It's good to see their families are supportive. They've got good parents.
it's been 4years n it's still hard..that just broke me down to tears.. David's dad must have miss his wife so much..
I used to live right down the street from David and my parents were friends with his parents. Debbie and Dan were and still the best neighbors I ever had. R.I.P Mrs. Debbie
I'm sorry for your loss.
David's dad made me cry
To be with someone over 40 years it's hard to lose them.
What wonderful parents. God bless you.
"I hope they do get married some day." -Neil's Dad
Tears!!!! the support and love from his parents is such a great thing to see!!!
David's dads interview was so sweet :) :(
How can people think it's a choice? I'm straight and couldn't possibly choose who I'm attracted to. It's the same with them. The amazing feeling I get when I'm with a girl I like is the exact same thing that they get when they're with a man they like. You can't fake that. I can't wait until homophobia is completely gone from this world. Which it will be eventually.
I hope more straight people have perspective like you
Sabiancym damn right. I was actually physically hurt by someone I was directly answerable to at work many years ago, someone who was meant to look out for the well-being of his team and be professional at all times. He was anything but. And all because of his Eastern European Catholic upbringing. The type of homophobe that would actually get physically abusive to impose his beliefs on others. One of the worst kinds of homophobes out there. Plus he is a misogynist too, which made things even worse, because I am both of the things he hates (and doesn't understand).
Like someone said above, I don't think the use of the word 'lifestyle' was meant to belittle or imply that being gay is a choice, I think that's just a phrase that many of the older generations are familiar with. Yes, it is problematic, but I don't think it was meant with any malice or negative intent.
Although I don't support the LGBT community I still think that homophobia and what not will always be on the earth just like racism will always be here most likely there is no way to truly get rid of it but there is like way still kind of like help that their cause pretty much
It can be a choice. People can choose to be gay. Peoples sexuality can change over time. Another thing and that is homophobia will never go away entirely just as racism sexism and other types of prejudice will never go away entirely. There will always be prejudice.
Why don't people understand its not a choice ?.... who would like to choose a 'lifestyle' of mental suffocation and fear of rejection ?...no one would...
Like someone said above, I don't think the use of the word 'lifestyle' was meant to belittle or imply that being gay is a choice, I think that's just a phrase that many of the older generations are familiar with. I find it hard to hear people say lifestyle and choice too for exactly the reason you’ve used.
Agreed. "The gay lifestyle" is a phrase invented by the religious right to try to justify their belief that it's some kind of choice. But it seems like Neil's dad has come a long way, so that's good. Old habits die hard when it comes to using phrases like that.
It's hard for some people to wrap their minds around something like this. Yes homosexuality is evident and we know it exists, but you gotta understand the background his dad grew up in. Accepting gay people is harder for the older generations.
This is so incredibly wonderful but so sad at the same time, about Debbie's passing. I broke into tears
My condolences to David's family, I know it's hard to loose a parent, my love to you all
Carol
Awww I thought that what David's dad said was so sweet they are an awesome couple
I can only wish or dream that I had what Neil has he looks so happy w/ David and his kids
Love the heartfelt honesty...
I’m glad Neil’s parents accept their son
Thank you to the parents of David and Neil!!!! You have wonderful sons!!!! God bless you all!!!!! Neil is a wonderful actor!!! He is Legen wait for it dary !!!!!!!!!
This gives me hope as a young gay male.
This never fails to make me cry.
See you can be critical and supportive. They are a very strong and open-minded example, honest, not pseudo-tolerant parents! It's very good they discuss their struggles, too! It's important, you can't just label somebody discriminatory who's not entirely comfortable with such a surprise right away. *That* would be narrow-minded and uncomprehending! Instead it's important to talk. Inspiring people up there! 👏👏
NPH looks a lot like his mom, especially around the eyes :)
My dad was so supporting of me long before I was ever able to publicly admit that I was gay. I never spoke of it with my mother because it didn’t seem right.
Wow I love this ❤️
There is so much hope right now! I was raised in a very right wing religious home and was taught that being gay was unnatural and a sin. I'm now a strong advocate for gay marriage! And I know others like me. Just a few years ago we never would have dreamed that we'd have nine states with gay marriage here in the US, with more on the way. I would very much agree that you should have hope! Even gay people without accepting parents should be encouraged that things keep improving.
So sorry for the loss of David's mom!!!
You can really see the love this man has for his family. 💙
David has an older sister named Jennifer,
but I hope David/Neil have more kids, they seem like amazing loving parents!!
I am crying omg
So David and Neil are lucky that their parents support them being gay
one of the twins is Neils, the other is David's (Biologically). But yeah, you're exactly right!
Sweet understanding parents
AMAZING human/father-in-law!!!
