This album came out while I was in rehab in early recovery. Its release was serendipitous with my life situation at the time. Mer De Noms is also a great album.
Josh Freese is a beast…played with/in The Vandals, GNR, NIN, Weezer, APC etc.. That man doesn’t have to worry about filling shoes, he already owns them
Richard has talked about his girl several times but I haven't heard judson mention a significant other. I don't see a ring... Im hoping maybe this means he is single?? ❤ bc i don't live very far from the south.. 😊
Good call on that bass tone being very Tool adjacent! As a pianist, I think Judson would find APC's recent song Disillusioned an interesting listen. The piano isn't a main element throughout the song, but where it used is quite intimate and beautiful.
this song was first interpreted by me as a song of unrequited love, and in '03 I quit a 3 year xanax addiction cold turkey and realized the real meaning during my weeks long struggle with sobriety. Someone feed the monkey while I Dig in search of China White as Dracula as I approach the bottom.....pure genius
Josh Freese is the shit. Billy writes the songs as they were soundtracks. Then MJK joins in by writing lyrics and sing them. The songs never get old to my ears.
I'm older and never really appreciated Linkin Park in the past but right before Chester's passing I started to really feel the music on another level. Such a sad ending to a promising life. Everyone's journey is different and I'll hold on to faith that we'll all be okay
This album is INCREDIBLE! I would suggest branching out to the album Mer de Noms (the one where 3 libras is from) and doing maybe "The Hollow" or "Judith" to start it off. This band is just absolutely incredible...can't explain it any other way. (13th step has many more that you should check out as well, not saying that you should stop here haha. so many amazing songs on there!)
Hits home. I never gave this song a twist. I took it at face value even in addiction. I think one critic tried to lambast APC and called them a good 80’s rock band or something and they took it as a compliment. Spot me bro! One of the Linkin Park front men did some hip hop stuff that was original.
It is so spot on from Judson about "floating space" etc. A Perfect Circle and this album.. It always been so atmospheric saturated for me, since mid 2000s around '05-06 when I heard them for a first time with this song. And I still love this track. Another their work which stuck into my mind for all these years is "Annihilation". Whole minimalistic atmosphere of "Annihilation" is incredible. P.s. Also it was surprising for me but I totally agree with Judson about LP, hehe. But A Perfect Circle for always perfect for me. And Tool with A Perfect Circle always had such similar vibes for me, in terms of harmonics and saturation structure, atmosphere.
If you haven't, I'm actually very surprised you guys haven't done "Judith". Their entire catalog is fantastic, but Judith is iconic. A Perfect Circle is basically a power ensemble of players from various "parent bands."
@Greatmeasures @Greatmeasures nice. That whole album, they worked more with a piano then i ever remember them do previously. Other piano songs I'd love to see your guys reaction to "Pale Clouded White" "Sea Swallow Me" Cocteau Twins. "Never Let Me Down" "Stripped" by Depeche Mode. "Alvin Row" by Animal Collective. "Travelling Through a Sea" "Poison Tree" by Grouper. And even though it's keyboard, "The World's A Mess; It's In My Kiss" by X. You got a new sub! Thanks for the reply and content
Ravenous by Arch Enemy? I havent listened to them in a while but I thought about them when you guys mentioned that word. Saw them live in CGY 15 or so years ago. They put on a great show.
It's interesting, I don't have much drug use experience, so I never even knew these were drug references. And just weird till you hear Angela Gossow scream "Ravenous!"
1st this song came out during a major life chamging moment, been rough since then, we remain Strong, but still feeling a bit Powerless (to some things)...More importantly, Yall got to talking about the Music of the song, and I remembered the Steve Vai "For the Love of God", then I remembered Oandora playing me Bucket Head's "Liquid Mantis"... think Yall would Enjoy it.
I never take drugs in my life and i still love that songs ! It's a great song ! However it's might not be a song stimulating and changeling enough for a true musician who could it find boring and repetitive. It's still find a rhythm who let the angst and the mean out.

Cuz I’m struggling with fentanyl addiction right now and I’m down to just 2-3 of them a day and can’t fucking get through it and it’s been years now and it’s killing me and I’m a metal musician. @ZolFox Sundown M Ranch in Washington state is one of the top treatment centers in the country. I've been struggling with a Heroin addiction and went there recently and it helped alot. It's called a super group!! NIN drummer, tool guitar tech lead, smashing pumpkins rhythm guitar, marilyn manson bass guitar, and Maynard!!!
I fell asleep to this album every night for months. It definitely holds a special place for me. This and Blue are my absolute favorite APC songs.
This album came out while I was in rehab in early recovery. Its release was serendipitous with my life situation at the time. Mer De Noms is also a great album.

