Red vs Blue managed to do something once thought impossible. They actually managed to create a timeline more confusing than the Halo lore itself. Even after watching this video, my head is still spinning.. sometimes I feel like Caboose while watching this series, I only remember every other thing that happens, and the only characters I care about are the Reds and Blues themselves.

Just a note Caboose was at one point extremely intelligent as he graduated from Harvard and is an excellent engineer, also he knows that he is a character in an animated show. He also seems to be the only one of the reds and blues besides church who has received extensive notoriety by project freelancer as they have keybinds specifically for caboose team kills.
The original story of red vs blue with all the freelancers and director is actually so incredibly tragic. In a way the director is the main character, a broken man trying to save humanity in some way that just is constantly grieving his wife’s passing, and eventually is obsessed with bringing her back in some form. It’s just so weird as red vs blue is such a lighthearted show, yet it has an incredibly deep and tragic story.
Plot Twist: The Director is still alive because WE ALL KNOW HOW GOOD HE IS WITH GUNS AT POINT BLANK RANGE and somehow managed to get out of the facility without leaving any trace. When Church sacrificed himself for Tucker's armor, I cried so hard. It was like losing a beat friend. He was, and always will be, my favorite character.
A bit late to the boat here, but yeah I agree. It was really lame that they killed off Tex, my favorite character, only to replace her with an angrier, more authoritarian and thoroughly less likeable version of herself in the form of Carolina. Also, they killed my other favorite character Church without him ever getting a proper go at killing someone with a sniper :'(

When the Halo series got around to explaining why there are Spartans dressed in red and blue shooting each other, it was a completely different reason than in Red vs. Blue. That, and between the two series, the UNSC Earth headquarters are in completely different places. Red vs. Blue certainly borrows elements from Halo canon, but it takes liberties when it needs to.

Also, I think the reason why they had the Blues and Reds’ base there was because they’d be less likely to attract attention on a small, isolated island than in the middle of the US.
I like how with each introduction of a new Halo game being machinimated in chronologically, you used iconic tracks from their games. Blood Gulch starts, and you play the CE theme. Last Spartan plays during the "time travel" sequence. Reconstruction gets One Final Effort. Thank you for using Halo music, mixing it with the RVB stuff throughout the vid!
Not gonna lie I started getting teary eyed at the end of this video. RVB has been a huge part of my life, ever since I was a kid, and its amazing to see how far these characters I've loved since my childhood have come.
Exactly. I didn’t realize that Project Freelancers time happened about 4 years before the events of Blood Gulch. That the Blood Gulch chronicles was in the time of 2 years, and finally answered what the hell was going on with Church and Gamma.
Joe Diaz how important was Freckles? Was he important enough to be included in the timeline? All he did was fight to the death and was bugged with a tracker.
Few small nitpicks here and there, like how you left out that Flowers handpicked the Reds and Blues to be psychological mirrors of the Blues and Reds based on the notes taken on them by the Director, and the destruction of earth would have been from the paradox of the laser drill being powered by stealing energy from the past rather than the hole drilled through it. other than that, a great Cliffs Notes of the series thus far. I'd thought Beta Tex was taken by the Omega and destroyed by the emp, that she was found by the director and used to make those Tex clones makes a bit more sense.

For me Contact was supposed to be a representation of Church's lonesomeness. I see it as representing death as Church sacrifices himself. Based on the existence of this song there may actually be a way to recover Alpha in the future. It's not like RT hasn't written entire 5 season long plot narratives just to explain and justify Church coming back before.

We are green and grey for example is the color of locust and when they say one of us won't be forgotten one if us will be wrong, it points to locus and Felix position in the end of last season. The song also points to locust and Felix's military days. Look at the lyrics

Contact says one of us wont be forgotten and the other will be wrong. In 12 Felix won't be forgotten as the traitor, and locus' ideology is wrong. For 13 Redux say one of us will be forgotten. This time Felix is wrong, and locus will be forgotten, as he disappears without a trace.
I haven't watched the later seasons, but was it confirmed that Gamma/Gary was only running Church through *simulations* of time travel? I watched Blood Gulch Chronicles a lot when it was released, and I thought the implication was that Gamma/Gary put Church through the same time loop ability that Wyoming uses after reuniting with Gamma in season 5/the end of the Blood Gulch Chronicles. The resulting multiple copies of Wyoming also seemed to call back to the multiple copies of Church in Sidewinder, implying the common denominator is Gamma's time loop ability.

