I've actually been writing this song over the span of the past few months. I only recently finished it off and decided to record it. this is also more of a rough-ish demo than a complete original, but I really liked this performance a lot so I figured I'll share it. I'll probably start writing more original songs as well.
The little loop was animated in TVPaint. I wanted there to be a visual thing going on for this, but not something as extravagant as a full-blown animated music video. I just opened up TVPaint, drew the first thing I thought of, and then started animating it based on what I felt while I listened back to the recording.

your song speaks pretty closely to me and my experiences in life. it's a very similar story of me and my friends only i'm the one that left them in a heated argument. it's been nearly 5 years since i spoken to them all and i kick myself in the ass every night when i think about them for being so fuckin stupid selfish and naive. everyday since then i've wanted to get in contact with them again but i fear too much the anger in their voices or what they may say which...i honestly shouldn't worry so much about what they MIGHT say and atleast give it a try but, the anciety of it all and it being so long, i do expect some passive aggressive comments my way and a thorough scolding. i miss them all dearly, we all grew up together and i was the fool that ran off from one silly argument. maybe one day i'll build the courage to say hello to them again and apologize. one day.
anyways, thank you for sharing your song, it was wonderful.
unless you shot them in the nuts and crippled them before leaving, i don't think they're still holding a grudge after 5 years. nine times out of ten, people are harsher on themselves than anyone on the outside could ever be to them. so higher chance you haven't forgiven yourself while they don't even recall the argument.
Besides, there's not really much to lose from shooting them a message. if they say they're not up for the revival, things stay the same as they were 5 minutes ago. if they say they're up for a chat, at the very least you managed to get a hold of someone you *thought* never wanted to see you again.
Go for it, no matter how things turn.

you can do it! if this is how you feel about them, they may miss you too. talk to them, and if they understand , you'll have your friends back. If they don't, at least you'll have closure.

Fuck man, this has got me all kinds of messed up. I have been feeling empty for a few years now after having a falling out with someone I was really close to and this just like fucking hurt because I felt it. Every god damn word. It fucking sucks to be hurt and left and then just told that "things change." It just feels horrible to be told that it's over when it doesn't feel that way but it apparently does for them.
Thanks for this. It really was beautiful and honestly it helps just a little to know that there are others that have that same hollow feeling in their stomach. One day, maybe it'll go away.

I can relate to this heavily. Not a day goes by without me having at least a passing thought about her, and when I think for too long about her I'll often end up having something of a panic attack. She left without saying a word, and I was left with so many questions. I don't need her back in my life, I just want answers. Some days I hate her, most days I don't, but I always hope she's okay.

This really hits me. Like no joke, its crazy how I thought of a past broken friendship and still remember the fond things we used to do. I'm making a comic to honor that memory and to finally close this chapter in my life. Thank you for this song and hope we can all heal from past mistakes.

ive lost a friend due to.... well i later realized they were an asshole but at the time it seemed like my fault, and ive never felt such a pain in my entire life, like they died but only for me. I had to simply bury that shit and move on....3 years later now, and im doing way better ive learned that time DOESNT heal all wounds but with time you forget how much things hurt and that makes it easier to handle

How do u animate slow movement? Or in other words how many frames is that sequence? And is it on 1ons twos ??
it's a lot of pose-to-pose and animating in sections. focusing on small bits rather than the whole frame at once. i also use the onion skin a LOT to get my spacing correct, especially on slower movements like the loop in the video.
this animation only has 16 frames on 2s. i tried putting it on 1s early on but it didn't look right once i doubled up on my drawings so i scrapped it and kept it on 2s instead.
