What advice do either of you have? I mean if you keep it handy in case of a home invasion then it is accessible to anyone in the house. Safes would in my understanding defeat the purpose in a break in scenario due to the time it would take to react. If it is accessible then no matter how much you teach your kids about gun safety they go through phases where they are emotional, think they are invincible, and don't follow reason. How do you combat both issues? Agree with you Mike! Everyone should have the right to a gun (access), but contrary to some belief, it's not for everyone. Some don't have the mindset, some the nerve and some just don't want to, and that's all fine; but it also should never trump my rights. I've been choosing to reduce firearm inventory, increase ammunition inventory and train more. I love the mechanics of guns and it's easy for me to collect guns I find cool, but then I end up with not knowing what to take to the range, debate applications for specific guns... I'm getting a little more to the plans of the future. Not so much preparing for the "end of times," but planning for the possibility of some of the evens we have seen in recent time.
Yeah I agree not everyone. I think everyone who has the mental capacity should own a gun, do they have to no. When they need the protection they will wish they did.

"Should you own a gun?" I like to tell people... well, the police can't protect you 24/7 and what will you do if they refuse to come? Say during a riot, they won't help you (research the Los Angeles Riots.) Most times, maybe they will help in time, but their response time is not guaranteed. All that said, what is your favorite training facility in Colorado? [and HBD;-]
I too believe that people could own a gun if they feel the need to. My wife is a small lady and doesn't want a firearm because she is afraid someone can take it from her. I keep a firearm at home but not on person. Because I don't want to have that sort of "power" of being able to take someone's life everyday. I do also believe that if you have a way to put holes in someone you need a way to plug them too. Thats why I have a gun at home (for home defense) and massive first aid kit at home and know how to use it.
I am working on building an all around truck medical kit that will work for heavy trauma such as car crashes but also be functional for normal situations (little Timmy got an Owie)
I own several guns, both for hunting and sports. Where I live however the bar to owning a gun is pretty high with requirements both on background and mental fitness and on demonstrable skills and knowledge, as well as showing the need to have it for huntimg or sports. When moving here (originally from Texas) I thought I’d hate this, but the older I get and more knowledge and experienced I get with guns the more I tend to agree with the regulations imposed here. I also can’t deny that gun related violence is much less common here, non-criminals getting shot is almost unheard of. So, from thinking much like you back ten years ago, I now tend to think that yea, everyone should get a gun if they are dedicated to spending years learning to use it in a safe way, as well as achieving the maturity they should have. Also, strict background checks is, imo a no-brainer.

Hi! Very interesting video. We are from Switzerland. Here there's a huge "gun culture" in our country for years. I don't know how it is in the US but here, owning a gun is very easy but for carrying a gun legaly it's another story. It's way more complicate almost impossible!

As someone who carries a Knife, Pepper Spray, and Taser every day, It is only because I can not carry a handgun because of the state I live in. One of the main reasons I'm trying to move out of the horrid state of Maryland.
Thanks for this, crazy at this point in my life i'm considering purchasing one but plain and simple people are not wrapped too tight and act like they don't even care about life but guess what....I do. I highly suggest before you buy a gun to research, and with that research find any flaws, if it can be upgraded/modded (cause its going to happen), but importantly... Go rent it and shoot for an hour or so. Get comfortable with the features. Then see which one you like the most that fits well and has the features you want and need. Guns don't have a return policy! At least all of the shops I've ever been to have been that way. haha
I totally agree with you Mike. I think not everyone should own one. But I also think there is a huge group of people who are scared of guns that would 100% benefit from carrying, with some training. Especially in CO 😂
You should do a video on "WHY YOU SHOULD NOT OWN A GUN" - would be a good way to balance this video out a bit. Let's see you pull a Hegel and do an anti-thesis on your own video! I dare ya!
In the process of purchasing my first gun after about a year of research and finding the right gun for me. Been to the shooting range bunch of times as well shot my buddys guns, so I felt like it was time to own one myself.