This is a very good timeline. I'm really enjoying it. It is nice that they are finishing the series off properly, there is a subset of fans that really do not want Joel back, even though I heard it was a bad breakup. He is still the voice of caboose and always will be the voice of caboose. It really sucks that he might not make it to the final season because of some stupid thing. The subset of fans that are defending his exit really do not understand that a lot of old school fans are going to pick up on the new voice actor because the new voice actor sounds super off

It’s because after Burnie left the writing took a noticeable hit. While the 11-13 trilogy was great it was near on par as the previous seasons. Plus the quality took a decline after 13
I've been watching rvb since i was 7, watched the show a total of 4 times. Obviously as a small child you don't understand or care to about whats going on, but still loved the show. Awesome Abridged video explaining it all, as much as I'd love to do a RVB rerun I'm an adult in the Army and don't have as much time as I used to.
All I remember is The Director's death. To this day I still go back to rewatch it from time to time because it's just so heartbreaking. The scene is so impactful and I think it'll a always be the best scene in the series.

It's crazy how that show changed and evolved. We went from "how did we get here" to a sprawling empire. When you hear the timeline like this though it feels like a show that got way off base from its original target. Church has been and always will be a dumb goof. Him being some genius scientist is just wrong to me. They tried to make something truly goofy serious.
It makes it even better knowing just how many RvB Easter eggs there are in the actual Halo games. It makes you think it could be canonical in some way.

Few small nitpicks here and there, like how you left out that Flowers handpicked the Reds and Blues to be psychological mirrors of the Blues and Reds based on the notes taken on them by the Director, and the destruction of earth would have been from the paradox of the laser drill being powered by stealing energy from the past rather than the hole drilled through it. other than that, a great Cliffs Notes of the series thus far. I'd thought Beta Tex was taken by the Omega and destroyed by the emp, that she was found by the director and used to make those Tex clones makes a bit more sense.
The only thing I wanted to know was "time travel" and ended up watching the whole thing

For me Contact was supposed to be a representation of Church's lonesomeness. I see it as representing death as Church sacrifices himself. Based on the existence of this song there may actually be a way to recover Alpha in the future. We are green and grey for example is the color of locust and when they say one of us won't be forgotten one if us will be wrong, it points to locus and Felix position in the end of last season. The song also points to locust and Felix's military days. Look at the lyrics

Contact says one of us wont be forgotten and the other will be wrong. In 12 Felix won't be forgotten as the traitor, and locus' ideology is wrong. For 13 Redux say one of us will be forgotten. This time Felix is wrong, and locus will be forgotten, as he disappears without a trace.
I haven't watched the later seasons, but was it confirmed that Gamma/Gary was only running Church through *simulations* of time travel? I watched Blood Gulch Chronicles a lot when it was released, and I thought the implication was that Gamma/Gary put Church through the same time loop ability that Wyoming uses after reuniting with Gamma in season 5/the end of the Blood Gulch Chronicles. The resulting multiple copies of Wyoming also seemed to call back to the multiple copies of Church in Sidewinder, implying the common denominator is Gamma's time loop ability.

I hate (love) how you use the actual Halo music and the RvB music,, it makes me so reminiscent and absolutely kills me because I’ve become too emotionally invested in their whole story. It was brought together so nicely and I loved Burnie Burn’s writing! Still amazed at how it’s still going :,)

It’s because after Burnie left the writing took a noticeable hit. While the 11-13 trilogy was great it was near on par as the previous seasons. Plus the quality took a decline after 13

I've been watching rvb since i was 7, watched the show a total of 4 times. Obviously as a small child you don't understand or care to about whats going on, but still loved the show. Awesome Abridged video explaining it all, as much as I'd love to do a RVB rerun I'm an adult in the Army and don't have as much time as I used to.

All I remember is The Director's death. To this day I still go back to rewatch it from time to time because it's just so heartbreaking. The scene is so impactful and I think it'll a always be the best scene in the series.

Nice video man, cleared up a lot of questions I had when I first watched those episodes years ago.
It's crazy how that show changed and evolved. We went from "how did we get here" to a sprawling empire. When you hear the timeline like this though it feels like a show that got way off base from its original target. Church has been and always will be a dumb goof. Him being some genius scientist is just wrong to me. They tried to make something truly goofy serious.
The original purpose of RvB was to get Donut into pink armor, anticipated length 6 to 8 episodes, 1 season.
It makes it even better knowing just how many RvB Easter eggs there are in the actual Halo games. It makes you think it could be canonical in some way.
Washington would have be the most suitable for the original Alpha if they never split it
you missed that the meta also took the Beta Ai (tex) and they actually show her during the last scene before alpha dies to the emp.
the tex we see later is one Epsilon made similar to the way alpha did. he says " i couldnt get you out of my head, so i had to get you out of my head"
