The worst part is looking at the trunk of the tree. It is so healthy meaning that this tree was meant to live another few hundred years.
yeah so lively even after cut down 😢😭
Do you think someway they can save it? I don’t think they can but I think they will try.
@@sebastiansimpson596Possible, but hard to tell at this point.
There would probably be multiple sprouts, all but one would be cut away to focus the resources,
and you would get a smaller, less impressive, perhaps off-center but otherwise healthy regrowth. Or you just don't touch it and let all sprouts grow to mediocre size.
They might also attempt to graft more sycamore on it if the stump doesn't sprout, or regardless.
So it's not hopeless, nobody poisoned it or anything.
But the landmark is over.

A college student in America poisoned a rival football team’s town oak tree. It was 80+ years old and the guy who did it was ordered to serve at least six months in jail, spend five years on supervised probation and ordered to pay $800,000 in restitution. Destroying history and nature is a gross reflection of character.
History must be destroyed if we are to change society into our utopia.
Well said❤💚🌳
Yeah normal person wouldn't do it. Clearly some personality disorder
As someone who has grown numerous trees from seed, I can just imagine what this tree endured to reach this ripe old age. Losing this tree is worse than having an arm severed, that can be reattached. Thankfully it will send out new shoots, it will just take a while to reach its current height. In South Africa thousands of Cedar trees were cut down in the Cederberg in the 1800s... to make telephone poles, furniture etc.!
As someone who has seen or tree two I can only imagine that trees ancestors looking down upon their lil sapling welcoming it to the pearly gates.

I know that many people will say "its just a tree who cares", well the tree was 300 years old and was quite an iconic landmark. Landmarks like these are historical sights that tell stories and history and culture. 300 years ago India wasnt a part of the British Empire, Germany was still the Holy Roman Empire, The ottoman turks had control over the entire middle east, America was barely colonized and still a british colony at that time. A man in his 60s has been arrested by police investigating the cutting-down of the world-famous Sycamore Gap tree in Northumberland.
The landmark, beside Hadrian's Wall, was cut down overnight on Wednesday.
Northumbria Police said the man was arrested on Friday evening and remains in custody assisting with inquiries

@@indymaximus1566 it’s exactly that loony liberal attitude that’s got the country in the state its in now.
My heart aches at this, people can be so cruel😢😢😢
literally been crying all day, i remember seeing the tree and now its gone forever, i hate whoever did it.
Me too
They should keep the kid in jail for 300 years like that tree was and then when he’s “a bit older” consider letting him out if he’s even still alive

The question is not what world do we leave to our children , the question is what children do we leave to our world 😢
Wow, this is a fantastic quote
This is what happens when you let the tablet/phone/tv raise the child instead of flesh and blood parents.
Cutting down that tree shows a serious lack of empathy from the boy.
Empathy is learnt by interacting with parents and people his age. Technology cannot provide that.
Unfortunately these kids are an unprecedented sort of tablet and computer game obsessed drones who can't remember information so they rely on their devices.
I live in Minnesota, I knew this tree immediately and it broke my heart to see it like this
hello fellow minnesotan
300-year-old tree, 300-year penalty in jail. That's a direct attack on the country's culture and identity, meant to demoralize and diminish the identity of the nation.
All the Dakota Minnesota have been cutted by waspy timberKKK redneck
Based on the cut, you can tell whoever did it had decent knowledge on how to cut a tree down but not very experienced to make a horizontal cut.
With so few large and old trees left in that land it really isn’t “just a tree” it’s a piece of history that preceded all of us currently living today
Symbolic of the state of the UK's culture.
How so?
Your winging about a stupid tree is symbolic of the state of the UK's culture.

It’s England. Absolutely *nothing* will be done to this evil kid.
A normal kid would certainly want to climb it, not cut it. I remember climbing mango trees back in my childhood and freaking out after seeing a colorful spider, which didn't seem harmless.
May I suggest a brief resumption of the stocks?
😂 Going to start letting some vegetables go bad, just in case?
We could make a set out of the tree
Brief? I'd leave them in them to rot
Corporations destroy thousands of trees yearly while lining the pockets of politicians. A regular person cuts down a tree: arrested.
One rule for them another for us.
Its a symbol of culture. Mentally ill like yourselves cannot understand this.
exactly :)
Little sociopath. I hope they lock him up.
😢 That boy capable of doing this ? ‼️He's capable of killing an human as well .. 15 years prison mandatory with no possibility of ever being paroled.
😡🤬
Sodium polyacrylate... put a layer of this between the cuts, scaffold support it up as soon as possible and the capillary needed by the tree could be reinstated via the SPA membrane between the cuts, seal the edges, and pump (at the natural pressure nutrients/water directly into the cut area around the seal, plants can repair you just have to be quick!
Lol
That sounds expensive if it is possible.
Only possible in early spring alas
@@andrewholling4878 Hi-pressure sodium and Metal halide lamps making the correct springtime spectrum and the whole area sprinkled with nutrient-rich warm water. if i can make spring i am sure national trust could!
nice idea, but wouldnt work for a multi-tonne tree, in an area with famously high winds ...
What is with people who need to destroy these kinds of things? Like there needs to be harsher punishments, because it seems like even teenagers these days aren't afraid of jail time and fines.
There was a place i used to go where there was this big tree that was cut down, leaving the base there. Despite being cut down, it was still alive and the roots sprawled new saplings and is starting to grow.
Maybe this is what will happen to this as well? Sure it's not the same but if it could still be taken care of, it could grow again. Those big trees are tough and it will survive.
You made the point as to why they should throw the book at him. It will never be as big or beautiful again.
Oh no, I so wanted to visit that Iconic place since I was a child. First saw it in Robin Hood with Kevin Costner.
Dude, that cut is so clean and perfect....why did he do it?😮
internet clout but i think the perpetrator realized early on it was a bad idea to post on the internet.
The media won't report it was to protest climate change.
@@musya2508 Yeah, and yet he did not think it was bad to cut the tree down in general? Their logic, lol

How does a sixteen year old do this on their own? That poor tree. I'm not even from that country and I'm incredibly angry.
Because chainsaws exist
A. he didn’t know this tree was a landmark and wanted to try cutting one and it happens to be this one. B. He has an evil and wanted to destroy this tree for attention by angering everyone.
@@adaptablerubenvideos3097 Cutting a tree in public or private land that doesn't belong to you is a crime if you lack appropriate permissions. The fact that it was a heritage tree only makes it worse.

An absolutely senseless act. If my kid did something like this they'd spend a lifetime making amends.

This can be a religious action in a religious conflict. What religion do the boy have?
What a beautiful tree! 😢
This boy knew the significance of this tree and still cut it down. Either he has no guidance at home or he's mentally ill. Shame.
I am from Italy and this made me cry❤
I love how the one person who said something in the video is like “it’s all about us humans” basically.
NO it’s about an ancient tree!!! The tree had tremendous energy after 300 years. It’s not about us and what we did there. It’s about the age of the tree. It’s like slaughtering a 300 year old tortoise. You just don’t do that!! Ancient beings who can still live deserve to live.
