It's a good time to be a Chiefs fan and all the success is certainly not lost on this fan.

It's a combination of injuries and playing rookies (Carson Steele, Xavier Worthy, Jared Wiley) who will need time to develop. It's not about how they're playing now but how they'll be playing towards the end of the season and playoffs.
I think it's because they're not being consistent or explosive as they use to be. As a Chiefs fan, I feel like they really started to go downhill from the moment they let Eric Bienemy go. He brought some fire and confidence out of the old Chiefs team, even when they was losing.
@@georgewoolf6300 Eric made that offense look like the toughest offense in the whole league, now it's like they look less of that but still winning games. Half of their wins was because of the defense lol
Don't usually glaze him but props to Mahomes for accepting the role of a more conservative passer and game manager when when the league started to figure him and Reid out. A lot of QBs with big egos wouldn't accept this role and would continue to play hero ball.
I accepted that high flying offense was gone once Hill was traded away, and I was convinced that I wasn't going to see them get through the playoffs last year. But they still won it all, so at this point as a Chiefs fan I just tune in to see what they do. Also, when the earliest the season has ended has been the AFCCG each year Mahomes has been a starter, there is bound to be disappointment to follow at some point. That's unsustainable.
I firmly believe that Tampa Bay showed the whole NFL how to beat the Chiefs' high-flying offense in Super Bowl 55. The Chiefs recognized that that sort of play wasn't going to get them anywhere anymore, so they traded away Tyreek Hill to the Dolphins and committed to a new style of play that turned to to be just what they needed to keep winning super bowls. The Dolphins are still playing the Chiefs' old offensive scheme, and they beat up on the dregs of the NFL, but they can't beat teams that can effectively run the cover 2 defense. That's why they lose to good teams and always gets bounced from the post season.
While that might be a good part of it, also remember they only had one starting OL playing that game. I think the regular season game against the Bucs where they adjusted at halftime (also a primetime game) to prevent those kinds of plays was a bigger showing, it just took a while for the league to adjust to that - and when the Bengals showed how effective that was in the second half of the AFCCG, that's when the Chiefs pivoted fully by trading Tyreek.
Kinda funny that Both the Bills and Dolphins have found ways to help the Chiefs become a Dynasty! Edit: Gotta blame Matt Nagy for holding back Mahomes & the offense.
I know you have forgotten what it's like to have your team in every game they play, but for a Chiefs fan, the games so far have been nail biters for the most part The score is irrelevant when you are trying to accomplish something and you are in it to the end. You'll remember what it's like when Bo gets some pieces around him and they are competitive again 😅😅😅😅😅
As a Chiefs fan they can give me exciting football or boring football as long as they give me winning football. Thanks Perna for an accurate, honest but yet humorous assessment of the team I've loved for over 60 years. The only issue I have is that you mentioned God's taint of a football team. Why would you finish the video with a comment about the Raiders?
I think Fangio inadvertently helped Mahomes read defenses better using 2 high safeties. He was very run & gun early on in his career and it was masked by fast receivers and releases. Now that he's running committee WR cores and still winning, you can see that, past the drops and occasional picks, He's very careful with his selections and ability to escape the pocket.
I wish ESPN or fs1 would just have you on for a segment during every live broadcast I'd be way more happy to hear you drop these dimes of wisdom instead of whoever else they have now. ... Except fitzamagic... he might be the perfect co-host for you on a big network! Love your show big guy! MR. PERNA!
its due to offensive backfield injury and an amazing coach staff and defensive roster. Great insight on the defensive accomadations overtime on Mahomes
The Tom Brady Patriots teams were masters of the 4th quarter drive. Eating clock while methodically marching down for the score. Not leaving enough time for a comeback. I think the Chiefs realized post-Tyreek that they needed to add some of that to their DNA, and while not looking pretty it has worked for two rings. They aren't just Mahomes+speed now, they can run and defend as well. Way more balanced than the earlier years.
Great job Perna 👏 for the first time people are telling me to bench Patrick Mahomes in fantasy so good job being one of the first to point out the decline of the Chiefs offense..
I tried getting two of the derpy orange shirts for my mom and mother-in-law, but after being in production since September 1st I think I need to cancel that. Any one else have issues with Spring?
I mean, technically most offenses are boring nowadays. Falcons vs. Bucs was the most offense and yardage we've seen in a single game in what? 2-3 seasons?
Exciting games doesn’t mean high scoring yards just flashy plays make it exciting something out of the ordinary. Last year we had like 2 60+ point games, Mahomes magic with crazy cross body throws you know that type of exciting.
To be fair, last year would have had all the exciting long plays if their receivers could catch the fucking balls. He was hitting them in the hands, and they were dropping everything
Chiefs fan here. I give zero fucks about the lack of fireworks because winning is amazing. The week sucks ass when your team loses. It’s entertaining as hell watching them hoist the trophy at the end of the season. It’s more exciting than ANY explosive offensive play.
In all honesty I think exciting Mahomes will return. People are forgetting they have one of the hardest schedules in the league this year and that they have a whole bunch of injuries and rookies . But if Hollywood, Pacheco return and Worthy Develops into what he’s shown in flashes they should become a joy to watch
This doesn't really have much to do with much, but I wonder how often we can really say Patrick Mahomes led the Chiefs to win a truly competitive AFC west? Just like Brady in the AFC East for all those years, have they ever really had a dog fight to win that division? I'm not sure either he or Tom Brady ever competed in a division that is going to be as competitive as something like the NFC North this year.
Comedians in life lol. Without Patrick the chiefs are not winning shit !! Andy Reid didn’t win shit until they drafted Patrick!! It’s self explanatory. Also Don’t blame Tom and Patrick for their division rivals failures !!!!

