0:30 It would appear that the Doctor has been reliably carrying around a barrister's wig since at least their Fourth incarnation. Because, well, you never know...😂
I love the idea that the Doctor intentionally always wears a jacket with inside pockets just to have access to dozens of random gizmos. That's so Doctory
@@nailinthefashion Maybe the Doctor installed a TARDIS-Like component so that when they reach in those inside pockets they can take something out of a container which is inside the TARDIS? :)
And the ability to teleport, make shield walls, etc. Just whatever is needed for the plot ;)
Well it is cannon that his pockets are bigger on the inside.
Well, Four did once say, "Never throw anything away, Harry."
David Tennant an Donna is the best thing to happen to doctor who in years. I have not watched in so many years. But as soon as this duo came back so did I, thank you for bringing back my Dr who. And happy feelings. ❤
I love the way the inside of the Tardis now looks , so much like the origonal , yet in the origonal the doors could not been seen as they blended with the rest of the walls , not like since they brought the Dr Who back , anyone can now see the doors ? But that said the origonal Tardis also had a second console room ! I wonder if they will bring it back in the future ?

David Tennant was amazing in the role as the Doctor
He always has been. sadly, this was so much less than the 50th anniv
A very fun episode. I loved it and watching along with my gran, who has been a fan since An Unearthly Child, was wonderful.
Seems that's all that's to be had. A bit of "fun". No connection to the lore, 60 years of history, etc.
@@techniqueswithtodd there is connection to the lore and history. It's a modern doctor and companion in an adaptation of a fourth doctor story. Also there are two other episodes that do throw back to the show and it's history. It's an anniversary trilogy, after all.
Also what's wrong with it just being a fun episode? Are we not allowed to have fun anymore? Is it supposed to be nothing but doom and gloom? Because the original creators 60 years ago intended it to be a fun educational show and so far it still is.
same i dont care what the other youtube reviewers say
i love it
Doctor Who is dead. There's no saving the series any more, all they can do is nostalgia-bait from an earlier era when the show was actually good.
@@Eisenbison except it isn't dead. It's very much alive and well and plenty of people are enjoying it. If you believe it to be dead, stop watching and leave us alone. I'm having an absolute blast watching this series, and you can't stop that.
This episode made me laugh and cry!
Special mention to "OH MY GAWD I DID IT AGAIN"
🤦🤦🤦
7:57 Only just noticed the coat toss on railing. Trademark of 10th.
Donna and the Doctor in the Tardis, like a pair of kids at Christmas. 😁❤️
Absolutely fantastic. What a way this episode is to kickstart a bold new era. Allons-y indeed.
I cannot help but think about Miriam Margolyes doing the Meep, she is sooooo good
The Wrath Warriors Sound Like Two Mates That You Go Out And Have A Pint With.
the meep was terrifying it’s still in my nightmares lol
It was cute!
You and me both
Thats just sad
The sad part is in other media Beep the Meep is actually genuinely terrifying... The character is a cold and calculating killer, who uses their perception as cute to somewhat disarm people who even know their true nature like The Doctor...
In the original comic and audio adaptation of this story, rather than that dumb joke throne they had a highly maneuverable spider mech with a sight for their blaster, and they nearly sucked the Doctor into a black hole when they activated their engine... What Russell did to this villain genuinely kinda sucks.. He turned a bizarre but serious and disturbing threat into a joke.
7:34 Shaun gets it. And her asking only confirms that he as nothing to worry about.
This Doctor only goes for buxom blond teens from council estates...
The Meep: I don't need to pretend, for I am The Beep of all The Meeps!
HAIL THE MEEP!!!
I love how intense the music gets when Donna spills coffee on the console.
The old gang gets together one more time. Even Wilf has one last hurrah, but not yet. The Doctor Donna regenerates. Well, sort of. And there's a cute little monster for the kids. I'm sure Disney has Meep toys at the ready. Nice new Tardis, until Donna scuttles it (I'll have to check, but I think Jodie Whittaker's Doctor still holds the record) No biscuit dispenser, eh?
She holds the record for what?
@@BEE-oz7yd Blowing up the Tardis. She pushed one button, seconds after regenerating, and was promptly thrown out.
@@rjmcallister1888 thats the reason she was falling out of the sky and into a train? wow
Doctor: What will you have after 500 years?
Toymaker: *Heavy Breathing* You Doctor, I'd still have you.
Awwwwww, now I want a Toymaker as the companion special reeaaalllll baayyyaaaaadddd
I never felt so betrayed until the little baby Yoda 2.0 showed up.
meep meep 😰
But they're just the Meep, nothing to worry about
@@nailinthefashion
They are the Beep of ALL the Meep.
good highlights from the first episode.
Honestly I LOVE this tardis because it's style is fantastic
I totally with you ! it remimdes me of the origonal tardis from my youth , the only mistake they have made with the tardis when they brought ti back to the the BBC and the Doors do no longer look like the rest of the Tardis as they never showed up , they just looked the same as the rest of the tardis , they had to press a button or lever to open up the tardis door so you could see how to get outside ! Though that said I love the look of the new Tardis !
The best was the doctor and the donna. The meep was too cute to be nice.
Set Designers: Builds brand new spectacular TARDIS interior.
Russell T Davies: Now blow it up.
The Artful Dodger (Series 2023)
Thank you RTD for bringing back Murray Gold!
