      Russ's PARENTS don't like Russ....
Seattle players AND Coaches didn't care for him for years- ask Marshawn, Chancellor, Locket and Sherman not to mention Pete Carroll - a PLAYERS coach. Last year in Denver, he didn't interact with his players at all, and Melvin Gordon and the receivers didn't like him seperating himself from the team .Payton knows that he isn't the leader he needs for his team. Is this a harsh way to move on? Definitely. But absolutely the right move.

Then he 1) drove Drew Brees to permanent disability - even though Teddy Bridgewater led them to a 5-0 record with Brees on the bench, and brought him back too soon, and 2) called out Nathaniel Hackett with 'the worst coaching job I've ever seen', then, while the Broncos had righted the ship, gave him such rudimentary play calling (backwards WR screens? consistent RB screens?) that it was obvious that WalMart (with the advice of Condaleeza Rice) looked at the performance of the holding company rather than the acquisition - and used Russell Wilson as a scapegoat

Watch Kurt Warners tape breakdown on Russell Wilson.
Watch Lamar Jackson work the pocket.
I hadn’t watched him play for over a year, I was shocked to see the improvement he showed in the pocket.
People don’t realize how many times a sack is the QB’s fault.
Wilson’s o-line wouldn’t even help him up anymore (that says all people need to know), and the receivers are tired of running routs knowing there not getting the ball, in certain parts of the field.
Russ made his laundry (let Russ cook) public in Seattle and forced the owners to pick him or Pete. And he chose to make his contract in Denver public, why?
If your in the NFL long enough, everyone goes through talks like this. Russ needs to just be great full the contract happened when it did, or he wouldn’t be leaving with $124,000,000.00 in his pocket, over the next 7 years. There would have been a lot more performance clauses in it.
If Jackson’s pocket work against the 49rs isn’t an outlier, it will win them a Super Bowl.
Russ is a rollout QB and doesn’t has the pocket skills (at 42 Tom Brady worked all off season on his pocket skills, he said he wasn’t good enough), and because all 3 of his coaches told him to wear a wristband and he refuses (so maybe it is a football IQ problem too), and he hurts the team with this attitude. (My wife “just” said it best Lamar is on the team, Russ isn’t).
He doesn’t change this attitude, he will soon be out of the NFL. If he plays for another team, they need to put a clause in it: he will wear a wristband when told to.

Whoever said Payton doesn’t like Russ, was spot on. You don’t berate someone like Payton has berated Russ like he has. It’s obvious. Payton was brought here to turn Wilson around. It wasn’t supposed to be about Sean Payton but it is. He’s made it that way. If you have a personality conflict with someone, quit, leave. Take the high road. Payton is making himself look like an idiot crybaby. If he had spent a couple of days with Russ it could have been much different. It didn’t have to end like this. Nobody likes egg on their face, especially Sean Super Coach. I watched the first clip of him getting acquainted with some guys and I had a personality conflict with Sean in the first 2 minutes. First hand, OK? I owned a business in Seattle some years ago and I apparently treated an employee the same way Sean treats Russ. I had a manager who ran the place in my absence. He approached me one day and shared his experience of the way I treated this guy. He apologized for bringing it up but I told him to feel free to speak his truth. He didn’t pull any punches. He basically asked me why I didn’t fire the guy. I had to think about it for a few minutes, but I knew he was right. So I did…

He misses wide open receivers, he chooses to leave the pocket when his protection is good, he fumbles at the worst times in games, and will immediately check it down instead of giving his receivers a chance to get open. Don’t look at the stats because it doesn’t give the whole truth. Say what you will about SP, he appears to be an egotistical tyrant but he’s had success with bottom of the barrel QBs like Teddy Bridgewater. If you’re constantly having to dumb down your play calls so the QB can execute, then the QB is not worth the money he’s making. When your back up puts up the same numbers as you did on average throughout the season, you’re not worth a $245mil contract nor the trade capital that was forked over the bring him here.

Teddy, I don't think Wilson audibled out of plays to have 4 yards passing attempts so freaking low for NFL standards. That was Payton playcalling trying to make Wilson look like s...t. But he couldn't bc Wilson is so good. So now instead of cutting a crappy performing QB they are cutting a great QB. Payton is like Parcells Belichek where it's my way or the highway coach who is a dinosaur today. Today HCs especially all of the ones in the playoffs dont have a system that players have to conform to or hit the highway. These HCs make system and playcalling around the strength of the players and Payton can't do that. I am hoping that Wilson goes to the Steelers where Pomlin is one of the best at this and Rolithberger is a lot like Wilson in that he extended plays. Even sweeter depending on who the HC is would be Raiders so Wilson can play Broncos twice a year and point directly at Payton after whupping their butts! That would be great!

Dude said "they are not asking Russ to waive his guarantee, they are asking him to push it back".
Dude, that IS waiving your guarantee. If I'm promised the 1st and you ask me to push it to the 5th, my guarantee of the first is waived

Wilson hasnt been playing up to $35m a season standards. So, he doesnt have the talent surrounding him, well, this is because his high contract demands are actually gurting the team. Restructure and invest in the team, not one player Wilson. Brady did this in order to pay his WRs and Oline.
Payton is doing thw right thing. This offseason will be interesting: does Wilson restructure and if so does Payton stick with him? Or does he restructure then trade him and chase a rookie QB or Free Agent, or trade for a guy like Jake Browning? Whatever happens, its enticing. I like it!

I've never heard Randy Moss speak for that long of a period of time. If you close your eyes, he sounds like he should be casted in the Dukes of Hazard or Moonshiners.

The fault lies in the GM, George Paton. Not necessarily for trading so much draft capital to Seattle, but for signing that ridiculous contract extension. I do not blame Wilson at all for declining to restructure. It is his decision. It was just poor football business on the part of Denver.
Basically, this should never have happened. Ownership should fire George Paton and bring in someone who can make smart, pragmatic decisions as a GM. We'll certainly need it with 6 total picks in the upcoming draft (2 in the first two days).
If there is anything to blame Wilson for, it is making poor play changes at the line at times, as well as not securing the ball when said play goes south. Sure, his numbers are good for the most part. But, look at the stats where it matters: the red zone, opening drives, second half statistics. Sure, the comebacks or almost comebacks are fun, but are not conducive to consistent winning. This team simply cannot score as-is. And the O-line play has been pretty solid.
Two things I do agree with the player panel on: (1) Sean Payton never really liked Wilson (2) Tedy Bruschi is a terrible analyst (not stated by them, but come on, man, look at the tape on that slouch)

Contract is a contract. Honor it or pay to have it changed. As for his record, Russ does not play defence, he has to follow the coach’s lame plays.