I'm sobbing
im literally crying
oh man awesome parents for awesome people
I think we have to give parents a little grace about their kids coming out to them, simply because sometimes they truly have not seen it coming. Not every young person is RuPaul, in behavior. Sometimes the parents really are quite surprised. The son or daughter has had this thought germinating in their mind for years, about whom they might be, but if the parents have not seen any clues, the revelation does drop like a bomb, and it takes awhile for them to form a new picture of love for their child.
Very honest.
Those babies are adorable...
Thats beautiful 3
For someone who was rased katholic, David's dad was very accepting of his gay son.
sweet...very sweeet!
The key is really acceptance. For the parents of a gay child, it is quite a big disappointment for them and they harbor these doubts about themselves but the issue won't go away until you accept it and opt to understand fully how your gay child is feeling. Still, as parents, your main responsibility is to provide a safe haven, protect your child from harm--not just physically but emotionally. Your task is to provide that loving environment for your child to feel loved and raised him/her with a happy childhood and good education until adulthood...till they're ready and equipped to lead his/her own life.
@daystartv "Harriss Family".... Holy Sprite.... What Happened....
@peanutbutter5432 lols no! I just found out today! Lol ur not alone!
Parents who don't accept their gay children are sinful.
Maybe, but sometimes we must accept that it will take them some time to do so.
Why would Neil's dad be disappointed with him? Isn't he supposed to support him?
taylorswizzzle because sometimes it's hard for heterosexual people to understand the lgbtq+ community
I actually appreciate his honesty. It is not easy and probably with his upbringing during his time, it is totally understandable.
I don’t think any straight parents hope their kids will be gay, but the moment one becomes a parent is the moment that it’s no longer about the parent and it becomes about the child. So parents have to love their children regardless of whether they agree with the choices their children make. That can be hard for parents! It’s about relinquishing control.
@tbntv "Harris Family".... Holy Sprite.... What Happened....
The saddest thing about this video is the mom dying.
@transparentinchrist "Harriss Family"....
I want that life with Patrick
Am I the only person that didnt know Neil was gay?
no
Isnt Harper a girl????? Or was I wrong the whole time?

have rude do that
IT'S NOT A LIFESTYLE!!!!
yeah it isnt. straight people say that because they think it is
Like someone said above, I don't think the use of the word 'lifestyle' was meant to belittle or imply that being gay is a choice, I think that's just a phrase that many of the older generations are familiar with. Yes, it is problematic, but I don't think it was meant with any malice or negative intent.
Probably. lol.
It's harder for everyone, not just harder for dads, you wake up one day getting ready to go to work, you are just about to leave the house, then you remembered that your son had asked to get you something on your way back from work, saying to your self I better check before I leave and go and ask him, you knock the door of his bedroom then you enter then OOps, a guy you know that's your son's mate, in an awkward position with your son, is this normal? I am trying to tell a real story that happened with one of my friends at work.
"The gay lifestyle" is not a choice for gods sake
You should take into consideration that old people find homosexuality difficult to deal with. Not because they are homophobic, but they were educated in a different way. We dont have to judge them, we have to educate them so they can understand that being gay it is not a choice.
It's probably a habit for them, that's a frase used in their generation. He seems to be very accepting.
Milhau5 that is not an excuse i understand that this is kind of "new" for them, but it doesn't mean saying those things is ok
blackintogold Still tho, I think a lot of these kinds of discussions miss the point when they go "you said X so you mean Y". It's important to know why people say something or else progress won't happen.
+blackintogold No, it's you looking for offense. You want understanding but seem incapable or unwilling to give it. Stop behaving like some precious little snowflake because you can't handle someone using a phrase or terminology you don't like. I agree with your premise, but your delivery leaves much to be desired.
ITS NOT A LIFESTYLE
So you just missed all the other things he said after that? Like "I hope they do get married some day"? Take off your getting offended blinders
The mundane pen biophysically approve because meeting certainly report above a joyous pants. fortunate, clammy jaguar
i was surprise about neil patrick harris he used to date many girlfriend and later soon to get marry long time ago when he was in actor. he as also appear in starship trooper movie too. i dont understand why he became gay and it very sad for me. he was marry to david. i understand too many actor and actress and director and producer and else when they once a straight in past and become gay and lesbian and transgenger. when i watch showtime channel the L WORD alot of straight actress.
???????????????????
John Bellagiolake What the f have I just read?
WTF! It is like complaining over that some are left handed. It is not a choice they make! Some are left handed and some are right handed. Some are gay and some are straight. You can't change or choose that. Some idiots have thought they could change people. In both cases it have ended badly.
I think this is a new language.
The guy the picked him up from "Drama Camp" the "Talent Scout" probably flipped him.
Of course it's wrong. Open ur eyes
It is a choice they were not born that way sodom and gomorhah.
Then I chose right.
What wonderful parents. God bless you.
