but at the end of the day this plug is just advertising all the content that we offer, and I don't want anyone to miss out. In fact, our goal at NN is to build the world's greatest eco-system for the Carry Community. We are doing this with our YT reviews, world-class newsletter, NN Marketplace, Gear for the Girls channel, and a bunch more initiatives we have lined up. And the best way to get word out to these things to people know they exist is by showing them in our YT videos (because they are evergreen and keep getting views for years to come). Sorry for the long response haha but I do want to clarify our thought process here. Like I said, if we start trying to sell Fyro bags in every review that would be crossing a line. But in my opinion, this is just how a media business works in 2024 - you gotta cross-promote the ecoystem of value otherwise no one will no it exists. Happy to chat about this more if you have any other takes!

Been a subscriber for just as long. The guy's worked really hard on this project; let him try to reach as many people as possible. It's only a few seconds of your time, after all.
Never once got the impression he was reviewing a bag unfairly, during this entire run up to kick-off.

@@marianthelibrarian2274 that has nothing to do with every video pushing his bag. As you can see many people agree with my comment.

You know, about a year ago, before I followed Nomad Nation, I was looking for a regular looking backpack...
    Now, not so much.

I don’t know what is the exceptional thing that makes this worth 250$ I can pay $50 and buy peak design every day backpack 😮 because I’m pretty sure peak design every day backpack uses every premium component to make it worth 299$, but this one ! Im sorry its normal high school backpack

It’s definitely a more casual vibe which I do like, but the value is tough

Pakt is too big of a logo, but it’s a cute name.

yes , the pakt logo is too much! I could handle a letter P or simple logo. they previously did not have it. Lucky I bought the older generation 5L sling just in time before the unnecessary update!! On their updated 5L sling it is BANG on in the middle!!! 2 thumbs down!!
