The last time I had a real trim was 2 years ago 😮! I was just saying yesterday just what you’re talking about cutting my hair for growth and to make it easier on me 😅.
@@AdannaMadueke I will do small upkeeps when I see raggedy ends. I don’t use heat on my hair at all, actually it’s only used for trimmings. When I have excessive shedding I know it’s time for the real deal 🤭✂️.
@@AdannaMaduekeplease oo what's the name of the saloon? Finding a hair dresser that really can take care of natural hair is almost mission impossible.
For a tip, make sure you trim at least 2-3 times a year and cold water when rinsing out the deep conditioner keeps the moisture in your hair. Also your hair has come a long way from what it was 2 years ago. love to see it!
Consider consuming collagen peptide powder to increase your hair’s strength & density. I’ve been consuming it for about 3 years now and it never ceases to amaze the benefits. Your hair seems to thin at the ends like mines use to. It’s a sign of nutrient deficiency particularly collagen. I would encourage you to study it. The bovine tends to be the most popular and readily available. The research suggests marine collagen is closest to what humans produce. There are some that contain all 5 different kinds. But honestly, from my experience, with consistency the bovine, within 3 weeks, my stylist could tell the difference and I didn’t even tell her I started consuming it. I initially took a serving in the morning and one in the evening the first 30 days then dropped back down to a serving.
I trim my hair almost every 2 weeks, which is EXCESSIVE. I am finally leaving the ends alone and letting my hair flourish. Your hair turned out so cute 😍
I'm scissors happy too! Lol. Every wash day when my hair is loose (about every 1-2 weeks) I'm snipping off my ends as well. I put in protective styles to protect my strands from myself. 👀✂️
Yes. Dont they claim split ends are irreversible even with the holy grail olaplex. ? It better to snip then let it snatch up that follicle@@afokalu4306
Quick tip! Apple cider vinegar helps melt out the knots from protective styles! Just dilute it with water, as spray it into your hair before washing! It really helps!
Your hair has really grown a lot. You had some shedding so the trim was really needed and probably wasn't as bad as you thought. It'll be much healthier now. The protective style looks simple and cute ❤
I trim as needed which is average of every 4 to 5 months. Upon the 4/5-month timeframe if my hair is thriving, then I don't trim it. I do not put heat in my hair or over manipulate it with combs or brushes to detangle (finger detangle only) so that's why I don't need to trim often. Also, single strand knots are almost non-existent because I changed my regimen drastically during 2020 and started washing my hair every 7-10 days instead of monthly and re-moisturizing every 3-4 days. The #1 thing that has my hair thriving is not following trends or having other people in my hair.
Hey Adana! Tip: trim your hair as needed, which means you need to observe your hair & see when it’s not doing well then trim ends that need to go. I trim 1-2 times a year depending on what my hair feels like. Also, on the single strand knots, I’d guess you have fine hair strands like me. I think we’re more susceptible to them. The number 1 cause is dryness. I notice more of them when I don’t do a great job at moisturising Your hairstyle was popping! I’ll also do 2 flat twists soon. It looks so simple & elegant!❤
The key is to keep your ends creamed moisturized and greased. Finger detangle gently in the shower, then gently detangle with a pic🪮 start at the ends. Deep condition your hair EVERY week. NEVER wash your hair when you’re mad, sad, or angry. If you do this you won’t have to do 2-3 unnecessary trimmings a year.
Hiiiiii, I trim my hair 4 to 5 months! Most people say every 3 month. Two cornrows are always my go to hair style when I’m not working in the office! I’m learning healthy hair is the Best Hair 😊
Protective styling doe not mean you should cleanse scalp and moisturise your hair as normal. As the plaits start growing out you should use the crotchet hook to twist the hair back to the scalp one because it keeps it looking neat and also stops the extensions from pulling on your roots. Hope this makes sense.
Because we just finished winter......consider taking Vitamin D3 supplements. I noticed significantly less shedding when i started taking vit D3 and iron supplements. My hair is now thickening and im going to be cutting the thin ends soon as the hair gets fuller. Get blood test to check your ferritin and vit d3 levels. Apparently you need ferritin of at least 70 to get your hair at optimum.
You want to trim your hair every 3 to 6 months & anytime you condition your hair you want to rinse with cold water to maintain moisture & close your cuticles.
Hi Adanna and all the boo(s) ❤❤❤. I also rinse my hair with cold water. I love it for my natural hair as well. I rarely trim my ends 😎 because i don't often see the need to as my ends are always equal and okay. I'm enjoying my natural hair journey
The stylist was so gentle and did a great job. I just big chopped my hair for the 4th or 5th time 😂. I am not new to just having a clean fresh start. But I feel that you should trim your hair as needed. Everyone’s hair is different, so you would have to decide what’s best for you. Thanks for sharing ❤.
That hair is growing. I remember when we were doing protective styles with roots. You grew and I got out of a bad relationship and started over. I should have stayed the course 😊
That’s my go to natural hairstyle when I have enough hair. I haven’t trimmed in about a year as I was waiting for my hair to grow back. I typically cut or trim every 4 months. Actually, I’m always cutting on it. I am quick to get rid of ends I think need it and I am also scissor happy 😅 I even went bald about two years ago.
I helped a co-worker take out crochet braids (synthetic hair). It was so hard to take down and her hair was extremely dry. It was a terrible experience.
I forgot what video it was but in one of your video your hair had really grown a lot and you were retaining length very well. I would say go back to that video and see what you did that worked during that time; I believe it was a video when you were either in Nigeria or Ghana. I myself is even looking for that video but can’t find it. I can totally relate to your hair journey, my hair is growing but it gets to a point and it breaks off. I could be retaining length for a good six months and the next six months it falls off.
I trim my 4c hair every 3-4 months. The more I manipulate my hair, the more I have to trim. If I wait for my hair to "tell" me to trim, I tend to need more hair removed.
My stylist told me to trim my hair (slow growing/ low porosity and fine) every 6-8weeks. My ends used to tangle like crazy then I started getting trims and it helps
ok by now you should know that love all your videos. With that said, I want to know where to buy that dress/shirt/dashiki. I'm not sure what it was but I want one. The color was so nice on you.
Guys, please. It’s not about moisturizing your hair in the protective style. I’m a braider and braiders don’t tell you the braiding hair is what pulls the moisture from your hair. Also, braids are not supposed to left in for months at a time. 🤦🏽♀️ I know people pay a lot for them, but it’s not beneficial to the hair to leave them in for a long time. We also don’t consider the fact that the products that ppl use these days contain alcohol and drying ingredients that can cause buildup. Moisturizing your hair in the protective style does nothing but add to the buildup.
My hair was cut short like a boys hair 2 inches. I did protective style, and applied moistening spray daily. I had it done over every 2 weeks. It stopped shedding. I had no tangles. At the end of the day 4-41/2 months, my hair was just a little pass my shoulders. It grew really fast. It never did that before, and it was thicker ❤
@@katieyarbrough2483 Yes…you had it done every 2 weeks. People leave braids in 2-4 months. That’s not healthy for your hair. Just like anything else too much of it can cause more harm than good.
@@HOT8CHOCOLAT3 I left my hair in cornrows for 4 months. Washed every 2 weeks and moisturised every 4 days. My hair retained more length than it did the whole previous year.