Loved it when it ended and I didn’t have to endure it anymore
The Doctor Donna!!❤
5:08 this moment with the music is so magical
could just play the whole episode tbh
Such a good episode!! These specials have all been a delight! Like it's Christmas... and it actually WAS!!! ❤️
Meep Meep
Are you going to upload any official clips from The Church on Ruby Road or what?
Give it time
Hey BBC, release 'Torchwood: Absent Friends'
What’s that?
A fine return to form for both Tennant and Tate 😊
EVERY scene with the meep!!!
The moment Donna gets her memory back is so amazing. From intense emotion to comedy with just a flick of the fringe. 😂
Seemed very meh compared to the origin story. They tried to build it up with the music but felt so forced and fake.
This was a wonderful resolution to the total sadness of how Donna ended before. Now. SHE HAS TO GET HER LOTTERY MONEY BACK! UGH.
the Doctor should use the Taris to go into the future or past to get Donna another winning ticket somehow !
❤
Why does the one Wraith Warrior sound like Odo from Deep Space Nine?
Because he is the quintessential space constable.
Great clips, but shouldn't it be David Tennant at the end promoting the clip as it's his doctor's episode?
Oh that's David Tennant I thought it was somebody else
Nope, he is still him.
Weird, this isn't the whole episode ;)
Because they still want you to pay for a tv license / Disney plus subscription.
@@pearsareawful9006good thing i dont pay ethier
@@pearsareawful9006 The joke was that the episode was so good the entire thing was 'the best bit'. I don't pay for a license as I don't watch broadcast TV/iPlayer.
Mr Tennant can do many things, but saying "coffee" like an american is not one of them (comes out Caa fee when he tries.)
I thought this said the BEAST of the Star Beast for a moment
My favourite part was the very last scene, not the resolution, but when Donna spilled tea on the tardis
that's my favorite part too
@@YaBoiJoosh it was honestly atrocious
How is this video not 1 second long
reminds me of one of the creatures from Star Wars
Wich
The Meep felt like Jim Henson came back and let the Doctor Who team go nuts with ideas
The parts adapted from the comic were the best in the episode, the RTD original parts felt a bit meh, most of them, at least.
A great adventure.
My only objection… when The Meep switched Rose should have been really hurt. She’s a teenager, and really felt for the Meep. When the truth was revealed she should have reacted more than an eye roll. Cliche, yes, but Rose would be really hurt and we didn’t see that.
She knew the Meep for maybe an hour or so and only knew that it was alien supposedly hunted by other aliens. In the end it just tricked her which is why I think her reaction was fitting, like "Really? Cute little alien and I fell for it"
Yeah it kind of feels like they forgot about Rose until the finale of the episode! It's s a shame because I was really digging her characterization before that!
I thought the eye roll was more of a reaction to the "weird child" remark. Either a "Really, that's the best you can do?" or a "Ah damn, here we go, Mom's gonna lose it." Maybe a bit of both.
@@93Chowo Yes, I can see that, but still I would have like to see something more.
@@belindabz Again, I can buy that, but it feels wrong to me. We see that Rose really thought she was doing the right thing in helping the Meep. She felt sorry for them and this is how her friendship was abused? She's supposed to be a teenager and let's be honest there is no way she is emotionally mature enough to take betrayal like that without over reacting.
Geez theres a bunch of angry, depressing , and negative people in these comments. Dont let them get you down! Have fun with the show!
Oh don't worry, I won't let them stop me from enjoying Doctor Who. They're just a bunch of emotionally stunted neckbeards who don't want anyone to have fun because they're triggered about their fragile masculinity.
Apart from the toxic "Male presenting Time Lord" line, most of the episode holds up well.
Yeah, they could have handled that so much better.
Well agreed. Felt a bit weird, at the time. Should have replaced it with just "you", referring to The Doctor.
I completely agree, it just seemed a bit forced and a bit sexist to men.
It is surreal to see men complaining about one small line like this.
@@Bruh-zx2mc kick us in the nutz, even metaphorically, and we feel it.
I like The Star Beast
Get this: me too!
yes
Best of the Star Beast; Miriam Margolyes
All Hail The Meep! Really hope we see it again...
Bring back Torchwood asap !
I think UNIT is going to get something similar
Gotta Iove how people come to these videos just to hate on a show.
Like, why don’t they stop watching if it’s so crap to them now?
Because it's hard to give up something you have loved for years or even decades in some cases
@@YaBoiJooshI have always loved Doctor Who since I started watching it a few years ago. The show has had its good moments and bad moments (last two seasons) but it has always been a decent show. I agree, The Star Beast had THE most BASIC plot we have had in a long time, not many new characters, no new major plot, but it was still good. The writing quality was much better than with the 13th Doctor and it was kinda refreshing. I understand everyone has their own opinion, and I get your point of view. I just wanted to have an alternative opinion out there.
:)
saying "just stop watching it because it's not for you anymore" is cracking open a giant can of worms cuz then we have to ask why it's like that now
Meeeeep😂
Isn't it a little too soon to present a "best of.." for this episode.
Also despite coming out back in November 2023, certain elements of it is not exactly old news in the mainstream media.
?
Just reviewed this special
Shame. The Meep started out so cute! 👀🙈
Am I the only one who find that the creature looks like Yoda from Star Wars ?

