    Wonderful. Do you clear coat the carbon? Or just polish it?

    I have a question. I have a Shirogorov F3 with G10 scales on it. They fit over liners on each side. Since there’s been so much going on with Russia and the embargo I cannot for the life of me get my hands on a set of carbon fiber scales for my knife. Do you ever work on other peoples knives and make scales for them like you do in this video ? I am an old guy and a disabled veteran and I have started collecting pocket nice and I really love this knife. It did cost me quite a bit. What I could do is remove both scales and ship them to you that way he would kind of have a template. Or I think that is what it would be called. I will understand if you can’t do it but I have checked with everybody I know in my area and nobody seems to know how. And my name is Richard Hopkins and I live in St. Petersburg Florida. Or I could just ship the whole Knife to you. I have to ask because I don’t know anybody who really knows how to work on knives. And I would pay you whatever you needed for materials and your time.

      I don't have an exact date but the first batch will be ready very soon and I'll be making them available as often as possible. I will let everyone know when they are ready.

    Unbelievable attention to detail Jason. How long have you been perfecting this design? Ciao, Marco.

      Well... short answer is that I've made 15 knives prior to this one over the course of about a year. The first 5 had significant changes between each then about every 2 or so had changes, now about every 5. It's a continuous evolutionary process so I don't know if I'll ever say its been perfected.

      @@vcedge9466 Ha ha! Sounds like my instrument panel, I'm at evolution #5 in five years. Dunno it will ever be perfect, but right now I'm happy with, though I have a few more ideas... 😂🤣

    Very nice work! Thanks for bringing us along and showing your process. I have a vmc and thought it would be a fun and challenging project to build a knife like this for myself. However after seeing all the detail, programming and tooling required I think I'd be better off buying one from you. I'm really impressed with your design details and quality you put into your products. I wish you success in your business and youtube channel. Thanks again for sharing! I'll be following your progress.

      Thank you so much! It definitely is fun and challenging. I've had this knife in various stages of development for over a year in my spare time and it took me months to get the first prototypes made. Now bringing it into a state of production is another level in itself. I am really enjoying the process, and learning a lot as I go, so it's all good. I hope to be able to get these out to people like you very soon, thank you for your patience.

    Great attention to detail!
    Personally not a fan of the carbon look, but I really love the way you integrated the different locating features and such!
    Found your channel a couple of days ago and instantly subbed, great stuff, keep it up!

      Thank you, and thanks for coming along on the journey! I totally understand, knife style is a very subjective and personal thing. I guess that's why there are so many different ones out there.

    How is the coolant filtration working out so far? Looks like machining with coolant is way better than dry.

      Filtration is working well so far. Coolant is nice and clean. The 2nd stage filter hasn't dropped pressure at all yet, I just change out the felt in the chip tray when it starts to get full. I'll change that to a looser mesh soon and see how it goes.

    Love your videos! Just found your videos from seriously considering a 1100MX with ATC/4-axis. Really enjoy seeing the machine being used in practical applications.
    I keep on hearing people say to look for a used Haas's (started researching used DT1 and DM1's) but I know so little about the market I am reaching out to others to learn more.

      Thanks! Yeah used Haas vs new Tormach is the age old question. It really depends on what you plan to do with it. Is 6k rpm acceptable or do you need 10k or 15k? Do you have room? How much horsepower will do? Etc,etc. Good luck deciding, I went through the same thing.

    • @mv3dnerd

      One of the big deciders for me is power. HAAS’s require 3 phase power which is not typical in residential.

    • @EricTungCom
      @EricTungCom 3 года назад

      @@mv3dnerd I have found that you can get a rotary converter for $1500-2000 that can provide enough power to drive a 15hp Haas... Provided you have 60 amps free in your electrical box.

    • @mv3dnerd
      @mv3dnerd 3 года назад

      @@EricTungCom I looked into that. It has to be a certain kind from what I understand. You have to ensure the current is clean to the Haas or it can cause some milling issues. When I was looking into it I ran across these www.phasetechnologies.com/ which Haas will certify for warranty purposes.
