Final Fantasy X Guide - How to be Overpowered! Part 4: Kilika & Luca

- Hello all, and welcome to part 4 of my Final Fantasy X Overpowered guide!
**THIS WALKTHROUGH CONTAINS SPOILERS THROUGHOUT**
I've recently seen a lot of people playing the Final Fantasy X Remastered release on Xbox One, and there are many people who play it without knowing the best techniques for efficiently grinding the end-game and getting the Dark Aeons and Penance.
Not only that, but it's a very fun game to be overpowered in, which is something I love doing in games.
In this episode we get the Jecht Shot skill by beating a minigame and this in turn help us to win a Strength Sphere, which is useful for Tidus. I'll be uploading separate videos showing how to win this game, and also how to win some fantastic prices early on by playing Blitzball in Luca.
It is important that you don't waste any S-levels with Kimahri. From his starting point on the grid, simply move round the circle going left (counter-clockwise) until you get to the level 1 Key Lock on the grid, then sit tight. We'll use the first two level 1 Key Spheres that we get to allow Kimahri to learn Steal and Use. This in turn later lets him go right to Holy and become outrageously powerful once we get to Macalania.
I have started a playthrough and will be doing some videos of things to watch out for along the way. This focuses on 3 early-game grinds to get way ahead on some skills and have a blast wrecking everything in your path! It also involves a fair bit of Blitzball in Luca, but that bit is sort of optional. This playthrough will be a Standard Grid playthrough because it lets you use Break HP Limit more effectively if that's the route you choose to go down. The Expert Grid has its own advantages, but isn't good for BHPL enthusiasts.
The key points for me are:
Get Haste before leaving Besaid
Grind Sinspawns on the S.S.Liki
Win the Luca Blitzball game to get a Strength sphere
Win a Blitzball League and tournament for a Teleport Sphere and Return Spheres.
Teach Yuna the -ara spells
Get Kimahri Holy by Macalania
Get MP Stroll armours for certain characters.

Quick thing, reading the descriptions for these videos is important as well as they contain important information. This is the first point that you'll have Kimahri available in terms of using the sphere grid; make sure to save his S-levels and follow the instructions and head straight to Steal and Use, then wait there to head to Holy.
I did a save file after arriving on Killika prior to touching anyone's grid post battle, Kimahri has 30 s Levels, just shy of 31, I can circle his outer (the northern arc) and inner grid with that and be placed right near the entry to Rikku's grid. Should I do that instead, or is it more of a must to have him ready to charge right into Rikku's grid, even though it will be a while before I can make a push for Holy anyhow?

I didn't get a chance to use it yet but I went into triple overtime with Wakka. Best game of blitzball I've had.
Thanks for your guides. Do you cover the sphere grid during the videos? i've been following along and got haste along with other overdrives. Also, did the grinding sections, but haven't really messed with sphere grid besides haste for Tidus. I do see in the description some steps for Kimahri
I don't really go over the basics because the tutorial covers that. I cover teleporting Yuna to the -ra spells if you do that bit on the Thunder Plains, and I cover Kimahri's where you just want to go to Steal & Use first, then wait there until you get a level 2 Key Sphere and then go right to Holy!
If you have time, maybe watch the future episodes to see the grudge parts (unless you're playing spoiler-free).
The good thing about the standard grid is it's pretty straightforward apart from getting the bonus Strength Sphere from the Luca Blitzball game, and getting Teleport & Return Spheres if you choose to do that for Yuna.

@@ruganzureggie385 You can have more freedom to mix things up with the characters and take them down different paths if you want to.
In terms of being overpowered, you can keep everyone in the centre and use the Strength Sphere from Luca, and even the 3 Strength Spheres from dodging 50 bolts, to make your party incredibly strong. I do that in my Expert Grid playthrough on my channel.

If you don't kill Lord Ochu first pass before entering the temple you won't receive an Elixer or NulBlaze Shield for Tidus because the Crusaders will have retreated.
True, but I don't really care about the items so it's not a big concern for me.

These guides are awesome! Out of curiosity, is there a reason to wait to kill ochu besides quicker overkill with ifrit? If I’m not mistaken, you miss a nulblaze shield and elixir if you don’t kill him right away, and Valefor can overkill him (and avoid earthquake).
Thanks man! I don't know about the gear from him because always kill him after getting Ifrit; it's literally just because it's quicker to Hellfire him. It's particularly relevant if you're soft resetting to get the rare drop of 2x HP Spheres.
Cool. Maybe I’ll give it a few tries with valefor to see if I get lucky (I do want those HP spheres). Again, awesome guides. Lots of stuff I never learned when I first played this game ~18 years ago.
I overkilled lord ochu and didn’t get mp or hp spheres.. 😭
You must've hit it with either an Extract ability, or a weapon with a "Distill' ability. Using one of those changes whatever item you would have got from the fight into the type of sphere that the Extract or Distill ability was.
Check your weapon equips; you don't want those weapons equipped as standard; you only want to equip them temporarily when you are short of that type of sphere, otherwise you'll miss out on lots of items throughout the game.
If you were to reload an earlier save and redo the fight, you would get either HP or MP Spheres.

I still don't understand why Yuna should get black magic...like does Yuna got some sort of hidden perks or something? Cause I wanna use everyone but every guide i look at talks about lulu being obsolete at endgame
You can use Lulu if you like, it's just that she gets immediately and enormously outclassed by Yuna if you give Yuna the Black Magics.
Lulu is the Black Mage and magic is strong throughout the story portions of the game, relatively speaking. To balance this she has very low Agility, meaning she is slow and doesn't get turns often.
Yuna is the healer and summoner. She needs to be relatively quick so has high Agility as well as high Magic. The Aeons also scale from her stats which is partially why the stats are as they are.
However, because her Magic is slightly higher than Lulu BUT she has the aforementioned speed, if you give her Black Magic she's a faster, better Black Mage than Lulu.
Lulu has nothing good other than her Magic and Evasion. She's slow, her overrdrive sucks, her animations are slow and she's the weakest physical attacker. She just has no redeeming features other than big 'ol anime Goth tiddies. I rarely use her from the moment I get Yuna the -Aras.
Hey I just wanted to now early on in the ps vita version of the game how do you get extract ability with wakka as I can't see it on the grid.

Doesn't matter as much really. I can't remember what I did; possibly gave it to Rikku.
pro tip - distil weapons+Ochu will screw you.

12 resets trying to do the stupid blitzball game for my strength sphere. Would've been better spending that 2-3 hrs farming instead :( still don't have my sphere. Save me.

It's not required is it? I'll just have to do slightly more farming in future than you did to get to where you did?
@@WraithsOnlyFans Nah it's not essential at all on a regular grid playthrough. Tidus won't hit as hard, that's all.
Ok good ngl i made a save before the game and a new save for after just incase i was told it was needed.. i don't wanna do another 3+ hours of that torture 😭