The male presenting timelord 😬🙄 #ripdoctorwho
@@SimonAckerman most of us just want a show about a man who stole a time machine and ran away. We watch to get away from the everyday identity political arguments etc...
Being lectured to like this patronises everyone and appeases such a small minority of people that probably didn't even know what doctor who was before 2010 and maybe don't even watch anyway, they just wait for the next thing to be offended and outraged by so they can change that show as well.
* And yes, totally agree with you.
** Further edit - David Tennant, maybe thanks to his wife, Is fully onboard with the belittling and the language and tone used in these so called "specials" he's now a part of it, willingly and proudly. He destroyed his own reputation as The 10th Doctor for "the message".
RTD wrote that line specifically to piss people like you off. I'm very happy to see that it worked.
@@SimonAckermanI see it as RTD paying you back for the way you all treated his friend Chris Chibnall, and also poor Jodie Whittaker who is an absolutely lovely woman irl.
@@SuperTomsee"tHe mEsSaGe" Lol, maybe you should form your own opinions instead of regurgitating everything Nerdrotic says in his garbage videos.
@@wanderingshadow1372that's so cringy how about making it well written insted of cringe dialogue im pansexual so what do you mean people like you lol they can't write a trans character with a personality so ofc that pisses me off since they aren't representing trans people all they ate doing is creating stereotypes
I know I'm gonna probably get bashed for this, but I didn't like the Star Beast. RTD has become too obsessed with spreading "The Message" that he forsakes the vital elements of plot and character. I mean the psychadellic sun was supposed to be called the black sun and I'm assuming it was changed because of racial connotations, a wheelcair with rockets blowing up government property ,and Davros is standing now (Can be explained by liberation of the daleks (DWM) but barely)? OK. I also hate the fact that Donna could just let it go. You could've had that the child took on some of the traits and it prolonged the time it took for Donna to die. This episode existing also raises the question of the canonity of the comics. In this episode Sharon is supposed to join the 4th Doctor. She can't just teleport in next time, because in her last story I'm pretty sure she references the meep. Plus what is up with the sonic shield?
For me, this story should have been that the Warth prison transport ship is attacked by space pirates and during the chaos Beep escapes. He then clones himself on a remote asteriod, which contains an abondoned colony, by taking scraps of his DNA and multiplying it. Building an army, he then turns his attentions to the planet that defied him - Earth. His downfall would be that because the clones were his exact replica, they challenged his leadership and broke into a meepy FFA. And UNIT just watches as they set up a cordon around the combat zone.
Anyway, those are my thoughts, change my mind.

Pretty weak episode. Retconing the departure of Donna is probably the most scandalous thing ever made on New Who. If it were written by Chibnall, the fandom would be in rage
Retconning donna's departure?? Uh... You- you HAVE watched doctor who right? Donna was left without her memorys on earth if thats what you think is being retconned (which it isnt???)

A bit crap yeah. sadly it's not meant for long term fans. It's meant for zoomers.
Yep, afraid so, @@techniqueswithtodd . I have been an avid fan since 1963, but no more Doctor WHOke for me!
My only problem with the episode was the ending when they were like “male timelords will never know”. I feel that is stupid cus the doctor has lived thousands of years and knows A LOT. It’s a lazy excuse for an ending… Also Rose is bad at acting. Get an actor who is actually 15 and knows how to act.
Best part was when they asked the meeps gender.
It’s literally a bit from the source material and a reference to Tom Baker so people shouldn’t be so angry
@EiraGoodfellow-lo8om what's the source material?
@@loganb.2029 it was based off of a doctor who comics book for the 4th doctor, the guy who drew it also did Watchmen with Allan Moore if you know comics
The line struck me as off, but is that simply because I’m not used to seeing the world presented through the eyes of someone who is not straight? In ten years will this simply be seen by pretty much everyone as a passing remark and not something forced and pointed by many? Attitudes about what is normal are changing so I guess I’ll have to wait and see. In the meantime, a male Dr dancing in what looked more like a miniskirt than a kilt (to me) is creating some cognitive dissonance in my poor brain. Though I do really like the new Dr overall.
I think at the moment my advice to fans who maybe don’t understand is that there’s no malice and we all want to have fun, celebrate what makes each of us unique. So in Doctor Who I’d say that queer characters are just like any other character with their own stories
10:35 only funny part
The meep was the hero! He was going to get rid of fail state.

What does any of this have to do with the star Beast?
I was making a general comment about the way a treasure of the bbc is getting it wrong as I have been a loyal fan since a child , but there is even talk of changing the Doctor yet again and have him come back when he regenerates in full latex make up , so we probably not see the doctor with a " human type " face as well , so sory if my comments have anoyed you , but i was talking about Dr Who in general and not about just one episode !
