  • While visiting PRI2019, Herman from Platinum Racing Products took us to visit the guys from Kinsler to talk about mechanical fuel pumps. They are now becoming much more popular in enthusiast level race cars and street cars.

Worked with Greg in the early 2000's A+ business. I learned so much working At Kinsler and always had a question of the day for Greg. Props to Jeff Phol who taught me so much about quality control and to be a professional. I am now in SC as a shop forman due to the skills I learned from these professionals.

wonder how much extra strain is put on the timing belt and the risk of it breaking?

Only thing wrong with this video, is that there is not enough Herman.

Would love to see an extension on this detailing the plumbing options, and benefits/downsides of the different options when running the supply line.
I'd love to run a mech pump in my GTR, but want a little more info on how it might be achieved without running a surge tank in the boot/bay.

You need a surge tank, or custom fuel cell, one way or another. Just a matter of where

@@MotiveVideo great video. Does a mech pump generate suction from the surge tank? Presumably the pump needs to be gravity fed from the surge tank? Then its just a case of a feed and return via a lift pump from the tank?
You guys are running one on the GTR now, right? Are you doing many miles in it?

@@MotiveVideo currently running a frenchies in tank twin pump holder/surge setup, was going to look into using a single 525 as a sort of overkill prime pump, and then let the mech pump draw from the tank once primed - fairly certain thats asking far too much from a mech pump in terms of suction though. Do you know if you can just run an EFI pump directly into the suction side of the mech pump? or is that just a plain stupid idea...

Edmundo Cunha we lose thousands of dollars of some of the project car videos we make from our own pocket, so, got to make some back. But we don’t feature products that don’t work or are junk. We use this in our own proven project car