So the Bucs showed the NFL the way to beat them was to have 4 of their 5 offensive linemen injured??
They lost because they lost two OL in the championship game.
Williams catches that catch that hit him in the face in the endzone, and Chiefs win that SB. Even with a decimated front line.
Interesting and well thought out theory 🤔
Bring back Eric Bienemey lol.
I remember a few years ago everyone said "fire Spags."
@@mikehawk6120 pretty much. B4 the Tyreek Hill trade, that Defense was a dumpster fire.
I thank you Brandon. You knew the Chiefs need a lift and they're going to go on a tear for you now and Broncos fans.
The ad is next level Perna, chapeau 😀
They remind me a lot of the Patriots first dynasty. Which means Mahomes needs a second dynasty before any GOAT talk.
Brandon “Deep, deep in my Heart i love the Chiefs“ Perna 🎉
Keep up the great work Brandon. Loving the content as always . Hope you make it out to Vegas one of these days. If so first round is on me
I think Fangio inadvertently helped Mahomes read defenses better using 2 high safeties. He was very run & gun early on in his career and it was masked by fast receivers and releases. Now that he's running committee WR cores and still winning, you can see that, past the drops and occasional picks, He's very careful with his selections and ability to escape the pocket.
As a lifelong Chiefs fan, it makes me vomit in my mouth to say this.... Just win, Baby. lol.
LOL Funny Perna. The real issue is our tackles.

"Low blow" Perna
🤣
Yep, that's what I always say, Fair and Balanced Perna...
Love your balls deep series. You have a better understanding of NFL teams than people in sports media
"take the air out of the ball.." I was waiting tb12 joke here but got surprised.. :D
MR. PERNA!
Not a particularly hot take in there. Once again, this format suits you. Remarkably even-handed given the rivalry. Good job, Perna.
its due to offensive backfield injury and an amazing coach staff and defensive roster.
Brandon perna the goat🙏🏼
I love when Brandon Perna goes balls deep into my team
I can't believe you said they switched their team identity more than any other team when our own Broncos had a bigger shift in less time 2013 to 2015
Brandon, my good fellow, I find your hypothesis compelling. Do continue.
I’m a Chiefs fan and this is my preferred RUclips football channel.
All i got from this video is a Broncos coach took the fun out of football.
That Butker joke; well done young men, well done
Kelce is also 6 years older than he was in 2018. He's exiting his prime and isn't featured as much as he was in the offense before
Jokes aside, this new new new new take on the Chief is great 😎 Well done Perna 👏🏻
another good video, Nimrod
I mean, technically most offenses are boring nowadays. Falcons vs. Bucs was the most offense and yardage we've seen in a single game in what? 2-3 seasons?
Exciting games doesn’t mean high scoring yards just flashy plays make it exciting something out of the ordinary. Last year we had like 2 60+ point games, Mahomes magic with crazy cross body throws you know that type of exciting.
I liked it before I even watched it because I knew this would be the most fair take on the chiefs out there.
To be fair, last year would have had all the exciting long plays if their receivers could catch the fucking balls. He was hitting them in the hands, and they were dropping everything
The Chiefs made the whole NFL get more boring the way they forced defenses to adapt 😂
Chiefs fan here. I give zero fucks about the lack of fireworks because winning is amazing. The week sucks ass when your team loses. It’s entertaining as hell watching them hoist the trophy at the end of the season. It’s more exciting than ANY explosive offensive play.
Especially when it's John elway handing you the trophy
Hey my guy, u are funny as hell, and a good sport. Keep it up bro
Can't wait for this team to fall apart already
Same. The Chiefs are getting old.
Are we all forgetting that this is exactly what the Patriots dynasty did
100% AGREE on being sick of Romo and Collinsworth lusting over Mahomes throwing a ball away! PLEASE, JUST BE NORMAL COMMENTATORS!!!
Yeah I gotta say that Harrison Butker joke was too good.
"Efficient, perhaps, but far from the thrilling unit it once was!" Yeah, Brandon, me too.
the fact that this man doesn't have 1m subs already is criminal.
Great video brandon🔥💥🔥🏈🏈
