As more of a Consim boardgamer yet an airline geek, I was super surprised how great this game is. The artwork and components create a great vibe, and the mechanics of it all give you a lot to think about as you go about trying to accumulate stock. The time frame is basically the era where founder Juan Trippe was at the helm, about 40 years from 1927 to 1968. If you notice on the event cards they have a dates on them, so you can see where you are on that timeline. Great video, really enjoyed your perspectives!
I should have clarified on the video. I removed the cruiser card because of the event card "Long Distance Travel" we drew. Our green screen messed up, so we couldn't show the card. Yes, the cruiser normally comes off at round 3 unless you draw the "Long Distance Travel" event. Thanks much for watching! - Jon
Like it after watching this..Dean going early with 'Game of the Year' announcement haha....Wondering if this year just gonna' stall and we have to wait for next year.Maybe around normal Essen time we will see more 'blockbusters'.Keep up the good work, good interaction between you 2.
I have just finished playing Pan Am and I could not see Where in the rules does it say Pan Am expands from Miami for free (regardless of value on the die)?
Great in-depth analysis and sharing of positives/negatives! I am prone to analysis paralysis myself so I'm wondering how bad it would be - slightly concerned. The decisions seem pretty juicy though. Are there any good economic games you have played in the past that share a similar vibe with Pan Am?
I’m still having a hard time fathoming how to play this. The way you are playing is so fluid, but yet the instructions are not. I’m just wondering, how do you know the first airport is $5? That’s not in the instruction book. How do you know you get a free stock? That’s not in the instructions. Very confusing game with an extremely steep learning curve. I find Risk is easier to play.
Check out page 10 in the rulebook. The prices are determined based on the highest bidder in the engineer phase. So, the airport was $5 because that was the highest bid. It could have been $3, $5, $7, or $9 as indicated on the board. It completely depends on who bid the highest. Stock is discussed on page 15 of the rule book. You simply pay for as much stock as you want to purchase this round. I hope this helps! Thanks for watching! - Jon

Totally agree! Thanks for pointing out about the dates on the event cards. We both really enjoyed this one.
Great review- my wife bought this (our media room is filled with retro airline décor) and we have a lot of fun playing this.
Thank you. It’s so good! That’s a perfect game for you both. -Dean
That’s so cool. I love retro airline stuff. We enjoy it too. Thanks for watching and commenting! - Jon
This is 10,000 times easier to learn the game watching than reading through the entire directions packet. Thank you!!!
Glad it helped! -Dean
Love the retro look. Can't wait to try this one out! Thanks for the review!
Thanks for watching!
The first plane card doesn’t get removed until round 3
Its supposed to not but the event card of round two says to remove that card
Cruiser becomes available at round 3, not 2
