@MSVD after Hamilton crashed at Mirabeau like in 2009, is it worth doing a video on F1 drivers crashing at the same corner? Examples like Massa at Ste Devote (2013, 2013 and 2014), Verstappen Swimming Pool (2016 vs 2018), Ralf Schumacher at Indy banked corner (2004, 2005), Verstappen at T1 Baku (2018 and some FP1 I cant remember), Alonso Canada T5 (2005, 2011) Would be a great video
Yes it is. Very tricky corner, end of a long straight into a slow hard right turn. There's been a few guys get caught out in the braking zone there. Alex Sperifico went for a wild ride there too in 2007
@@callmeshaggy5166 It was in the inside, but there was a catch fence. There was a concrete barrier, then about a 6 foot alley space, then the crash fence... When the car launched the rear tire impacted the marshals who were between the two barriers in what was thought to be a safe "lane". Directly behind them was the catch fence, and behind the fence a very large oak tree. Unfortunately the catch fence couldn't keep Krosnoff's car from impacting the tree. They changed the design the following year, adding the fence to the top of the barriers, better protecting the marshals, and eventually also removed the tree.
@@KimiMTZ17 Nope. Corvette fans. Hence, Sting Ray. Not even the strangest name in IndyCar history. That infamous designation goes to Slick Racin Gardner. And yes, that's the name on his birth certificate.
Canapino Team Radio: I ran out of brakes, I broke everything
Two days after Canapino crash, it was his best friend (Guido Falaschi) fatal crash.
Ouch😢
RIP Paul Dana.....and it's a miracle Carpenter survived, let alone raced in the next event. A bruised lung was the only injury he suffered in that.
Something tells me Pagenaud will need his changing in this compilation now…

Für Deutschland 🇩🇪
2:17 isnt that the same spot where Jeff Krosnoff died?
I thought so too, if not very similar all the way around.

@@autogyro333 Quite correct, Gary Arvin iirc. We should certainly remember him along with Krosnoff
I thought that was on the inside of the corner, caused by hitting a tree or something, and that there was no catch fence

Is his actual name Sting Ray Bobb? Lmao
That's Indy's version of Mark Winterbottom
@@dangerdean9066 only Mark is actually good or was in his prime
Maybe their parents were fans of WCW and Tony Schiavone screaming "IT'S STIIIIIIIIIING", so they named him Sting after "The Vigilante" 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️

pagenauds may as well be updated especially after mid ohio recently
These series especially IndyCar needs to stop racing road courses in downtown cities that are so narrow and so bumpy they are deadly
And yet the recent fatalities have been on ovals 🙄
