Hey Gabriel we are on your video at 1m50 ! We don’t wanted to annoy you so we didn’t came to you :/ it will have been a big pleasure to speak with you for few minutes... We watch a lot of your videos before starting our journey and Chanel :)
I rented a motorcycle every day which really helped me to get around and see a lot of things. I met some local people who invited me to their house for meals. Also one of my favorite things was to drive in the country through rice fields. Very beautiful
Hoi An is one of my favorite places in all of Asia....having traveled in a fair bit of Asia (Indo, Thai, Cambo, etc..) not everywhere but enough to know this place is awesome.!! Worth a visit...the coffee is world class.
We really enjoyed Hoi An when we were there just over a month ago. We found it definitely gets a bit touristsy in the evenings but during the day there was plenty of things to do around the place. It was actually the first place we tried vlogging (that video never saw the light of day 😂). Really enjoying the Vietnam vids Gabriel 🙂 keep em coming!
Hoi An is great for bicycling because it's flat. No hills to contend with. One major issue is flooding. They need to fix the drainage system. At least when I was there the tickets to different exhibits the revenue collected goes toward fixing the flooding problem.
The restaurant you went to and the guy came out to greet you, is 1 of about 4 restaurants owned by the same woman and she does cooking classes. Her main one “morning glory” is one you have to go too. Tam Tam “lots of lantern outside” is a good place to sit and have a drink watching the chaos go passed 👍
I know it sounds like I'm promoting my OWN channel but you guys should definitely try the Vietnamese STICKY RICE. You will ABSOLUTELY love it! It's packed with over 10 different ingredients!!!!
Xe om = motorcycle taxi (literally translates as vehicle hug, cuz ya better....cute!) What you pointed out is a Xich lo or cyclo, from the French. They used to be everywhere, now disappearing. Life isn’t complete till you’ve ridden on both. Just be sure to agree price in advance. Also check out 1735 Km, a pretty recent feature film, subtitled in English (free on RUclips.) You’ll enjoy the part set in Hoi An, plus it offers some nice perspective on Vietnamese values, etc. Take the advice from the film: When in Hoi An, don’t forget to look up. That’s how you see the beauty of the old town most clearly. Enjoy!
That little ancient town was my favourite part of Vietnam. You have to eat the Cao Lau, i had it many times and the best one was inside the market. Also, in one of the streets of the market, there's an open cafe/bar and they make delicious cold Vietnamese coffee with rum lol. Loved it!
We have been coming to Hoi an since 2016 and love it so much that we moved here in 2022. We are extremely happy to be here in this incredible country with it's very friendly people and great culture! Sam Adler
From this video it looks like its very packed with tourists and not much pleasant to stay, I think there must be a part of the city more "local" and less touristy, right?
Make sure you see the 500 year old Japanese Bridge which is right in town there. I went early in the morning and had the whole bridge to myself with no tourist. P.S., people are commenting that it looks too touristy there but I found if you go just a few blocks away from the waterfront it's still beautiful and fascinating. It's truly a must see town I think.
Hoi An while touristy is easier to get around by cycle and motorbike in comparison to most cities eg Hanoi or HCMC because i was told cars are not allowed in the old city and even outside that much fewer cars. I found it was reasonable and after finding a noisy hotel by that bridge i changed to a quieter nicer one on the beach road. Food is awesome and good value too i tried a couple of the specialities but when i go back to Vietnam i will revisit here and stay longer :)
Nice 👍 video Gabe on coverage of Vietnam 🇻🇳. Looks like a nice country with very nice colorful markets. I’d like to visit one day. Thanks for sharing and stay well, God bless. Greetings from New York City 🌃🙏👍
The green one must be Orange in Vn,inside is same ,but the taste is a little bit less sweet and more sour taste than Orange skin . with mandarin has thinner and smoother skin mate. I am Vietnamese.
Hey Gabe. Hope you're having a wonderful time in Vietnam. Such a beautiful country and the best part is everything is so cheap. feels like you haven't left India in terms of Prices :)
Hoi An in the centre was a lot more expensive than anywhere in Asia. It’s also full of Chinese & American holiday maker tourist types and less backpacker type
Hi Gabe . Vietnam's looking great. I really like the idea of a trip soon-ish.. Tbh after navigating Paharganj, Kolkata & Varanasi so much over the years that area looks like a walk in the park compared!
I first visited Hoi an in 99.... Very sleepy... No traffic lights... Visited many times till 17... It has gone thru many changes... About 4 major renos
Amazing Gabriel 😁❤ those streets are never ending! Looks like motor bikes out number cars 😂 love it! Can't wait to see night life there. Thanks Gabriel! Stay safe 😊❤
These wonderful fruit and vegetables in those ground baskets at the market being exposed to exhaust fumes from the motorcycles all day. It feels too casual, crowded and touristy to me …something I would not travel to Vietnam for, but I appreciate your tour.
There is a cheap bus from danang to hoi an and vice versa. Make sure you get to the river right when it gets dark as the boats light up their lanterns for about an hour. Also before you leave Vietnam make sure you spend all your Vietnam money as you can’t exchange it at the airport.
Beer is cheap in some places because they brew it themselves , Leather is also cheap in Hoi An , in the Old town as you can see cars and motorbikes are not allowed , i stayed in a Hostel called Tribee Ede , Tribee have 4-5 hostels in Hoi An , i was in a 4 bed room for 8$ that included a breakfast buffet , happy hours at night , a large swimming pool , and night time they would do pub tours with the other Tribee hostels , great way to meet people , you shoud try the Banh mi , it is a baguette made from 2 different flours rice and wheat mixed , with meats , pate , veg and sauce
Not my kind of place, far too busy and noisy for me, I got anxiety just looking at the video. I'm looking forward to see the real Vietnam. Thank you for your always informative videos.

It seemed as if you were strolling though the ancient town 500 years ago with all the ancient buildings and beautiful silk lanterns on the streets. As an exotic and beautiful destination for travelers, Vietnam has a unique and captivating history. The Vietnamese cuisine is healthy and delicious, the people are friendly, the scenery is spectacular, and the diverse climate and geography from north to south is quite amazing. Vietnam would be a perfect country without communism, which is still dominant there, sadly.
If you’re going to hire a bicycle, then I suggest a trip out to Tra Que. Thats where all the vegetables are grown for the local area. There is a restaurant there that will cook the ingredients that you yourself have picked.

The produce looks AMAZING. I love how it's obviously out of home gardens and not big commercial farmers. Great video.
I loved Vietnam. Spent a few days in Hoi An. Had a great time there! Will probably fly into Saigon next time I go to Asia. Didn't get enough

Love Hoi An. Been in 2017 and 2018, already making plans for 3rd visit. Countryside is great for exploring.
