  • This is a great interview which has just emerged from late 1986 just prior to the release of the 'House Of Blue Light'. Featuring Jon Lord, Roger Glover and Ian Paice this interview discusses the new album, life on the road being in a bad. Its great!

I believe it's 1987, they talk about the single Call of the Wild which was released in '87.

Indeed. The album came out in January 1987 (I bought it immediately). First video was Bad attitude and Call of the wild was released a few months later

Ian gillan's face at the last second spooked me

where is the 5:19 laugh from Gillan?

At least Roger admits some lyrics are indeed about sex. Listen to Knocking at your back door and Mitzi Dupree for instance. Gillan's humour right there...

Jon looks very 80's with trendy hair.
They seem happy to be interviewed, its such a shame Ritchie couldn't bring himself to take part.
To me, at this point they seemed out of time. The album was not a hit and Ritchie didn't like it either.

At least Jon didn't turn full blonde like Coverdale did that year Lol. I had read an interview in a German Metal magazine shortly after the album's release in which Ritchie said he was quite pleased with it and he liked hearing Bad attitude being played on the radio. He even praised Gillan's singing. Later, Ritchie being Ritchie, slammed the album. One of his mood swings, as it seems...

Great interview.....even without the two alpha males.

olhole - Because the two alphas aren't there. Here you get proper thinking and truth, as well as a VERY good vibe. John Lord had huge strength of personality but was a gentle giant and seemed to avoid conflict. Ian and Roger, super bright and creative.