Happy 14th B-day! ;) What I recommend folks I talk to on the topic do is put themselves mentally in the position of using a handgun against another person. If they can't imagine themselves using it, then they probably shouldn't own one. Rifles are a more nuanced discussion. Just my two cents.
I am thinking seriously about to purchase one for home protection. But I haven’t been able to take a decision due to some doubts about the responsibility it implies to the owner to use it correctly if the danger and you are caught between the others you love to not hurt them too during the moment. But as you said, what actual chance I have to get out alive without a gun? Shoot I cant even fight fight well on my own. Thanks for this video it helped with most of my doubts and questions.
I purchased my first fire arm this week. A lot of things have been happening to neighborhood recently. I have cameras around and there’s been times couple of guys was snooping around our home. Took me a while to decide to purchase a firearm because I felt that I could defend myself using a knife or a bat. But yeah just made more sense to own a firearm.
Only about 5 minutes in and i 100% agree with you. Its not for everyone and not everyone needs one. We have the right to defend ourselves from people who intend to do us harm. And happy late bday bro. Lol.
I own one and aside from going to the range, i hope to never ever use it. Its not cool since nobody can see it concealed. Its not meant to be cool. Its just there as the last resort when everything absolutly positively goes wrong in every way. So far ive been decent enough to deescalate tense situations, hopefully the streak continues.
2:15 EXACTLY!! you dont HAVE to. but you have the right. it's your choice. if you think guns are a bad thing, than by all means, make the decision to not have a firearm. that is the beauty of it being a right and not a requirement.
I do own a firearm and have a ccw permit for the past 20 years. Recently some circumstances changed in my life and I’m debating about continuing owning such a firearm. The pistol is specifically meant for self defense for me and I have a rifle that I shoot for fun. On my time thankfully I never had to draw on anyone but I’m a bit curious what sort of statistics are out there as far as self defense. As I look into it I kind of realize that a lot of these agencies are very anti-2a and it seems to me that data isn’t being tracked. Also data on just drawing a firearm and deterring potential violence isn’t really in any sort of data pool (for example someone breaks into your home and you point a firearm at them and they run off). So it is making me hesitant in giving up my firearm just yet and accepting the narrative a lot of these anti-2a places are pushing out.
I don't carry a gun, but why I would and often consider it: Over the last 20 years on the Appalachian trail there have been only a handful of animal attacks on humans and in the same time there has been well over a dozen murders. A hiker/explorer's biggest threat is probably being attacked and robbed by trashy mountain folk, and you can't scare them off with a tin can full of rocks strapped to your pack.
Hey Mike, hope all is well buddy. So I'm going to say this for you because I know your to respectful/ professional to do so... but I can bet the majority of the people giving their opinions are way less successful and are way less harder working than you. In my experience the older generation should definitely be respected but also on that note should give the respect on an equal playing field. I care about and respect everyone and anyone but the cold hard truth in life is that If you are a gardener, you shouldn't tell the king how to run a kingdom, only a king should be able to give his OPINION to another king on how to operate his kingdom because they have both taken the steps and trials necessary to accomplish a seat at the top of the food chain. For what it's worth I'm very proud of what you are doing as a young independent American man. Props man! Really enjoying the content, keep it up my man!

I totally agree with you Mike. I think not everyone should own one. But I also think there is a huge group of people who are scared of guns that would 100% benefit from carrying, with some training. Especially in CO 😂
I'll answer this question for all of you, yes everyone that can legally own one should own one.
And if you refuse to take a human life, then what purpose would owning a gun serve
You should do a video on "WHY YOU SHOULD NOT OWN A GUN" - would be a good way to balance this video out a bit. Let's see you pull a Hegel and do an anti-thesis on your own video! I dare ya!
I mention reasons to not own a gun in this video. 🍻 Plus, not owning a gun is the default, purchasing a gun takes the effort
i respect you putting your opinions out there.
