    - ABOUT THIS VIDEO -
    It's pointless to pay for fast internet speeds if your home's Wi-Fi network isn't strong enough to take advantage of them. For many homes, a single router isn't powerful enough to generate a consistent signal that reaches every room, resulting in weak connections and dead zones. However, there are numerous devices available that can help extend the range of your home's router, and we've compiled a list of some of the best Wi-Fi extender options available right now.
    A range extender, also known as a Wi-Fi signal booster, is a small, plug-in device that pairs wirelessly with your router using built-in Wi-Fi radios and antennas. When you plug one in near the edge of your router's wireless range and pair it with the network, it will begin rebroadcasting the signal further into your home. All of today's top models are less expensive than upgrading to a full-fledged mesh router with its own range-extending satellite devices, they're simple to set up, they'll work with any router brand, and in most cases, you can use the same SSID and password as your original router. This results in a single, seamless connection that you won't have to think about much.

    I live in a smaller, older home so the walls are pretty solid. Do you think one of these would help my wireless outdoor security camera get a strong signal? Possibly if it is placed 9n the other side of the wall and or near the closest window just inside near the camera????

    ..but you fail to mention the fundamental downside of just adding simple WiFi (repeater) extenders!… compared to building a wifi mesh using mesh extenders. You will be repeating everything so if you have a lot of devices this can actually create traffic slowdown. Eg halve the potential speeds. Also hand off (if roaming around a large house) between different extenders signals does not usually work well (many devices try their best to cling onto the old connection rather than hook onto new signal) and manually reselecting as you move around your house is a pain. Another reason to move to mesh.

    Great info! My situation I’m looking to correct is marginal Wi-Fi on patio just outside of home and very poor / to non-existent Wi-Fi in my detached garage. I have engaged my internet provider to boost the Wi-Fi output from their gateway and while it made a difference inside the home the area just outside the house on patio still marginal at best and garage is unchanged. What recommendations do you have for an extender with outdoor antenna?

    • @stephenhookings1985

      If you have power to the remote garage consider trialling the power line adaptors. Be careful how you secure it.

      @@cortlandgolightly Nothing as of yet. Garage is on separate meter / power feed. Have made some rough distance measurements from house gateway to garage (~130’) and believe I’ll try direct burial CAT5 in 1” PVC for feed.

Once you do move the plug to the room you want it in and switch on till the blue circle and three blue lights in mine 2.4 and 5G. It will show on you phone as your WIFI with _EXT. That is it done and will go between them both. Hope that helps.

      Bro how's was your TP-LINK RE650. I have one and it won't connect to the internet. It connects to my host (my router) and it will connect to my clients, but it doesn't access the net. I don't understand. So all my clients will say connection successful, but no internet. Like whats that all about.

    • @stephenhookings1985
      @stephenhookings1985 10 месяцев назад +1

      Yes and it needs to be near enough to the router to get a strong enough signal to replicate. Say you have a device out of range of router. It would be almost pointless putting the repeater there! Try halfway OR aside from a blockage (thick wall) so the signal.can shine thru a doorway.

    Just purchased the TP-Link RE650 And it took just a few minutes to set up using the Tether App $ 100 plus tax on Amazon and money well spent ! . Our 3000 sq foot single story home had a major dead spot in our master bedroom and bath . But no more ! My wife is super happy now as I am too because now we get 100% wifi connectivity with no lag or wash out . And I liked the fact that it had an ethernet port that I connected our TV and game console to which gives us all the speed we pay for . A little pricy ? Not if it does what it says it will do !