Also The Offspring and possibly foremostly... Sting! 😜
Don’t forget Devo. Really
This entire album is 🔥🔥🔥
At this point I'm so confident in your music taste that I look at these videos to see what bands I should check out.
Gravity is another one of my favorites from this album. Both very powerful.
Phew.. Judson’s lookin smokin t’day, sobriety really agrees with him🥵
I was going to say the same lol
I swear to goooood, Richard aint half bad either
It always catches me off-guard how attractive both these men are. Their partners are lucky! :)

It’s good to see you guys on this side of addiction where you can feel comfortable enough to open up about it and reflect on it through a clean mirror
I think Billy Howerdel was a guitar tech for Tool, if that counts 🤷♂️
Correct
And did some sound engineering too as far as I know
I forgot how awesome this album is, thanks for reminding me! I'm gonna buy it again right now
this song was first interpreted by me as a song of unrequited love, and in '03 I quit a 3 year xanax addiction cold turkey and realized the real meaning during my weeks long struggle with sobriety.
Someone feed the monkey while I
Dig in search of China
White as Dracula as I approach the bottom.....pure genius
This album helped me a lot in a very dark time in my life.
This is a song I always return to listen to. I've never been through something this tough but I definately cannot hold back tears when I listen to it.
Great episode guys. Great discussion and most of all Great Measures!
I don’t know why but yalls channel is so inspiring. Gives me a good feeling. Loved the classical music to start out.
Opened with one of my favourites on the piano. Oh shit, gave me goosebumps.
From an addictions standpoint on APC songs...I think you need to do the Noose and Gravity. The album name speaks for itself for sure.
You gotta dive into Down!!
YES! PLEASE! SOOO many good songs!
Hell yeah! "LIFER"
James Iha also influences the sound coming from Smashing Pumpkins. I think you can hear those influences in A Perfect Circle as well.
This is one of my favorite bands and albums!!! I saw this band back in 2017 and they are amazing in concert!!!!!
"Cuz you're on dope" - Judson. Also Judson, 10 minutes later - "Cheesecake!"
great video as always. this whole album is so magnificant, never gets old.
one of my favorite songs by them and one of my favorites between you two.
Powerful song. I think this was my first time hearing it after getting clean almost 7 years ago. Much different song now.
Josh Freese is the shit.
Billy writes the songs as they were soundtracks. Then MJK joins in by writing lyrics and sing them. The songs never get old to my ears.
Billy was the guitar tech for Tool before A Perfect Circle
Also, NIN and Pumpkins among others. Dude is an underrated legend.
Love Billy Howerdells work. His album "Ashes Divide" is awesome.
Best team on youtube

Love this song. Love it's message. I feel your reaction on a real level.Love the Rainbow Tee.
MJK also said at an acoustic rendition of this could be a love song. However you want to see it.
Wow, the tone of those bass piano strings is unreal!!! Does anyone know who the manufacturer of the gentleman's piano is?

Great much-needed laughs today dudes, thanks. And send over some cheesecake!
I dare say i prefer A Perfect Circle to Tool. It may not have the highs of some Tool songs but it's more consistent.
Billy used to be Adam Jones guitar tech. I really love APC..nice one! They do a lot of songs about addiction, self reflection.

...Billy Howerdel was Adam Jones' guitar tech...
Any chance a review of Cradle of Filth, something like A Gothic Romance.. lyrically and musically fantastic (vocals are a problem for most)
Something from Her Ghost In The Fog would be awesome!
Thinking about electronic music: I wonder if Judson would like "Strobe" by deadmau5.
Don't forget about the other band that Maynard is in: Puscifer.
If you guys like reacting to Tool you would love Karnivool. And I recommend the song Deadman
🤔🤔🤔cool song
Its Paz on bass!!
It was Jeordie White (a.k.a. Twiggy Ramirez) on bass for 13th Step.
Bassist is Paz Lechantin
She left the band after the first album to go work with Billy Corgen. Jeordie White or aka Twiggy from Marlyn Manson did the bass for this album.
I thought the intro was Chopin's Funeral March