I ordered a holster from you, should be arriving in a couple days! Extremely excited for it!
Happy Birthday, I too have conceal carry and own a gun I agree with you
Yes. Summed that up rather well.
It's for you, even if you don't know it yet.
Check out the Tactical Rifleman team. I’ve been down there a few times. Good training. They have a RUclips channel as well.
You should own many, alot , to many guns, are my friends.
Just one? Haha. Happy Bday from Cali! 👊🏻
In the process of purchasing my first gun after about a year of research and finding the right gun for me. Been to the shooting range bunch of times as well shot my buddys guns, so I felt like it was time to own one myself.
Yes. All of the video ideas you mentioned, make all of them.
Great topic Mike. I practice medicine and EDC using an ankle rig for the very reasons you've mentioned. Bravo Zulu!
Happy 14th B-day! ;)
What I recommend folks I talk to on the topic do is put themselves mentally in the position of using a handgun against another person. If they can't imagine themselves using it, then they probably shouldn't own one. Rifles are a more nuanced discussion. Just my two cents.
Great vid as always, appreciate the advice. Look forward to part two and that medical vid. Keep up the great work and take care brother
This is a great video! Keep up the good work.
Great video! Looking forwards to Part II!
Great message! Glad to see you are putting your convictions and insights on this topic. Great videos!
Great first step, now I'd suggest getting some great training!
@@LastLineOfDefense definitely! ive signed up for one.
1:55 and I'm already agreeing!. you are very right. MOST, but NOT ALL!
2:15 EXACTLY!! you dont HAVE to. but you have the right. it's your choice. if you think guns are a bad thing, than by all means, make the decision to not have a firearm. that is the beauty of it being a right and not a requirement.
The two best things I’ve gotten based on your channel is the magpul mag well and the Nalgene 48oz water bottle lid
Happy Belated and thanks for the great info
Happy belated Birthday, thanks for the video!
Great vid Mike. Really well thought out and discussed.
Thanks Patrick!
Pretty damn smart for a 15 year old ;-)
Good upload mike. Looking forward to the 2nd part
I don't carry a gun, but why I would and often consider it:
Over the last 20 years on the Appalachian trail there have been only a handful of animal attacks on humans and in the same time there has been well over a dozen murders. A hiker/explorer's biggest threat is probably being attacked and robbed by trashy mountain folk, and you can't scare them off with a tin can full of rocks strapped to your pack.
Hey Mike. Happy Birthday. Love all you videos.
I turned 34 in June too much respect for this video!
34??????????????? That’s years, right?????? Happy birthday, Mike!!!!!
Bro predicted the future 💀
Happy belated man.
Hey Paul, I think what you said is pretty accurate for the most part, and I appreciate your kind words! There is certainly something to be learned from people from all walks of life, a gardener, and a king - but yeah most of the time, haters are just gonna hate for no reason other than jealousy.
Would like to see some videos with trainers and their thoughts on firearms use
i live in Norway and can get 10 years in prison for holding a handgun so i don't think it is so smart for me to get a gun
HBD Mike !!!
Thanks doc!
If you want great training in various scenarios, check out James yeager fighting pistol. It’s a weekend class that is great for beginners and experienced people, it has everything you need to know from when to use your weapon and what happens afterwards legally.
Nice video, thanks for the info.
Absolutely
Concealed carry is a lifestyle and something you have to be committed to mentally and physically. It almost has to become a habit.
You should definitely own MORE than one.
Yes, own lots of guns.....my wife has over 50 pairs of shoes so..........😀
Hey I kinda like guns alright
agreed
I opened the video expecting a welcome followed by “yes” and that was it.
As with most of my videos, I could have used 99% fewer words, haha.
Last Line Of Defense okay maybe just nod next time after waving?
A right isn't a right if it can be taken by politicians. They think they can but the truth is, "come and take it "
It would be an awesome time for part 2
