There are 4 unit songs total and they are releasing a video for each one every week in January. January 10, 17, and 24 (these may be Korean dates because MATZ dropped a day earlier than we thought).
Yeosang, San, and Wooyoung’s ‘IT’s You’
Mingi and Yunho’s ‘Youth’
Jongho’s solo track ‘Everything’
Ateez announced on Christmas Day that they would drop one music video per week in January as their gift to the fans. So all the unit songs from The World Ep. Fin: Will, will get its own music video. Next week should be San, Wooyoung, and Yeosang’s song, the week after that we get Youth by Mingi and Yunho, and the last week in January we get Jongho’s solo song.

MATZ is what Seonghwa and Hongjoong call their unit as in Madhyungs - eldest. They have for years now.

Seonghwa rapped smaller parts in earlier songs as he auditioned as a rapper but became a vocalist. He sometimes rapped Mingis part. I believe iften during Mingis hiatus.
He had some parts in Dreamers. Be my lover. But the big step for rap position was probably Bouncy.
For this song he wanted to do a hip hop song and convinced Eden and Hongjoong to produce a track like this.
Both of them wrote the lyrics and it basically is a diss track.
They performed it this last weekend on their concerts and it was 🔥🔥

Seongwa did audition as a rapper for KQ but it is only been more recently he has been able to rap as well as sing. In Bouncy it was him that rapped after Mingi. As far as writing and production they both participated I think. This a diss track to all those that hated on them in the past. The mention about GPS is referenced to when someone put a tracker on the van they were travelling in 2021. The scene in the music store some believe is related to other artists copying/plagiarising them
Ooof being plagiarized as an artist is definitely a crap feeling, glad they included them in the distract along with the antis
dis is fire tbh cus in this song they were calling out the haters and stalkers so called the "sasaengs" fun fact about it some of yall didn't know the part of hongjoong's rap "If you want to put a GPS, put it on a suitcase, not on a carnival
You can be busy too" this part talks about uhh the gps that they found in their car i dont quite remember but i do remember this news tho also other obsessive atinys are so creepy that they sometimes follow them everywhere and taking pictures of them and posting them online "After the time attack in Sinsa, Hongdae

for me hongjoong is just a genius he said seonghwa suggested this genre ti him to do it as a unit and he gone for it it is remind me of his songs he produced for xikers u can know it is hongjoongs just listening to the beat but he definitely can make very soft songs as well like dreamy day, thank u and all about u which is my fav
i love that seonghwa for the first time trying writing lyrics he did an amazing job as well and i can tell he found his rap style in this song

yea actually hongjoong produced this song and dreamy day for this album the both songs are so completely different i love hongjoong for that he can do anything he put his mind too btw hongjoong broke his rap record twice in 2023 matz is his second time and the latest
seonghwa and hongjoong wrote the lyrics for this song also i think this type of rapping suits seonghwa a lot

As far as name pronunciation, I believe the "h" in seonghwa is silent, the g at the end of Hong Joong is silent. Matz sounds like mats and is a nickname of some sort for the 2 of them being oldest. Im sure someone can correct me if I'm wrong.
This is sort of a diss song regarding crazy, dangerous fan/s that Hong Joong had to deal with in the past.
Yes, the last beat change is in the song on the album. It all hits so much harder with the MV.
I love Ateez and all the members in general but my bias is Jongho, Hong Joong and Seonghwa are my bias wreckers. I love the swag from Seonghwa in this. He definitely got to show off and this side of him is pretty cool. Hong Joong has mad talent but seemed so much more relaxed and there for the vibe rather than being his normal perfectionist self. So I think this song gave them both a moment to let it go and have a great time and this fire song is the result.
At the end it said Matz will be right back so I'm looking forward to more from this duo.
Hong Joong doesn't do anything without a double meaning so the imagery you were talking about was pretty accurate.

MATZ (short for madhyungs or eldests) is actually the duo name for our eldest boys, Seonghwa and Hongjoong. That's also why Mingi is not here, It's MATZ! They gave the name to themselves cause the "kids" had their own thing.
the 99 liner have a different name. I think it's "just" the 99 liners... lol correct me if I'm wrong.

Seonghwa is a FREAKING AMAZING RAPPER! In BOUNCY he's INSANE! He actually auditioned as a rapper. but he sings in the majority of their songs.
SEONG-HWA. Pronounce it like Song-Hwa, it'll be easier.

Kim Hong-joong and Park Seong-hwa wrote the song, with EDEN too If I'm not mistaken, maybe one more.

ALSO, This one I copied this (From IMDB) cause I'm too lazy to write it. but their music is always edgy and fearless. Always DANGEROUS as they say in the song. They always have something to say. They're rebellious and anti-government at almost every "Serious" song they make that's related to their lure mostly.

Hongjoong is one my fav rappers in all of K Pop & Seonghwa really surprised me with this song for sure! Man has skills!
You are pronouncing Hong Joong correctly. Seonghwa’s name…in Korean the have a sound that we don’t have in English that is somewhere between an O and a U, or maybe more like between an Uh and an Ah. The character in Korean looks like this: 어, but in English it is usually written as eo (like in Seonghwa and Yeosang) but sometimes they write it in English as U instead. For Example: Jungkook, could also be written as Jeongkook. So Seonghwa could almost as accurately be written as Sunghwa. The H in Hwa is pronounced by blowing out air before the W almost like you are trying to whistle. Side note: Hwa is a word common in both Chinese and Korean that can refer to Fire, or Flowers, but in Korean can also mean anger. Seonghwa has said that his name means something to do with stars, in Seonghwa also means a torch or something that lights the way.
This is very yet & yet I fear I will still make some mistakes, Korean names are quite difficult for me unfortunately

MATZ is the ship name that Atinys gave to Hongjoong and Seonghwa’s friendship. Unlike San and Wooyoung who gave themselves the ship name Woosan (which means “umbrella” in Korean.)
I thought that name was made by hongjoong and seonghwa themselves. Matz which means the oldest hyungs because they're the oldest in the groups. They made the name since the beginning.
